I don't get why people complain about ranged point and click spells

But not about ranged autoattacks

They work exactly the same way. They damage, they can CC you, only difference is one of them has a cooldown and cost while the other one doesn't.

Ranged auto-attacks CC you? Since when? Last I knew the only champs with CC on their Autos were melee. Xin, Udyr, Nautilus and what have you.

They feel entitled to any ranged spell being Skillshots and therefore dodgable if the enemy makes mistakes (even though skillshots have their own benefits and drawbacks compared to point-and-click spells) since Riot employees said that point-and-click spells have no counterplay (I disagree) and continued to release champions with mostly skillshots.

The community never got to adapt to combatting champions with point-and-click spells, while they have a lot of experience dealing with skillshots, which is why they think point and click as a mechanism is OP - they aren't used to dealing with it.

But I don't think their concerns (or complaints) about point-and-click ranged attack connect to point-and-click ranged spells. They are used to ranged AA being undodgable, since no one had a skillshot AA yet. They lack the experience with regards to how to deal with point-and-click spells.

There isn't any way to deal with click abilities. Not even sure where you are getting the idea you need experience to deal with point and click spells or that they have counterplay. They DO NOT have any counterplay as you've said.

If you are thinking about just keeping your distance from a champion because they can't click you then, that's just toxic gameplay right there (promotes not interacting with the other character.)

Against spells with reliable hit rate you must think differently from dealing with skillshots.

The experience come from the actual ability to trade damage, not to just think you are capable of avoiding all damage while dealing all potential damage to the enemy...

Even if the enemy HAS a point-and-click spell, you should be prepared to get hit by it, just like anyone with a skillshot CC. If you don't think you will get hit by a skillshot before you initiate combat you are asking to be dumped upon.

Before League was mostly skillshot-based kits, everyone knew how to deal with point-and-click characters. There wasn't a problem with specific champion having point-and-click spells and suddenly becoming overpowered.

What people perceive as overpowered is that point-and-click spells deviates from the norm as of current and they aren't used to dealing with champion kits that aren't skillshot-based. They try to approach the same lane match up with the same mindset regardless of the champion kit they are dealing with.

Ranged auto-attacks wouldn't be that terrible if they weren't hitting you for 500+ damage twice a second.

Still think Crit should be reworked into some form of percentile armor pen rather than bonus damage and then turn Whisper into a heavy flat Pen item. That would remove two layers of auto-attack multiplication, preserve Ranger damage against hard targets, and make softer targets a better counter against them.

This would require a pretty heavy rework of auto-attack focused champions who happen to build Crit, but in the long run it would be good for game health. I would love to see the various Rangers shoved toward AD casters and away from Right-Click Champions.

the thing is that ranged abilities can have loads of stuff tied to them making them more effective at kiting or bursting that autos are, and champions who use those skills dont realy share the weaknesses with the adc's (im speaking about squishines and weakness vs assasins)

so ranged on click ability can cc, burst kite or whatever on any kind of champion ranged autoatack deals only damage, and the guy who uses it is realy weak when caught
