So does anyone remember poppy? (repost)

Yeah, this poppy

Her winrates are 46% for each role . That's abysmal. She's ranked as trash tier on every overall placement according to champion.gg and is not doing well at all. Her playrate tops out at 1.5% for top and below 1% for jungle and support. You are going to see a poppy top about once every 100 games, and even less support and jungle poppys. She's not doing well.

Looking at her winrate with players with over 125+ games on poppy the only one that breaks 50% is poppy support with a whopping 65% (but we all know not to judge a champions balance off just one small group of people taking a champ support ). She's doing terrible.

She definitely needs to be looked at. I'm not a rioter so i have no idea what part of her kit needs buffs, but something definitely does.

Nothing in her kit needs buffs. People just need to put in the effort to learn her properly. Poppy JG is my absolute hidden OP right now. Assuming your teammates aren't completely braindead, you can generate massive leads for your team on the whole.

Any tips? I haven't been able to jungle well with her in a while.

Start Gromp with q, smite it late, then clear your way through to red, taking an option for a gank when possible.

You can usually pick up your bami's cinder and hunter's potion by that point (if not, take another camp or two until you can), and then just roam around, clearing your camps, invading the enemy jungle if it's safe, ganking when possible, and just stay out as long as you want to/can. I end up doing my second back with 3K or so almost every time.

In general, I find that going Cinderhulk directly into Cleaver works best, but I really haven't tested much else because of how well it works.

Don't be afraid to take the kills if your laners won't/can't, but try to pass them off to your laners if possible. Ganking side lanes is easiest, but mid can work if you can get behind the enemy and tackle them towards your laner, making sure they can't dash out.

I am blown away by

are you telling me that players with 125 games just don't know how to play her?

Dryditch1 votes

If a bronze 5 moron like me can manage to carry consistently with her from the jungle, then yeah. Players with 125 games have no idea what to do with her...

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

Honestly, a couple base stat buffs might be enough to bring her back into the meta.

I'm really hoping they do something to buff her soon; she's the only AD tank I really enjoy playing.

Marshbouy2 votes

me too

Ralanr1 votes

Only she and Sion exist as AD tanks sadly.

And J4. But I have never seen a tank J4

Dryditch1 votes

Fighter J4 is working better than full tank J4 lately, but yeah, he works as a tank.

Anyone remember Aatrox? If you chose him in ranked people will flame you before the game even starts

another one of my pet peeves of league. He needs a rework before getting buffed tbh

Better than 56% or whatever

So it appears you are a brand main. How would you like it if your champion was nerfed into the ground and left in the dust because he was OP with DFT a few months ago?

Brand is balanced and so should Yasuo and eehh Poppy even. They WILL make him from his godlike state to normal. watch.

what i said . . . . . . . . . you

I am irrelevant. it is the champions that should be nerfed accordingly.

Yeah, hes my second favorite champ. But man if you want to win, you need to play someone that is boring as hell, like Garen Kayle Irelia MasterYi

She is doing significantly better than she was before her rework .. a year ago?? (I don't remember how long it has been)

She is really not the best at .. well, anything. I would say she is more of a backup flex pick champion.

I don't think she needs a rework if that is what you are talking about.

Marshbouy1 votes

46% win rate is not great.

So? That only means she needs changes to find a niche more.

I never said rework I said buffs.

Handy Sandy 1 votes

46% winrate because nobody really plays her, I barely see any poppys in a game. She's pretty strong in my opinion.

she's a great champion with a great toolkit, and when on release she had a god tier win rate, just riot threw a lot of harsh nerf swings in her direction.

Marshbouy1 votes

That's why she needs buffs.

Elite4Runner1 votes

I never said it was great, but it is not possible for every single champion to have a greater than 50% win rate.

Yeah, that is pretty much true, she doesn't really have a niche.

The problem with trying to fix her with buffs is that it is very likely for them to turn her into a very oppressive bruiser if not done properly.

I actually like her where she is. It is not a bad thing to have some middle ground champions who work well in various team compositions.

Marshbouy1 votes

So basically, "sucks to be you poppy, you have to take the short end of the stick so sona can stay 53%" or another 50+% winrate champ?

Then they do it properly. They run that risk with every champion in league. That is a non argument.

A champion should be balanced and viable outside of a composition. Not balanced in one.

You do know this is a team based game, right?

Marshbouy1 votes

careful now. I'm going to end up cracking my skull with how hard you make me facepalm. Let me set up an example for you.

Caitlin, lux, yasuo, malphite, and amumu are all in a team comp. They have a lot of siege with cait and lux plus great poke with cait lux and yasuo. They also have terrific engage with the yasuo malphite amumu combo. These are 5 champions that are all balanced by themselves. Their power is enhanced by a team comp.

You should not have to pick a team comp just to make a champion viable. That is stupid.

When the biggest argument for why she "needs" buffs is her win rate, you have to realize that no champion is truly balanced if victory is not dependent on how they work with a team.

aaaand that's gibberish.

Right now Poppy is probably worse off than prior to her rework. Her passive is one of the most wonky passives out there. It often interrupts autos upon reset and just doesn't feel very smooth.

Her CC is not as easy to pull off now and therefore she isn't as dependable and her overall damage took a hit. My opinion is she is best played as a support where she can peel and make plays for her ADC. But there are many supports that just fill the role better.

In solo lane or jungle her wave clear or jungle clear is just too slow imo. Anymore when I land a stun I feel like the person just positioned so horribly that they basically let it happen. When you play against people who know how to position and kite she just doesn't feel very good to play.

It's too bad because her new character model is really cool. And buffing her movespeed on her worst ability isn't going to help. Not when slows are so rampant.

Marshbouy2 votes

It's even sadder when you reailze she is one of the harder counters to yasuo and even when he is popular she is still low winrate.

Calabok1 votes

Poppy's balanced nicely now. stop with trying to make her OP again.

Marshbouy1 votes

that 46% win rate sure is balanced.
