"Hunter's Machete Compensation" What ?

I don't understand this shit in the patch notes... Did only 3 champs get compensation for the loss of attack speed ? Yi, Noc and Diana. Like what ? Just played Vi... I was canceling AA's left and right, the attack speed was trash.

I don't understand this kind of balancing... you make scuttle so worthy of taking, lower exp AND cancel the bonus attack speed you got from jungle item.... sooo ok, you nerf the jungle and the strong junglers. then what about the junglers that weren't that strong ? they get obliterated. how does that make sense ?

Machete lost attack speed and gained on-hit damage, so for most champions the power is about the same (perhaps slightly lower). But for some champions for whom attack speed was extra valuable, this was a nerf (not huge but significant), so a few of those got compensation.

Vi, with her w passive attack speed and auto resets, did not lose near as much clear speed (if any), as the extra 10 on-hit damage is about as good as +15% attack speed for her, so did not get compensation. At least that's my interpretation of things.

for any champion 15% AS worth a lot more than 10 on hit dmg -_- Even from the point of simple cost efficiency.

That depends entirely on how much base damage you were hitting before on monsters.

75 would be the break point, if you were hitting less than 75 per hit before it will be a buff, more than 75 it will be a nerf (assuming no other attack speed buffs).

Realistically for most champions it probably wont change their clear speed very much, but if a champion is heavily reliant on attack speed for damage (for example, some of the ones given compensation buffs) the removal of attack speed would be quite noticeable.

So overall the compensation buffs make sense to me.

Not for level 1 clear, for example if a champion had 40% attack speed, and 64 base damage, the clear would be faster with additional 10 on-hit damage, than additional 15% attack speed. For Vi starting w (the standard start), the attack speed is 30%, so the total dps is slightly less, but by less than 1%. Once auto reset is available (usually level 2), clear is actually slightly faster with the new machette.

Long term gold value is less important here, it is the clear speed before the first back that's most impactful result of this change.
