Add a new base item to protect turrets in laning

Ohmwrecker should have an item that helps your own turrets as well.

Costing 1200 gold, similar to a spectres cowl except instead of giving you hp regen it gives nearby towers hp regen.

Ohmwrecker active on towers now strengthens your own turrets, so it can be used defensively instead of strictly offensively.

I feel like this is a nice addition for top and bottom lane to keep turrets from dying so early, as well as offer some protection from under turret poke. Thoughts?

Wouldn't be a bad idea, if it would actually matter at all.. The speed at which towers go down is so absurdly fast that you would almost never get use out of it unless the enemy team had 0 coordination or intent to push in any way or the item itself was beyond broken. A lot of games first tower goes down within 8 minutes of the game starting, sometimes even faster and late game towers are basically worthless dropping in seconds to any ADC or pusher of any kind. What's the value if nobody can buy the item when it matters. It would have to be a starting item or close to it to have any impact whatsoever on the game.

It would be kind of cool if Ohmwrecker short-circuited turrets into become electrified like Doom Bots are able to do. It might become overly frustrating if viable though. I think that Ohmwrecker should maybe have an effect unrelated to turrets at all, since I know the Ohmwrecker player it was designed for was never very happy with it being a niche item that was typically used by supports (if ever used at all). Ohmwrecker, the player, wanted an aggressive mage item to fit his playstyle if I recall correctly. Maybe it would be better if it was merged with item 3030 and became a item 3145 item that slowed enemies with a projectile. It could also be made into a magic resistance-shredding item, or it could temporarily slow enemy ability cooldown rates or something. Just bouncing ideas.

I think item 3056 might see more usage if it was able to boost allied turrets in addition to shutting down enemy towers.

Which is literally what i suggested

Yes, I don't disagree with you on this. There is a reason my post was in response to painted rather then posted in response to you. He was talking about giving it effects unrelated to towers. On the topic thou id personally love to see things like providing something slow to enemy units moving towards the tower (escape tool), enhanced damage/rateofire/range (tower steroid for anti dives), or tower shots heal allied champions in range (sustain for champs zoned to under tower). Hell even just giving towers a bouncing attack (gives champ who used it gold for kills) would be cool as it could allow for tanks/supports to shove waves back solo when needed. Plenty of ways to go about a really unique and fun active with out breaking the game.

One thing to keep in mind is that the item was designed as a player reward for a guy who helped make League successful early on via a huge number of new player referrals. That guy was never satisfied with the Ohmwrecker item concept, in part for the same reasons that it's always been a noob-trap item but also because the Ohmwrecker player wanted an aggressive/burst item to fit his preferred playstyle. Having a utility effect involving turrets wasn't something he was happy with, and the item was supposed to be designed with him in mind. I think it's better late than never to rework the item to what that guy had wanted.

-shrugs- fine by me, I'm ok with some more good burst mages items being added.

Tiamat and Bami's Cinder already do this, it's easy to afford one of these on your first back.

How do these things heal your turret?

Quepha1 votes

They don't, they protect your turret by keeping the minion wave off of it.

Those two are not one in the same. In matchups where you need the tower for protection (where you would use this item) that will not help you.

Youre still going to get bullied

youre still going to strictly last hit

youre not going to full clear

tower still getting hurt just as much

Waveclear is very important in the early game to keep yourself from being dove. If you don't have enough in your kit then you should be getting one of these items to thin the wave when you're getting pressured.

Hibeki1 votes

Ok well you can do that and back every other wave.

The problem with an item like that is that if it sets you behind, you're just more likely to get dove and lose your turret anyway.

The idea is that it still gives defensive stats, like health and armor, while helping to keep your turret alive.
