Brand is an immobile mage with limited range, long cooldowns, many skillshots, and high mana costs. Generally, poke him down from afar so he can't afford to dump his whole combo on you and invest in boots early so you can dodge his skillshots. Engage when his stun is down and/or he's low on mana.

Don't group so tightly together when you know he has his ult, or in general when playing against Brand.

Buy Merc Treads and/or MR items so you don't get bursted down. Grab an MR spell shard or two.

Dodge his other abilities so you aren't marked when he throws out his ult. It will only bounce to marked enemies beyond the second.

Many skill shots ? like what ? you know if he W you while you are at the middle of the circle , it's near impossible to walk away to dodge it , his Q is purely the only real skillshot that can be dodgable but he buys Rylai anyway so he easily stuns you since his E is point click

His W is totally dodge-able, you just need to move. If you have boots and a brain, you can get out of the circle unless he puts it dead center on you. If that happens and you have no dashes, then he outplayed you. Be more unpredictable, strafe from side to side so he can't line anything up.

You can't dodge his E, but the range is short. Ideally, you should be in range to get E'd only when his Q is down. Play from range to force him to launch his skillshot, then retaliate after dodging it. Abuse his long cooldowns.

Buy item 3102 or item 3156, and Brand should be a non-issue.

the idea of saying if brand put his w in the center of you he "outplayed you" is the funniest shit of heard

His W has a initial delay of 0.25s where you don't see the circle, if he can W in dead center of you, you got predicted.

Especially if you don't have any true glass cannon assassins who can delete him, so now your team HAS to converge on him in order to empty his healthbar.

now your team HAS to converge on him

This mindset is how Brand gets easy pentakills.

Explain how a Vayne TahmKench Shen LeeSin and Swain can kill a brand without getting close

Imagine being punished for 5 man deathballing an aoe mage.

this is like asking how can a team consisting of Caitlyn Ashe Draven Jinx and Quinn counter Malphite

Maybe don't clump together?

The problem with brand is he doesnt really need items to deal the damage that he does, his base damage is simply too high causing him to be way too powerful a pick bot lane.

Spacesuit Spiff3 votes

Ok but serious prediction: damage creep will get to the point that deleting one person becomes trivial, so the obvious escalation will be deleting multiple people. AoE oneshot meta

I actually find a brand ult is less effective than his passive.

But... You notice it, you disperse while backing out or moving in. The strength of a brand ult (which has low base damage) is that in the chaos of a team fight its basically unnoticed.

I wouldn't mind brand if he was going mid but jesus christ something needs to be done about him bot, he does way too much damage while remaining safe, it also makes it a huge cluster fuck botlane while trying to focus on everything + dodging his constant output of abilities

MasterYi pressed R and since none of my team has hard cc, we just get aced.

He's like a kamikaza pilot, even if you focus and drop him in a teamfight first, his damage is so front loaded yet also long lasting so that he can just blow his load and he pretty much won the teamfight with DoT, burst and slows when he gets crystal scepter.

Ah, yes. Imagine being punished for standing close against an AOE mage. It's almost as bad as being punished for going in close against a bruiser as an ADC. [zombie-brand-clap]

Brand is strong but it's not a Malzahar lvl of only being strong for his ultimate.

At least you can buy a QSS to counter Malzahar ult.

King Braum1 votes

You can walk into the jungle border to get out of Brand's. The entire point of Brand's ult is that it's a powerful multi target ult, as long as you put enough distance between you and the next target, the ult is little more than an empowered Q.

I mean a well timed zonyas can mess him up and you know.. not standing together :p

lil koda4 votes

in a teamfight, a well timed zhonyas doesnt do anything besides give brand a free w q on you, they made it so if you zhonyas when he ults you it just bounces too the next target anyway

Idk if I agree with you brand is a skill shot reliant champ that has plenty of outplay potential.

His burn passive needs a tuning in my opinion.
