seriously, you can think it's a bad rework you can dislike it

BUT STOP SAYING FALSE ** TO EVERYBODY FOR THEM TO JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON

akali's shroud: -does not make her immune to tower damage, everytime she damages you inside tower range she gets tower damage, she resets tower aggro it's true but still gets the tower damage debuff that lasts for like 5 seconds (yes it lasts for 5 seconds proof:) https://youtu.be/gjH_PxE5YDI?t=100 additionally she gets to be invisble not invincible like fizz E so she gets full damage of the tower shot

-does not make her invisible within tower range, that's false you can still see her and dodge her skillshots thanks to her position knowledge

overall, it only makes her able to avoid point and click damage, and drop turret aggro

WHICH IS NOT NEW Elise can do it as well, both akali W and elise E in spider form have a long cd and can drop ttower aggro

Fizz E does not make him go invincible, only untargetable.

CatSith3 votes

Still makes him immune to skillshots/aoes, while akali can still get hit in the shroud.

If she dives with minion wave couldn't she technically time her targetable window with a tower shot on a friendly minion and go back into stealth before the tower fires?

before the tower fires?

No, everytime Akali damaged anivia in the ability previous the turret always managed to shoot a turret shot

MadSeer6 votes

I know, but I'm talking about doing the same thing but with a friendly minion wave on the tower. The tower is firing on the creeps, that means an Akali could technically time her attack in that small window where a tower is already firing and there's a delay before it targets you. From what I'm seeing in that gameplay vid, it might be just enough time for Akali to pop back into stealth before the tower has finished targeting, therefor not actually firing.

PB4UAME1 votes

Already saw this in the leaked video on her. This is definitely a thing that can indeed be done multiple times per use of W without taking any tower damage.

That requires perfect timing and actual skill to perform everytime.

And that's if the enemy does not have any form of CC to hamper you At that point, just walk away from the shroud since it doesnt slow anymore IIRC

You got a good second or two after a tower fires to get a hit in so it's easier then you are making it out to be

Teridax686 votes

It still lets her towerdive and break tower aggro, though, which is what people have been pointing out so far. Additionally, even with her position revealed, she still cannot be targeted while her position is revealed, which will arguably make her even more frustrating in these scenarios than if she were fully invisible, as it provides partial untargetability. There is a clear difference between a mechanic like this, and something like Elise's Rappel, since Rappel can only provide untargetability once, whereas Akali's new W can refresh this invisibility/partial untargetability multiple times over. The Boards may be misinformed in thinking that the full invisibility makes Akali totally unrevealable, but their core criticism about her tower-diving capabilities and counter potential still stands.

Difference is early on you can trade with people undertower with the shroud, Go in, W, walk out for passive, go back in, repeat. You can't really punish it either since as long as she's in shroud, even CCing her makes her reset tower just to walk out. She still heals up too so it's pretty free to have an extended trade.

Elise requires landing her stun if she wants to solo dive, or follow up because when she Rappels to reset aggro once, there's nothing else she can do unless she trades kill for kill, she either commits or leaves, or prays her teammate can finish somebody off while tanking without dying. Elise likely will tank 1 or 2 then rappel and be forced to tank the rest or leave. Akali will constantly weave in resets

and everytime you do that, you get a tower shot for every second you spend targeting an enemy you get a tower shot

and her turret debuff damage is not reseted

Say Elise / Akali are at a point in the game where it takes 3 tower shots to kill them.

Elise has to tank 1, Rappel, then she's forced to take the other two or bail.

Akali can jump in, take 1, then shroud, take another, and shroud again, and if she heals enough, take another and shroud. If she can't go hard for it, she can do this to trade, then heal back up and repeat the process to kill them.

Its also possible to avoid the tower shot if you time it as the tower is aggroing a minion (travel time to minion can result in you stealthing before it begins to travel to you.)

You realize:

  1. The longer she's in the shroud, the faster it leaves.

  2. The shroud slowly disappears while she's there, which restricts her movement and possible positioning within the shroud.

  3. The enemy and the enemy turret can target her whenever she actually takes offensive action within the shroud.

  4. You can just back up from the shroud.

  5. If she fucks up, she has no real means of escape unless she ults, if she has ult.

Tormentula2 votes
  1. it last longer as you weave in an out, all you have to do it walk into the center or outside with E to extend it.

  2. point 1. She's very mobile and can either just walk away in the shroud, or E, or if 6, ult, or do all that to one shot the opponent and walk away. The only restriction is shroud doesn't go over terrain, so it can clump up on one side, but that could also be looked at as benefit since it'll clump up so it doesn't feel like it extends and making you lose ground, either way, both still work out in some way.

  3. only if you can punish her hard enough. If you CC her in combat, she'll still be in her shroud when not moving so you will lose the aggro and vision to hit her. As for enemy damage and turret damage, it depends on matchup I'd imagine, we don't know her scales or bases but its not hard to tower dive nowadays and kill squishy immobiles, especially with assassins, its a matter of getting out and akali can easily do that.

  4. you can back up from the shroud, but can you back up from Akali, especially with her seemingly global E dash if you mark them? This is kinda like yas running you down except yas doesn't reset aggro. The most you can do is pull her really deep away from her shroud, which if thats the case, zoning is going to be annoying.

  5. E, R, W still makes jukes/dodges/CC stalling not a problem.

Her E goes into fights, and her R's a long cd. Regardless, any moment she reappears, you're free to hit her again. Also, nothing says you can't just drop aoe on top of the shroud like we all do now. Now that she doesn't drastically reposition while dropping it, you know she's in the shroud, so drop aoe on it and she's bound to get hit.

Boo hoo? Bruh you're under your own turret. You're acting like she's got a perma-Taric ult on her head. Jesus, man.

You can just dodge the hit confirm on E or have a minion tank it. It also hits the shroud, so can she even do it from within the shroud?

  1. E, R, W still makes jukes/dodges/CC stalling not a problem.

What else do assassins fucking do? TANK?

Akali is SO HOT5 votes

Actually, Akali becomes completely immune to damage and CC for the rest of the game and her shroud does 100% max health true damage to enemies. I know this for a fact because I saw the reveal trailer.

Baron von Jiggly4 votes

dude, it seems you are forgetting like... one of the key things about Akali. She's a burst assassin with high mobility. with her shroud, she could literally dive someone low on health trying to farm under tower. Burst them into high hell, and then just use her insane mobility to get the fuck out of there before even a single turret shot manages to land on her.

This shit is amplified on literally any immobile champ. The second you get low on health Your ass is done regardless of a turret or not. especially when Akali hits level 6 and can just GTFO even faster. Her shroud isn't the only reason she is gonna be busted as fuck and need nerfs.

her whole kit plays into it.

Also let's not try to compare this even close to Elise. Elise can only jump to targeted enemies and is a sitting duck afterward.

Fízz v23 votes

Not sure how it works but I remember using Fizz E and then the tower debuff thing reset lul

Also Akali can do it multiple times in a row which is.. p strong. But Im not hatin, she gonna be my second main [sg-ezreal]

D357R0Y3R3 votes

she can do it multiple time BUT STILL gets tower damage

because invisibility =/= invincibility, if the tower shoots a shot she gets damaged

look at her W video

Oleandervine7 votes

But if she takes turret aggro, runs into her shroud, it's instantly removed. This is utter bullshit. Turrets are supposed to protect allies, not conveniently forget enemies exist because they walked into a massive smoke cloud.

ok, so you say we have to remove fizz E and elise E? And all the other similar abilities?

do that first, then we will talk about Akali

HalcyonDweller3 votes

Downward comparisons are not a valid argument.

Oleandervine4 votes

Can they do it REPEATEDLY just because they made an AOE zone near the turret? No, their aggro dropping abilities first of all are on long cooldowns, and secondly stop them in pretty much the place they were, requiring them to react once they come back into turret range.

D357R0Y3R2 votes

{quoted}

Can they do it REPEATEDLY

IT DOESNT MATTER IF SHE DOES IT REPEATEDLY OR NOT BECAUSE SHE DOESNT RESET TURRET AGGRO DEBUFF

Oleandervine4 votes

But the turret stops firing on her when it happens. The debuff is irrelevant if she can dart in and out of her cloud between shots to attack enemies.

D357R0Y3R2 votes

Yes it does, but everytime she damages you again the tower attacks her again and the damage debuff is not gone so in the end nothing changed it's only good to drop the aggro ONCE if she does it multiple time it's as if she never dropped the aggro

Oleandervine2 votes

Are we looking at the same video here? I see her rush LeBlanc under a turret. She drops her cloud, takes a turret shot, then it stops firing when she enters her cloud. She rushes out, kills LeBlanc, then takes another shot, before it again stops firing on her (without any minions nearby) where she escapes through her shroud. So where does it show where the turret is firing on her while she's in her cloud?

D357R0Y3R1 votes

where the fuck is leblanc they took anivia for her ability preview

P R I S M Corp2 votes

That would require extremely tight timing and no outside interference (cc, slows, creepblock or people just, walking away)

Oleandervine5 votes

Why do people think breaking turret aggro before a shot is fired is somehow hard? We all do it ALL the time in the game when we get too close to a turret and see the red line targeting us. It's not a difficult feat in the slightest.

PB4UAME4 votes

Legit I do this type of shit on melee champions every lane to chip in damage while they CS under tower. If a goddamn Garen can walk in, Q his lane mate, and run out before the tower hits him just from leaving range as an immobile champ, I see no problem at all for Akali.

ninjaroxas3 votes

It's pretty much second nature to most. Odds are you do it all the time without really thinking about it.

Tower aggro switching to her would mean she atleast takes 1 shot.

And what is she gonna do afterwards ? she cannot stay in her shroud forever without doing anything

Oleandervine2 votes

That isn't even remotely true, and you know it. You can take turret aggro before the next shot is fired, and move out of range (i.e. break the aggro) before the shot is fired. People do it all the time.

And obviously, with the size of her shroud, she can easily escape turret range. What else do you do after breaking turret aggro?

Fízz v21 votes

The question is if the tower damage debuff resets in her W or not. Because the first tower hit with item 3157 would do like 100 or 150 damage

The question is if the tower damage debuff resets in her W or not.

it doesn't test it with fizz it won't work

Fízz v24 votes

I... think it does reset when the tower stops attacking actually. In the W reveal video the 4th tower shot does like no damage https://youtu.be/eduDezPvJ2M?t=25s .

But she still takes damage everytime she does damage to you so.. its not like she is gonna dive you with it from 100%.

D357R0Y3R1 votes

if you wait that long like in the video YES you will reset it just like anyone

but she won't be able to drop tower aggro every second, else the debuff won't be reseted

point of this thread is to remove the idea of "akali can dive you without taking damage" because this is bullshit the shroud in your situation just acts like a shortcut to get away from tower range aggro you also can't do that eternally, they showed anivia but anivia will punish you hard with her ult if you try to do that

Hyquiem1 votes

At least in the rework she has skill shots.

As having Elise as on of my 8 mains, yeah, her spider E is actually ridiculously long.
