Many Mages can still succeed in bot lane, people just don't play them.

There are many mages that can still perform well bot right now at least to the extent of the latter half of the crit marksmen pool. The only reason you don't see them is that the people that want to play these mages just play them mid, and ADC mains play what they main bot, "ADCs..." The only reason we saw a lot of Swain/Heim bot and it stuck is because it was OP and people wanted to abuse it.

It's not that they were the only option, people just wanna abuse elo and if they can't they'll just stick to what they know and play mages mid and adcs bot.

TLDR; in a world where mages and marksmen are even bot, mages will never be played bot over mid.

Nah. I personally prefer mid over bot because most mages prefer the level advantage. Also most mages cant farm as good as adcs can. Mages also have mana further restricting their capabilities in lane.

People don't play League of Legends to be fun or creative anymore.
It's no longer about celebrating a meta and rather about completing a god complex challenge: "IS UR E-PEEN BIG ENUFF 4 CHALLENJOUR??!".

I disagree , depending on the mage you play , it's hard for mages to farm with Auto attacks in a lane where 2 people are poking them and at the same time that mage has to poke Most of mages are actually bad against Tank support , except Brand Taking a mage in bot lane means you are sacrificing the class who can melt Tanky champions , like Tanks , Bruisers and stuff that's for bot laners who take cs but as for mages who play support?

Only few are not viable , the rest not bad but you are actually sacrificing your adc's safety if you take them , but I'll mention the ones who can't work as support since most of them can . Ahri ? Has a very low base dmg on her abilities , she needs a lane for herself alone since most of her power comes from snowballing when Ahead , because being in bot lane means she has to share exp

Azir has a very bad early in the first place because of the nerfs , I don't think going bot lane and sharing exp is a good idea

Cassiopeia IDK , I just can't even think of this champion being able to be useful as support

Viktor Don't even ask why he will never be good as support

Swain Support is surely a bad idea , he has to take cs

However , personally I like Katarina support , she has a very high early damage because of daggers , it's not easy to not to get close on her daggers because of the pressure since there are 2 players in bot lane , lvl 6 is basically a double kill if your enemies wanna farm.

but honestly personally I prefer marksmen being a primary pick in bot lane , that's my opinion and most of enchanter supports mains opinion

At the end most of marksmen just can't go other lanes ,

Some bruisers are really hard to stop when fed for Melee ad carries if they are in jg or mid

Most of Enchanters kits are better when supporting a marksman anyway

I main mages btw but I try to play support a lot to prevent some trolls and bad games especially when we get an autofilled support , and eventually I reached Mastery 7 on a lot of supports

Nope.

With that argument adc can already be played anywhere

Automated Riven8/23/2018, 10:14:22 PM2 votes

Just because it 'can' be done doesn't make it optimal. Mages scale on levels. So a mage that is two levels down is worse off then an adc who is two levels down. Because an adc is missing out on very little in terms of ability damage compared to a mage whom is missing out on far more important based damages and cooldowns.

So yes. Mages can be played bot. However most of the time it isn't optimal.

I think Cassiopeia is quite underrated, she has a really strong early game, and I think she could be decent.

Malzahar and Ziggs are both my go to bot laners when put in the adc position, personally. Unless my team really needs physical, then I go MissFortune .

RedCyclone8/24/2018, 8:07:41 PM1 votes

AP Dark Harvest Sona is still nice to run there, because early she needs the protection of a ADC Atleast that is when your team dosen't think you are trolling

Khristophoros8/23/2018, 5:41:28 PM1 votes

I think you're right mainly because ADC players don't seem very willing to expand their champ pools beyond ADCs and mid mains prefer to go mid. But I hope that player perception does not go too hard against mages bot lane moving forward. Whenever I have to play bot I'd rather play my main champ.

Playing mages bot is just so.. meh. I miss being able to play Swain and actually feel like i have an impact in the game before the 30 min mark

The major problem here lies in waveclear. What are you gonna do if you're oom and the enemy botlane turns on the pushing game. Earlygame waveclear can't match an ADCs waveclear as (with the exception of Azir) the majority of all mages have slow moving projectiles as auto attacks. An ADC might as well already have hit 2 AAs while a mages second AA is still flying or just went out.

We already know that all kinds of different champions can work as an ADC substitute, it's just a matter of answering the 'is the advantage I get from doing that outweighing the downsides of it' question. For most mages that question can be answered with a no.

yeah, i played against a vel /raka lane in high plate elo a few games ago...it is so cancerous. You can't really trade with them and you getpoked to high hell.

When my team goes full AD, i still go Swain and have 0 problems in lane as long as i get a functioning support (just like with any pick botlane actually). He's so hard to poke out of lane, and so hard to engage on, very few marksmen can actually compete with him in lane and he has enough damage and utility to scale into mid-late game and still be a threat.

People (including myself) just prefer to play adc in the botlane because i cant take them anywhere else, if i wanted to play a mage, i'd go mid, if i wanted a carry melee i'd go top, if i want to go adc i will ONLY queue for botlane unless im going something really off like AP Ezreal or Corki.
