About the Lux Buff...

Riot needs to understand that this buff is going to be way too strong. You are giving a champion access to her ult twice as fast, an ult that already has one of the lowest ultimate CDs in the game. This can be abused in lane so badly, one ultimate kill and when your laner walks back in the lane with their ult down, yours will be back up. And for another minute you have full control of the lane, or a free kill if they don't respect that. And late game is gonna be disgusting! She could possibly use her ult twice in a single team fight. Maybe even 3 times, in a rare scenario. If we ever go back to a tank meta with 30-40 second team fights Lux is gonna be pick or ban because 3 ults in one team fight is just devastating!!! There's no way she's losing that fight.

I dunno if it's all that bad. The way its worded, you have to kill them with the ult to get that payoff. Not use ult on something that then dies.

So there's no benefit to poking with ult, no benefit to wave clearing with ult, no benefit to lining up a proper 3-5 man teamfight ult, no benefit to an all-in that you kill someone with anything other than the ult. No benefit to chunking someone who got caught with an ally's CC if it doesn't also kill them, even though getting the guaranteed damage is a good thing

She's not really an execute champ, the things got a tell built in for you to flash it.

Atm, it's not gonna be that bad cause were in a 4 second team fight meta. But everyone will forget about her for a few months and we'll end up in a tank meta with 40 second team fights. And guess who'll be the queen of mid lane then. item 3089 Lux item 3089

Well idk about pro play but definitely solo que. Will certainly abuse this in low elo as I climb my smurf.

Excuse me? You mean Lux, with only three magic pen items and tanks with health and mr items that'll just get them up to 130+ mr(with runes)?

She's not gonna kill the tanks obviously, but if she snipes one carry, she can just let the tanks duke it out and take no dmg for a while then snipe another carry. And if some of that dmg splashes on the tanks its definitely a win for her.

That's assuming the carries aren't complete bonobos and notices the giant laser that's coming their way.(there's a case for if they get cc'ed, but that's what's the tanks are for though.)

how do tanks stop carries from getting hit by a pass-through skillshot?

Aimléss2 votes

Tbh, in a tank meta there is a huge amount of cc, which is gonna make the ult even easier to land. Lol I didn't even think of that. If we ever do end up in a tank meta I'm picking Lux! XD

Tanks, more then one, they are designed to effectively peel and "tank" the enemy team, ever heard of that? Did I also mention the amount of shields their supports(Janna ,Sona etc) can give to their carries? (they aren't tanks though.) Also, ever heard of item 3140 this? After all, that's what it was designed for.

BluePolarizer1 votes

Lux's ult passes through them. How do they prevent it from damaging the carries?

I'm well aware of the role of defensive tanks. I'm a plat jungle/top main. Janna and Sona are not tanks. They shield their team. Most tanks, even defensive tanks, do not have team shields. Not all tanks are defensive tanks. Many are engage tanks with high burst damage and CC.

Actually, you're right, I was talking about the q that's needed more then half the time.

In late game, E+R is enough to delete carries. Lux isn't the only source of CC on the enemy team in a typical team comp.

Except she always never had a benefit. Now she does. It has a low cooldown already regardless of the addition reduction so it doesn't matter if she spams it for other reasons. What matters is that WHEN she gets the reduction, she'll spam it even more.

The amount of overreaction is ridiculous in this thread. If lux becomes op after this buff, it will have nothing to do with the buff and everything to do with how she is perceived.

Also 3 times in one fight? She has a 50 second cooldown. At 45% cdr that is still a 27.5 second cooldown. In order to get the 30% extra (which btw does not cut her cd further in half because it is 30% not 50% simple math) she need to pop someone with the ult, meaning that someone on the other team messed up hard and got caught. Now that team then decides to run in 4v5 for some reason and fight for another 19 second straight and then someone else gets popped and then decides to fight for another 19 seconds straight? Does that not sound ridiculous to you?

If that situation actually happens to your team, you deserved to lose out on the fight because of how inept you are at the game.

I think someone said the reduction scales with levels and goes down to 50%. That's where the half thing came from, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't know, I assume that person probably was right.

Plus, unless this is lcs people don't just back away after one person dies and just because Lux's ult kills someone it doesn't necessarily mean that was the first person to die anyway. Even though it won't always work out, Lux's ult is very powerful and if she can find herself in a situation to land 2 of them in one fight it just becomes a very cheesy and disgusting advantage that's just not neccessary because she is no weaker than other mid tier mid laners like Xerath or lissandra or Veigar and I don't see them getting any buffs.

Prozzak4 votes

Ah, k well then legit, everyone I saw on here mentioned only the 30%. I see now this is correct. So that would mean best case scenario is 3 ults in 27 seconds time. Fairly quick yes, but honestly if she is continuously popping people with her ult you have other issues.

Ulquiorra9953 votes

Remember when they massively increased early cooldowns on several champions' ultimates because they considered it toxic to get killed by an ultimate and have that ultimate off CD and ready to kill you again when you get back to lane?

So can anyone explain me the logic in this buff? Lux doesn't need buffs, and even if she did that buff shouldn't be something openly stated toxic by people who make this game.

its fine. chicken little

In LANE it wont be as bad. Late game? She could potentially fire multiple per skirmish.

At least she NEEDS to get a kill to get the refresh

sobi9991 votes

She is oppressive at bot lane but she is no where near "banned in all games" phase yet. Her ult has range but if you miss it then you do 0 damage.

AninLegions7771 votes

Who cares about missing? The zoning potential is an advantage on its own.

Calabok1 votes

ult easily dodgable. just shuffle around and voila. safe.

Aimléss2 votes

In a team fight it isn't that easy. You only get a second to react. plus if she just waits for you to get cc'd or cc's you herself, you know, she has a snare, then she gets an auto reset. I hit my ult in every team fight as Lux, I'm sure if I just wait till its a sure fire kill, which i kinda already do anyway I can pop off with this.

SpaghettiVase2 votes

Plus the ults hitbox has been a huge complaint, so just dodge it sometimes isn't as easy as it sounds

LeeSin Who has the lowest ult CDR in the game? Yasuo Step aside, bitch.

Lee's ult is 60secs at max rank. Yasuo's is 30secs and he doesn't build CDR while lux does and when she has 45% CDR, her ult is at 27.5 secs so nope.

Her ult CD is low anyways... expect it to be up before yours whether or not she gets a kill on most other mid laners.

Now I think Riot's reasoning here is that the meta heavily disfavors Lux with mobility creep and such, it's much harder for her to play teamfights. Landing a good ult is difficult, just being useful in general is difficult if the enemy team can easily maneuver around your abilities. And if you don't get a good ult, you're not contributing much to a teamfight because you won't be getting your bind past the frontline in nearly all cases and what do you really have to offer anymore?

If this change were to happen, Lux wouldn't feel quite as pressured to land the perfect ultimate, which she may never have the chance to do anyways. She can instead opt to finish off a single target maybe, even if its not the carry she could still have her ult back up in 15 seconds so she doesn't feel like she's useless after ulting.

Though what you say is somewhat true this has nothing to do with fixing that problem. She still needs to land the perfect ult to get the CDR, so it rewards her for landing the perfect ult, but if what you say is true and she struggles to do that then this doesn't fix that problem at all. And she isn't the only long ranged mage that has these struggles.
