Riot is holding solo queue back because they are afraid of ridiculous queue times

Think about this, right now non-support solo player can easily experience queue times of 10+ minutes. If playerbase got split up between solo and dynamic, most soloQ players would wait nearly half and hour a game.

I guess they realized that new draft/matchmaking system needs much work before solo queue comes back.

Can you imagine the wait times for a four man queue when all the soloQ players went off to do their own thing? They'll wait three hours and finally get a masochist who demands all four of them tell him how naughty he is.

Not that inconveniencing four man premades is a bad thing; screw those guys.

all because said 4 man squad couldn't find a 5th.

Riot couldn't get ranked teams to work, because there were not enough of them to do match making in a reasonable fashion. So they integrated it into the dynamic Q. And they can't make a separate YoloQ because that would take them back to where they started.

And my only concern with this is the pub stomp Scenario. Of coarse Riot said that Premades were going to have Priority matchups with other premades. But that would only hold, as long as there are enough teams to match with. (not likely the case if Rank teams didn't have enough participants.)

As for people not wanting to be matched up with Premades, Riot is probably banking on expected values to fix that issue. (or rather that there is no issue) If the likely hood that you would get matched up with a premade was only a one in ten odds, that wouldn't be indicative of a problem.
