Can I get a Rioter's actual reason why Ryze is constantly pummeled into the ground every season?

I am really trying to understand why Riot allows the near unplayable state Ryze is in every season. Is there nothing beyond pro-play that brings enjoyment and fun?

Pro play, he is kept weak in solo queue exclusively because of pro play. Ryze is this strange engima of a champion that has a piss poor win rate in every form of his and he is like that because when he is even playable in solo queue, he is a must pick must ban in all situations pro play monster.

well currently he is god awful and has a 70% ish pick ban ratio in pro-play. he is the highest pick/ban champion in the LCS

what you stated contradicts what is actually occurring. he is performing poorly in solo Q and yet perseveres in pro play. It leads me to believe that his status is inflated since he is outperformed by a multitude of mid-laners. His presence in pro-play revolves entirely around his ult and the to my understanding his old ult wasn't the issue, it was his instant root that caused outrage. Instead of fixing the problem they searched for other problems to create.

That is what I said?

His damage is decent but doesn't provide the utility that other mages can, but yeah, before, he was good in pro play because of just instant hard CC with good damage as well.

Instead of fixing the problem they searched for other problems to create.

I mean, I guess?

I thought you said that when he performs well in Solo Q he becomes pick ban in pro but that is not the case at the moment since he isn't doing well in Solo Q but is still the highest pick/ban champion.

The only thing beneficial and reliant is his wave clear. The game currently moves too fast for him to obtain decent, safe wave clear both in solo Q and pro-play.

I gave you wrong information: http://www.gamesoflegends.com/champion/picksandbans.php?season=S8&patch=ALL&tournament=NA%20LCS%20Spring%20Playoffs%202018 That is from Spring split. Ryze isn't even being contested anymore and Ryze mains frequently argue over which build is the most optimal. RoA is terrible and new iteration of AAS only benefits one champion, Ezreal. All Ryze is good for is W set up for chain CC but solo Q doesn't understand that.

(1) Point Click Root causes coordinated ganks to be hyper-effective and force Cleanse (2) New Ultimate is very powerful in coordinated play to roam or rotate (3) Retains high waveclear capabilities to allow a play to be forced (4) Retains a threat of a 1v1, where disengage is possible on his side when not in favor

Solo Queue is your bot and top feeding before you can scale in, or your jungler rarely realizing return ganks are very effective. Coordinating ganks with the jungler don't happen often as mid, and rotating as a team certainly is difficult. Lack of optional team voice comms unfortunately. Ryze in solo queue relies mainly on his waveclear and ability to 1v1 in a playing field he is trying to create, which is much more difficult due to those attributes on their own being better in many other champions that have a more effective kit for influencing that specific playing field on their own. That being said, experienced Ryze players understand their matchup and tend to be able to scale to be more effective as grouping becomes more common and teams realize what objectives should be looked at. Ryze is good at objective help, not carry help unless he got fed in the process. Solo Queue is not exactly the paragon for objective control and macro outplays, whereas those points excel in pro play.

Like any solo que jungler ganks midlane, Like anyone follows ryze ult Power farm meta isn’t real anymore in midlane what’s a 1v1 it’s solo que where everyone else attacks you if you 1v1.

Solo Queue Jungle Rule 1: Both junglers are out to kill you. The list is for pro play, so irrelevant anyway. You need to clear waves to roam, dissuade dives, encourage dives, or split push. Still in a pro play themed thread, and that would mean organized -- so not nearly as often anyway.

Ryze loses vs quite of bit of midlane champions in 1v1 like Zed, Ahri, and Kassadin. Old Ryze could 1v1 anyone but RIP

Putting it simpler for that specific, the conditions Ryze requires for a 1v1 in his favor is more difficult to accomplish. So he relies more on all else, and has just a threat of a 1v1 under those conditions. Solo Queue demands more lane dominance usually however, and Ryze doesn't accomplish this on his own -- which is why I said experienced ones are waiting for grouping and objectives if they cannot safely bully their opponent.

Clearly pro play circumvents that status; as objectives, coordinated ganking, splits, roams, and wave control are more in line with a strategy of which Ryze excels at if allowed to be viable in holding his own decently with the kit he has, and is allowed to coordinate and use his kit for maximum effect in a team setting.

Specifically because of his ulti, the instant point-and-click root is not even an issue compared to his team tp ulti.

A team teleport is going to be OP in pro play (and garbage in solo play, especially in the kind of way the spell is implemented on Ryze) no matter how you try to work around it. And for some reason Riot insists on keeping it, even though it's been stated that the team tp was not even put into Ryze's newest iterations because of some organic lore and gameplay drive, but simply because Riot wanted him to be able to do them "bigplays"; and what's even funnier, when Ryze actually does do "bigplays" as Riot had intended, he gets nerfed into the ground for achieving what was envisioned of him?

So, why not just take the team tp ulti out? It seems like the BY FAR the biggest reason why Ryze is broken in pro scene (and hot garbage in solo queue), it's both unnecessary to Ryze's lore and gameplay design, AND Riot also very clearly hates the spell with a passion anyways. So why not start from there?

you don't need a Rioter to get the answer to a question that's been answered countless times before, regardless of what rework iterations he's on

Ryze is constantly nerfed out of solo queue because of his dominance in Pro Play. He's always been incredibly difficult to balance between both competitive fields, so they are forced to keep him sub optimal in solo queue to manage him for pros.

Hyquiem1 votes

Except the reworked is iceboxed so is azir’s. The things that would have been solid were icebox b/c some how riot enjoyed it

What is the fundamental problem with Ryze? The general population agrees that it is his point and click root (W). So why doesn't Riot just work on that? It is one ability that is causing the headache.

Its because Ryze can only exist in two states. He is either god tier or garbage tier. The only reason he keeps getting picked-banned in pro play is mostly because of his ultimate and, in a state where ADCs are almost non-existent, he is one of the very few ranged champions that can offer sustained damage in a team fight. And dont forget, Ryze was one of the reasons Abyssal Mask range and the updated item 3003 and item 3040 were nerfed.

Riot was planning some changes on him for patch 8.11 (if i remember right) but as it seems they never survived PBE testing, unfortunately.

I just hope Ryze can reach a state where he is "balanced". I really love this champion.

B/c riot doesn’t want the skill that oppresses proplayers to oppress solo que or then people would actually never follow the meta, making anything or everything viable. The problems on azir and ryze are that they oppress the enemy further more if their teams have a small lead. People get impressed by that and they try those champs riots basic Lcs audience. At the end they get nothing out of since the mid laners can’t solo carry so easily.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

Every iteration of Ryze has always been god tier in pro play so they have to absolutely gut him and make him ass in solo q in order to keep him from completely warping pro play.
