Literally just had a player say "dodge" in champion select, then proceed to int my promos

I couldn't even dodge because I would have lost the promo series by dodging anyways. And I was fairly confident when he said "dodge" he meant "dodge or I'll int".

I KNEW I needed to dodge that game and I couldn't.

I haven't dodged any ranked game in 4 seasons. And I couldn't dodge the one I needed to because I was in promo series. WTF is wrong with this system?

Like yes, fuck the player. But fuck the system. Why can't I earn dodges in promo series? Like 1 dodge earned per 10 promo series played or something.

How about 1 free dodge per promo series? Would that actually cause any issues?

It seems a little excessive. 1 Dodge per 3 game series is way more than any player would normally Dodge games, even if they were dodging when off-road meta picks were made or any of their allies either has a low win rate or a low rate on that champion, or an ally was auto filled. Being able to dodge all of those circumstances would probably make promo series too easy.

One Dodge per even as little as 3 series (or say, 30 consecutive ranked games without a Dodge, series or not) might be enough to prevent it being abused.

If the dodges are earned over a significant period of time, I believe they'd have value and not be wasted on a poor comp/off meta pick.

I wouldn't expect it to necessarily be used every promo series but that doesn't really matter right?

The fear Riot seems to have is that players would abuse dodges in promo series to only play games with favorable comps and teammates with good win rates.

If you consider that 10 people are in each match, that means a reasonable portion of games will have one person in a series. If dodges become prevalent during series because of the lack of penalty combined with increased importance of the games, matchmaking would slow dramatically.

Dodges should only be used for games where you have a decent indication someone is going to troll /feed. Anything that encourages strategic dodging isn't great for the game.

And matchmade games are already very slow due to too much dodging.

Propose a system that solves this issue without creating further ones.

I did. Let me earn a free dodge in promos if I play X promo series in a row without any dodges (say X= 5-10). Or even add in games outside of promo series if you must.

The problem of players dodging for a poor team comp or looking up their allies and seeing bad ones is irrelevant if they can only do it so rarely. You're only going to be able to dodge for real trolls, unless you're willing to risk not having it available when you do get one.

Maybe free dodges should be given out as rewards for having good honor. Thoughts?

(Also, I couldn't resist - we should get free doges too)

Do you not get your one free win if you dodge your promos?

I have no idea. I've never considered dodging in promos though, because I always assumed it counted exactly the same as a loss (so why not try to carry the troll).

I assume you ask this because if I Dodge, I should come out at 100LP (since I had 1w1L) and go straight back into the series with a free win? I'd guess I get the free win, but would have still come out at 90Lp (what I came out with after losing game 3).
