Champion mastery should be something you MAINTAIN

Skill can be lost when you stop practicing. This applies to any activity that requires a certain amount of mental and/or physical prowess. Physical sports, mathematics, painting, playing musical instruments, cooking and certainly League of Legends all fit this category.

Losing your lvl 7 mastery badge is not a nice thought, but how well you maintain your champion mastery could be a more accurate indicator of how good you are with the champion.

I have lvl 7 on Riven but I still feed on her ALL the time

I agree on this. I also think they should reset the mastery when they rework champions. Refund the tokens, have them sit in loot inventory until ready to reapply. They don't have to respend BE for it but they would remain locked until the mastery requirements have been met.

Especially now that leveling master costs 17 billion BE, I don't think it should be implemented. Tbh I don't think you ever look at mastery levels as an actual skill indicator. And what about bronze and silver players who are bad at every single champion? They should be excluded from the system or something? Mastery levels is just a neat addition to the game, it doesn't mean anything skill-wise

I expect a certain level of play from a lvl 5+ mastery champion. If you're 2/17 with a m7 champ, you bet your ass you're getting reported for boosted/account share.

I'd flame anyone for being 2/17, regardless of mastery level / elo / if they are friends or strangers

Champion mastery has never corresponded to skill, simply how much you play a champ.

A diamond player being M7 on gangplank does not mean he is as good as a bronze player with M7 on gangplank.
