I really hope with Riot accounts that riot ends up banning smurfing from the game

With Riot accounts, it's starting be like like steam and fortnite where you need a steam/epic games account to play their games. Dota and fortnite banned smurfing as they saw how damaging it was to the game as a whole.

Smurfing makes the new player experience bad, in normals and all ranks, and makes the higher end of players suffer from higher queue times and a lesser talked about thing is people potentially getting wins they didn't deserve due to a smurf on their team and ending up in a higher elo. Vsing someone 2-3 divisons higher than you can ruin the game experience easily.

I just see so many posts of people complaining about the balance of the game, when balance is met when there are equal teams against each other. That's the whole point of the matchmaking. It's to get an even game. But when you put smurfs in the mix, it causes this system to completly fail because it cannot see you are a smurf and can only blow up your MMR to help you get out of it ASAP. There are also people who have smurfs that stomp low elo and purposely throw games. There are also accounts that people use to troll. This would not happen as often if smurfs weren't allowed period.

Another huge annoyance is the fact in high elo, we have players complain that they smurf because the queue time in high elo is too long. The fact is, the people in high elo often peak or don't find it that fun to try hard or vs people of the same skill, and enjoy stomping. They then smurf to get that sense of joy and to make videos/streams to make them appear better than they are.

Often I would queue up for a game and dodging was a very common practice in high elo. Everyone looks at 3rd party websites for info on their team and if they don't have someone to carry them or a "shit" team, they dodge and play on smurfs, adding onto the problem. They get penalized for dodging slightly, but it's bypassed by smurfs. If smurfing wasn't a thing, then people would think twice before dodging as they couldn't play the game for a set time and suffer harsher penalties. They just alt between accounts so that the dodge penalty between all of them is not that harsh. Dodge once or twice on each account and just repeat. It's a huge problem that isn't talked about because the extent in which you see it isn't bad until you reach masters + elo. It's something that really killed my mood to play the game as this was something I didn't deal with during season 1-6 of me playing this game. Ever since season 7ish, it's become all too common.

It also hurts normals games. Remember when normal games were the thing to do? Blind pick is pretty dead and normal draft is the go to although it still has longist queues at times. Reason being is that everyone just plays ranked now, and treat it as the only mode. Reason being is the whole smurf mentaltiy. People make smurfs just to play with friends in lower elos for fun instead of normals, how it's meant to be by design. So it even hurts the people who just want to play casually because it's forcing ranked onto them and the chances of them bumping into a smurf is quite high. Smurfing isn't just a high elo only thing. We have people smurfing in bronze that are silver. Smurfing in silver and they are gold. You get the point. It's a huge problem that even low level players doing because they want that dopamine rush. This is why the "stomp or get stomped" mentality has been developed and people give up so easily. Because people just give up and games tend to be 1 sided by a long shot.

Regarding purchases... They'd just make 1 account the main account and all blue essence/orange essence/riot point purchases that are duplicates will be converted back into regular currency. There are plenty of smurfs who have 1-3 mains and just buy all the skins for them, so they'd have their money back to spend on what they want without losing out.

So yeah. I just really hope this becomes a thing.

I do also want to note I know this will be an extremely controversial topic and probably disapproved of. However, I think it is mandatory in this game to have a good experience for everyone. It is hard to say something is bad/wrong when it's common practice, I know.

But...you are a smurf?

Smurfing doesn't bother me by concept atm because matchmaking (MMR starting point, adjustments, everything) is so shit that it wouldn't solve anything.

Once Riot shows that they care about the integrity of matchmaking as a whole, then maybe I'll care. Currently it wouldn't generally make peoples' experiences any better or worse overall.

A challenger player moves from EU to NA , he makes a new account in this region. He has to grind it all back... Well yeah that how it works , but usually these players are for awhile in low elo. They are getting from iron to like plat in like a day.

Smurfing makes the new player experience bad

There are sepereted ques for new players in low lvl normals.

and makes the higher end of players suffer from higher queue times and a lesser talked about thing is people potentially getting wins they didn't deserve due to a smurf on their team and ending up in a higher elo.

Not sure what we call higher end elo, but let's say it starts at Dia 4, it's only 3% of players(masters+ only 0,1%), that's just too small amount to truly influence anything. Not to talk about how entry MMR is low gold, so if plat players smurfs, who cares really.

There are also people who have smurfs that stomp low elo and purposely throw games. There are also accounts that people use to troll.

Bannable and bannable

It also hurts normals games. Remember when normal games were the thing to do? Blind pick is pretty dead and normal draft is the go to although it still has longist queues at times.

Nah, flexes are new normals, at least for all ppl I know, it's semiserious mode, much better than normals could ever be as they were treated as for fun mode which ended up not being fun for ppl who like winning.

It's something that really killed my mood to play the game as this was something I didn't deal with during season 1-6 of me playing this game

Huh? Are you sure? Remember s1-2 felt almost smurfless, proly bcs not many ppl knew what was going on, but ever since s3 it felt like common practice, again, at least in my group of friends.

But I'm noticing, deep in my head, kind of hypocritic feeling, deep down, I'm pretty sure everyone feels like it's bad thing, not sure if we aren't to far with it and as we know Riot...
