I'm done playing this game. and I will tell you why

DarkinPrime··19 votes·2,548 views

Its not efficient, at all. Even if you play well by any measure---good farm, good KDA, you get objectives---the only way to climb is to be at such a high skill level that you can consistently carry the sacks of shit that will inevitably be on your team, or play the most broken or OP champs to make that carry process easier, or even possible.

The game doesn't reward very good play. It really only rewards ridiculously good play or extremely bad play (when the enemy team is just so bad its almost impossible not to win).

So the amount of time invested is not worth it. Its not fun when the way to win is so narrow, and your choices for champions dissolve to a handful. The game isn't fun, and it hasn't been fun for quite a long time.

Also, its innately toxic because it plays on human nature. As I have said before, and morons argued against me as usual, people don't do well when they feel powerless. It makes us frustrated and angry. Its quite irritating to have your personal rank be effected so severely by so many bad players on your team. The game makes people toxic. It literally couldn't do a better job of bringing out the worst in people if the game was purposely designed to do that.

This is not worth my time. You are better off playing Magic The Gathering, at least you have face to face interaction and you win or lose on your own merit, not because you got paired up with some random sack of shit.

This game is one of the worst things to happen to humanity, much like Facebook. I advise all of you to reflect on you life, what is valuable to you, what is efficient use of time, what is fun...and if you come to the same conclusion, uninstall and post that you are and the reasons why and encourage everyone you know to stop playing as well.

The game is designed to be addictive and frustrating to suck money out of people. Wake up, and stop playing. Riot can go to hell.

Lol, ranks right up there with the WW2 eh?

If you have a problem and want to quit, just quit, you don't need to make some long post complaining.

yes he does, who are you to decide this rule? it's being brought up by numerous players, it IS necessary and this issue NEEDS to be addressed.

MrHaZeYo1 votes

People who complain are of like minded people while we have millions of people who feel the opposite and enjoy playing. The reason you think you see this same thread so often is because you feel the same way, which leads me to why are you still playing?

DarkinPrime2 votes

The post wasn't that long. Don't be dramatic. Also, I do need to because I honestly think this game is bad for most people. No one is going to be on their death bed and be like "gee I'm glad I spent so many years alone in my room playing a game I didn't even enjoy"

MrHaZeYo4 votes

What if they do enjoy it? How is it different then our parents sitting in front of a TV after work?

I think for your sake you should stop talking about this, and let this guy rant all he wants. These people don’t know what a bad day really is, just let them talk.

DarkinPrime1 votes

What does that even mean? Get over yourself. Only you have lived life? The rest of us haven't ever seen hard times? Ridiculous, arrogant comment.

Mandalorian 1172 votes

Have you been shot at? Have you seen friends shot and blown up before your eyes?

Have you been in poverty? Are you constantly looking for sources of clean water and food?

Someone is always suffering more than you. That doesn’t mean your pain doesn’t count, but I personally believe my problems with a video game isn’t anywhere near as bad as problems people have all over the world.

DarkinPrime1 votes

Haha by your logic, n one should debate anything. Because nearly everything can be declared irrelevant compared to being in abject poverty or being shot at.

"Someone is always suffering more than you. That doesn’t mean your pain doesn’t count, but I personally believe my problems with a video game isn’t anywhere near as bad as problems people have all over the world."

Dude, this is a board for a specific game to talk about issues with the game. The only person out of line here is you. Get over yourself.

Your point? This is really bs post as its simply not connected to the topic. You cant compare someone saying spending the free time with LoL is not worth and world problems. If you do, get help.

Look, this was months ago. You want to hate me go ahead. I don’t care anymore. Good day.

If you think League of Legends ranks up there with a real bad day, then you probably haven't seen real hard times.

To be clear, aside from a brief stint with suicidal depression in my early adult life, I haven't seen real hard times either. However, I recognize that, and don't try to equate a video game with REAL hardship.

Baited by a necro. Woops. Didn't notice the date. Must be too early in the morning lol

DarkinPrime1 votes

Very different. Hearing human voices is often comforting and relaxing. League is obsessive and addictive. Most peple here play alone, unlike siting down with the fam to watch a favorite show. It isolates people much more than TV does.

MrHaZeYo1 votes

It's really not that different. TV is also mindless compared to a game that takes consistent thinking and strategy, mechanics.

I think the idea that people play League alone is more from how we value people in terms of skill, aka Solo Queue. It's a team game and plenty of people play it as a team but the value of their worth is judged based on playing the game solo with 4 other solo teammates.

It's why I think Dynamic Queue could of turned out much better because we should be based on a value as a team, and if not Dynamic Queue then the only rank queue should of been ranked 5vs, but then again this forces people to make friends and apparently that is super hard.

In the end though, for someone who is quitting the game you're still posting on the forums. Why can other people other people climb but you think it takes extremely good play to advance? Could it possibly be your own play that may hinder your team? What do you do with your leads? Is your build wonky for a Melee Bruiser/Tank? Do your off meta Sum Spells have anything to do with it? As much as you may believe a lot of your losses can be attributed to your teammates (lets be real we all have those games, I'm not saying they don't happen), but a lot of your losses could be attributed to yourself and your own skill.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you suck, or anything of the kind, but for me personally and this is coming from someone who has had a awful season thus far in ranked, You're better off always looking at yourself and what you can do to improve. Looking at your past 5 games, You look like a solid player, but there has to be something your not doing, warding the enemy jungle? Counter Jungling when you can't push any further? Ganking for mid? Tping for flank plays bot (well I know you're not doing this), Split Pushing when you're so far ahead that they need to send 2 or 3 people to stop you to give your team a numbers advantage Mid. Stuff like that, I mean granted that's all hard to do Solo in low Silver, I get that. Maybe it's time to try a different Top laner who can carry a bit harder? Jax, Renek, Nasus, Irelia, Cam.

If you want to all up and quit League, that's fine, nobody is going to stop you, and I wish you the best.

No. I have played many, MANY matches on other accounts using normal builds and summoner spells. The same problems occur, and the climb is just has hard. In fact, my bruisrer build took me to Gold at least last season on a couple of accounts, and for every game I win with a normal build, you still lose many when a bruiser build would have been better.

Not always, I met my bf 2015 through league and we are still together. Lol. Maybe a rare case.

Lol, ranks right up there with the WW2 eh?

If you have a problem and want to quit, just quit, you don't need to make some long post complaining.

WW2 was a temporary thing which affected a continent and two halves. League of Legends, and every game with similar practices, affects the minds of the youth the world over in subtle ways they don't even realize. Much like Facebook (or Twitter). This was the OP's point, I believe. It's one of the worst things to happen not because of the horrible carnage it's led to, but because of the sinister way it's dulling the edge of a generation, which paves the way for a dimmer future, and a world in which the next generation is worse off than the one who played League.

MrHaZeYo2 votes

There is so many things that will be the demise in our youth then video games that actually make you think, react and what not. The fact youth don't read anymore is something that will make our youth dimmer, the fact we can figure anything out at a given time just by googling it will in fact make our kids dimmer. Ya they can figure it out quick but it means they never had to care about learning it in the first place.

As far as what I said, we've been getting dumber for awhile but to state a video game is worse then one of the worst acts in history (Holocaust anyone?) is pretty far fetched. I can understand you'res and the OPS point of view but it's not just League, it's more online multiplayer games and it's in no way one of the worst things done to humanity.

The difference between us and our parents is that instead of sitting round watching TV we play video games, so we could argue that TV is one of the worst things done to humanity.

I quit league right after the Evelynn rework. I quit because I realized with that rework that Riot really didn’t care about me, the player, and instead, focused on turning me into an easy to understand and easy to manipulate statistic. They deleted The old Evelynn completely and left nothing behind. They removed her hybrid ratios and removed her movement speed, The MOST FUN and iconic parts of her kit.

Riot didn’t give a single fuck about what I thought was fun or fair. What of all the knowledge and tactics learned from playing d Eve, how will 6 years of experience transfer over to this new champ? It won’t Riot says.

We don’t care about just one polite person on the boards. We are going to oversexualize Eve so people can forget about her old kit and buy some of the oldest skins in the game. Let’s distract people with her striking contrast from her sexulized for to her demon shade form. Let’s distract them with a flashy ult. Wtf I’m 30 years old... have I been playing with children that don’t have access to decent porn this whole time?

They don’t even add hybrid ratios, reasoning... hybrids are too hard to balance..... a few months later kaisa and irelia are hybrid as fuck and damn, a decent rework that felt and looked like old irelia in a way. They lied to me. They manipulated me for years purposely keeping certain champs under tuned, purposely keeping certain champs Lcs worthy, purposefully manipulating the meta instead of letting the players build the perfect game.

I realized Riot sold out or they were never my friends to begin with. They don’t want a balanced game. Balanced games make less money. I realized if Riot was to try and ride the nimbus cloud that they would fall through.

After a month of not playing I lost all desire to play league again and my life has changed dramatically for the best. I’m not angry or sad anymore. I know Riot has it coming for doing Evelynn how they did her and I know it will hurt them bad in the end so I’ve found closure.

I’ve moved on to over watch to scratch my competitive itch, and I truly feel bad for leaving blizzard for riot in the first place. Over watch is so much less toxic and less money focused and BALANCED! My therapist suggested I pick it up particularly for that “balance” and I feel like my whole life has turned around. League is toxic and no joke, playing this game is BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH.

If you play everyday for 8 years 5+ games a days you should know you NEED TO HELP YOURSELF AND YOUR BODY. Riot will suck you dry and fuck you in the end. Besides you are learning skills that aren’t relevant in the real world and is subject to change ( or pure deletion in Evelynns case) on summoners rift. I’m glad I quit and I’m never, NEVER, coming back.

Ps fuck whoever at Riot that thought the Eve rework was ok. Just fucking admit it, the rework was just a nerf to her AD ratios and you guys just wanted her to build more predictable items. You wanted people to stop experimenting with her. God I hate that about Riot the most.

While you're not wrong about the game not being worth anyone's time, I don't think the "sacks of shit" you refer to are the core problem. A sack of shit can be turned into manure, which then accelerates the growth of crops that can feed hundreds.

If you really want to get to the heart of it, the problem is online multiplayer as a paradigm. But short of that, the game is poorly designed. By playing to your weakest member's strengths, a lot of this can be avoided, but only so much. The core issue with the game is its actual design, and that's a bigger problem than any one post can tackle. Remember, this is a game that was born of a Warcraft mod. The entire genre was essentially a fun little pet project for some modder. Building a massive game with a million-dollar revenue that aimed to change the world's perception of e-sports with that as your foundation? It was bound to be problematic.

Ive said it before, but you have to play at challenger level to get out of silver.

Either that, or you can grind with a 55% win rate and maybe 1k games later you'll get out of silver.

But basically, if you want to climb out of silver in any reasonable amount of time, you need to be sporting a 70%+ winrate, and that's close to challenger level skill.

yep, this is why i don't want to bother playing ranked, i used to dream of playing ranked back in season 1,2 and had alot of fair and challenging matches in ranked on another account in the past but ever since i returned after years of quitting it became a pile of shit you want to avoid at all costs, how they play worse than a person that hasn't played for years is beyond me v_v

I've seen a Diamond player play silvers. He was on Veigar. He was dancing around right next to them using Veigar's taunts and laughs all the while avoiding skill shots, killing them all while the rest of his team, including me was just laughing so hard we could barely even play. No. It doesn't take Challenger level play to get out of Silver. It doesn't even take Diamond. If you're stuck in high silver for a long time, you're at best playing at maybe Gold or low plat. If you're stuck in low silver, you're at best gold. Even high Plat players could waste a bunch of genuine silvers.

Interesting, it took me just under 100 games to get out of Silver this year with awful stats sporting a 49% win rate.

The year before (S7) it took me around 200 games as well to go from S4-G5. No where near 1k games lol.

Some of it is just piss poor mechanics. There is nothing skillful about getting pushed out of lane, kept from farm, or just outright killed by a champ that has more range than you do.

You need to be higer skill level to climb, u need to understand what u need to do for win and do it, it always been like this. Do things correct, and u gonna climb, if u hardstack that means you are at your elo, it means u need to play better.

@DarkinPrime I’ve been playing on-off for 5 years now. I agree with you that the community is toxic, but I don’t take their insulting personal.

To me, the game has changed in a negative way and it isn’t fun at all anymore. The main reason I haven’t quit is because I had hopes for league as it was a part of my childhood with old, good memories.

I think it’s good that you chose to quit. Now you can spend time doing more efficient things.
