Saying this for 2 years: Autofill in diamond decides games.

I literally went through 5 champ selects, just to get matched with an autofilled top lane who even after 2 ganks which he got a kill and an assist, and I burned the enemy top laner flash. He then dies 3 times in a row 1v1. Alright. And then he says "im autofilled". OK. If you get autofilled jungler, adc, mid, doesn't matter, and they're going against a main of that lane, you're now playing a 4v5 game.

Last year I peaked at d2 and then after that, every game was decided by 10 mins with "sry, I'm autofilled". I got so tilted I dropped to d5 and stopped playing ranked. Same thing is happening now, d3 right now and I just see whenever I lose a game, that dude was autofilled and had no idea what he was doing. Granted, not everything is rito fault, dumbasses get autofilled and then pick jayce or lb and feed. Like why wouldnt you just pick some braindead tank or some point and click mage ? But ok, let's lose games in champ select, it is so much fun man.

I feel that if you are at that MMR, then that player should know how to play champs in every role. Let alone they should know by now how the opposing champs they are playing against work. If they are uncomfortable in the position they are autofilled to then they need to let their JG know so they can come help them out at times.

Sure, you can play a gold level jungle/top/support, but if you play a gold level performance against a diamond level player, you're going to get crushed every which way to Sunday. Going in line with what the OP says in that it decides games. You simply cannot play a diamond performance In every role if you're a diamond level player.

Now, granted, consistent, Challenger level players can generally play at a low-mid diamond level on 3-5 roles, and similarly a mid diamond could probably play at at least a plat level on 2-5 roles, but it is very rare for someone to play at their highest skill level across every position.

Most challengers can only play like one offrole. Hell some top ranked challengers cant play 2 roles. Ever seen sneaky when he get mid? He ints. Same with dominate, dyrus, and most top (on ladder not the lane) players. This idea that people should play every role is just dumb. Pretty much the only people who play multiple lanes well are people who mains champions viable in multiple lanes.

Even myself during my prime before my perma's where i was extremenly mechanicly potent i couldnt play every single role daily unless i put a little time in it. If i'm playing jungle all day and get autofilled vs a high diamond Syndra main midlane ofc imma get my shit pushed in if i'm not fully comfortable with my pick. And beeing comfortable isnt just having experience with the champ. Can't go from playing 5 Rengar games to playing Victor in 10 mins ( average time it takes from end screen to new game ) my muscle memory is stuck on Rengars kit. This is especially more punishing to onetricks of roles. We ain't talking about garbage janna players we talking about some guy that mains tanks he can't simply move to adc in a time frame of 20minutes. Nor an adc player can just play adc for 5-6 days and then hop on Riven and start pulling KR Riven mechanics in the same level of play. Thats why most people actually go practice before ranked games be it practice tool or smurf accounts.

Also the dude is talking about high diamond soloque. People don't pick their champs randomly meta picks are consitently broken for two years now meaning there isnt much to capitalise on with how the champs are and aside from that most diamond player put time into certain champs thats why you see in their profiles like 400games but only 10 champs played. In low tiers people first time champs all the time thats why autofill means only toxicity and nothing else game affecting

That's not how any game has ever worked and you know it, there is a reason Pro players have a main position. That's like saying that if you work as a mechanic who works on motorcycles you better be able to work on diesel trucks.

I believe many players and even streamers feel the same way. Funny how the issue has been evident for years now, but nothing's been done for a fix. All because Riot's philosophy is "more games over a set period of time is more important than the quality of those games. "

Leonerdo1 votes

Their philosophy certainly includes match quality as a goal. It's a balancing act though. It's fine to say that their balance is quite right at the moment, but you can't deny that they care about match quality. (Riot uses that term all the time, you know.)

This stupid kill or lose game meta. Let's just throw strategy and playing safe out the window

This is prob the most tilting thing about this game. It starts all the way from plat 1.

I've gone days without having a quality game because the autofills just get rolled and start feeding 4 kills before min 10.

And oh boy when the autofill its the jungler might as well ff15

Normally I would say you should just learn to play with it, and stop complaining, since there's no good or easy solution. But this is a pretty big issue (assuming that it's as wide-spread as we suspect). High-elo games are supposed to be competitive, but a good portion of them are completely ruined by an autofilled player feeding.

I mean, feeding is nothing new, and autofill is a necessary evil. But the extent and frequency of this problem are crossing a line, I think. Is it possible to make it so that high-elo matchmaking will autofill an equal number of players on each team? That seems like it would help the problem without affecting queue times too much.

What's the solution here?

It used to be that high elo players were waiting upwards of an hour to get a match started. Where would you draw the line?

Ruin Lance1 votes

it makes it even worse when people don't say they're autofilled until AFTER the game starts or AFTER they start doing bad- so you don't even get a chance to have someone trade with them.

muted team chat1 votes

Who cares. It's very hard to get in to masters and the elo decay is REAL there. Hit d5, be happy you're better than 98% of players in ranked and have fun.
