Please don't kill me, but I've kind of warmed up to the Mordekaiser rework.

Players will probably need to build for Movement speed, AD, Attack Speed, and tankyness as well. A concept build I thought of would look something like... item 3009 item 3172 item 3142 item 3078 And two defensive items, or opt out of Trin-force for 3 defensive items, I dunno. If Mordekaiser bot lane turns out to be a successful and popular pick. ADCs will probably shift towards the middle and top lanes. Or even Jungling. Because item 3931 is fucking hilarious right now, but it's going to get nerfed so I'm not going to count on it. Hook supports and kill lanes are already, like, 85% of bot lane comps (Until you get to Plat, then people start playing Janna) Also the numbers on Harvesters of Sorrow on PBE right now has a hilarious rank 1 base damage, it's like, 140 per second. It's fucking insane. And I know you want me to bring up the Dragon slave. Which will now make Morde the GOD OF SIEGING. I was skeptical, with CertainlyT getting his tainted hands all over my Master of Metal. But... I'm pretty excited now, to be perfectly honest. I give CertainlyT a lot of shit, we all do. But I like his direction with this, I really do. (Except for the full exp on creep kill tacked onto his W, Bradford still has some unexplained love for pointless free stats) And thus concludes my thread of tangents.

What they want to do with him is right, forcing it down people's throats is wrong.

OperationDEEZ12 votes

I don't really get what you mean by "Forcing it down people's throats". The other rework for Morde earlier this year got shut down pretty quickly, I just hope they don't do the same for this one. He's a giant spectre in a hulking suit of armor and has a giant fucking mace. At first glance, "Burst Mage" would NOT come to mind. I wish all of his burst wasn't still magic damage though.

I mean taking a spell away from the up to now regular play style. If one liked to play Morde top, mid or jg... he has to find another chanp

I want W to be used on Minions again. That the only thing I am hating with the changes. The rest I am ok with.

OperationDEEZ11 votes

Maybe have it do half damage when touching the minion affected by his W, and make it unable to be popped when it's on a minion? It would help his waveclear, though not make him overbearing in a solo lane.

lightdragoon882 votes

Yeah only having the heal part only useable on ally champs is fine in my opinion. I just don't want to be short a spell in a solo lane.

OperationDEEZ11 votes

Yeah, actually, better idea: Half it's current base value (From 140 at rank 1 to 70) and let him cast it on himself and minions, and make it do double damage and allow him to pop it when attached to an ally.

Titan's Hydra is Morde's wave clear now. Max Q one point into E and decide which one to max second based on how the game is going. Ideally if your not Bot lane 1 point into W after LvL 6.

Unlike Ravenous Hydra the passive cleave for Titan is a CONE-shape (sound familiar), the same shape of his E. As it currently stands Titans deals 2.5% +40 physical to enemies behind target. Every 20 seconds you get an active larger cone that deals 20 + 10% of your Max HP.

Morde is a beast with these changes. Stack HP Proc Q + Hydra = wave clear.

Items to build Titans Hydra--> Dead Man's Chest--> Rylai-->Steraks Gage--> Banshee or Spirit Visage --> Tir-Force or GunBlade

Other than Gunblade which I currently believe spell vamp and lifesteal might not be required for Morde instead having HP Regen focus. Every item gives HP. This scales hard for Titan's, Sterak, and his Passive not to mention Dragon gives ~25% of his HP as bonus HP to Morde = More Titan damage, more sterak shield, more passive shield.

I figure E only becomes a priority in Bot lane if Morde goes support. But top lane is still viable especially against most top lane champs like riven who now will have issues trading with Morde which is much easier given his current kit that she can bounce around.

I try to keep in mind that they're putting in new items: Deadman plate is going to help with getting into fights, Hydra makes stacking tons of health appealing from a damage perspective (which feeds into having a huge shield).

That being said I still think his numbers need work.

I was thinking about item 3146 item 3124 item 3078 item 3157 and item 3156, eventually taking item 3116 instead of item 3124 for 10 seconds perma slow when ulting and extra tankiness. I don't think his changes are bad, the only change I don't like is his W. I think I'm gonna try playing mid and top and of course try out bot lane but only with a friend.

Instant downvotes. Woo. Time to bring out the joy lube.

No it's good. ^^ Never try Morde since ... I was not even level 30 and sucks. Maybe this rework will be good for me. XD I am still a little nervous to bring adc's to mid lane tough. I've done it with Quinn once on top lane. Was fun. Maybe, if there is more adc's at midlane it will be easier for me to do it.

And anyway. that guy made my main so ... He can't be all bad. Eh...XD

I don't trust Riot when they make broad changes to champions, and then promise that if it fails they'll revert it. We all remember the Cassiopeia debacle where she's still not a poison mage, she's gone over half a year in such a state, and Scruffy can't show his face anywhere on the boards without fans of the snake lady jumping all over him.

If Morde fails in the bot lane, will Riot revert his changes? Will they let him in that unplayable state until his rework years in the future? These shouldn't even be questions we have to ask, but I have my doubts about the answers.

Although, CerT was probably the perfect person to rework Morde. CerT has a habit of designing champs that are fun to play as, and utterly toxic to play against. Morde was already toxic to play against, at least in the laning phase, so he really couldn't do much harm here. Or at least that's what I thought. Then all of a sudden Morde is a duo laner meant to replace marksmen. You're going to need a bigger hammer than that to destroy the meta you've concreted in place for years now, Riot. You nurtured this meta, protected it, defended it, balanced champions and items specifically around it, and now you're going to try to change it?

Good luck. The Rioters of the past haven't made it easy for you, but I hope you succeed. Maybe someday we can have a team composition be viable without a marksman, as insane as that might sound.

OperationDEEZ11 votes

You got that right, look at Darius ,Thresh ,Yasuo (AP Yas represent) and more. Like I said, he's not going to Replace marksman. With an AD build and magic damage burst? Nah. They'll probably send the ADC either top or mid, depending on the champion. Vayne would be better suited for top than mid, and Ezreal would be a better choice for a mid ADC. Must I bring up Quinn top? If Morde does become a popular pick. Expect the ADC meta to shift. Ezreal will likely see more play, in the middle lane specifically. Whereas Jinx will likely see less play. which I am totally fine with, btw.

CerT said himself that Yasuo was his attempt at making a melee marksman that could go bot lane and replace the AD on the team. Looking at his kit, at least when it was first released, that makes a whole lot of sense. His passive made him difficult to poke down, he's got enough gapclosers to reach even the most perfectly placed ranged champions, he can poke back before going all in, and his wind wall stops just about anything a marksman or support could throw his way.

But even back then when his kit's numbers were too high, no one played him bot lane for very long. The reason was that melee champions have to get into the middle of a fight. They can't stand behind their front line and take pot shots from safety, they must sacrifice that safety in order to kill things. Ranged champions can also take towers safer, since it's much better to be attacking a tower from inside your own team than directly underneath it where you're vulnerable.

CerT is trying for round two with Mordekaiser. And he's a learned a few things. One of the most important things is that you can't give a champion a kit designed to resist two champions at once without it being horribly overpowered in a solo lane. That is, unless you force that champion into a duo lane by having one of their abilities not function without a teammate. He's also making sure Morde is tanky enough to wade into battle and apply his damage without instantly getting destroyed like a Yasuo would. In fact, if he made Morde somehow able to siege towers from range and let him deal physical damage instead of magic, he might actually be a replacement for a marksman.

youre only accounting for the existing items. i think some of the newly introduced items are going to work well with him.

theyre adding dead mans plate to summoners rift too. so running up to someone with 100 bonus movement speed, then smacking him in the face might become an option.

titanic hydra is potentially a large range cone attack on his q. etc.

OperationDEEZ11 votes

Oh shit, you're right. I haven't looked up what the new items are, I haven't played BMB. Thanks for the remind.

Sasogwa1 votes

No item 3146 ? So they also removed the resists from his W, you'll need resists as well.

I'd rather go for sthg like item 3158 item 3146 item 3078 (not sure if triforce is that great) item 3065 item 3143 item 3026 40% cdr seems really strong but I'm not sure I'm ready to buy item 3110 with a manaless champion... especially since that item was nerfed. PS : why would ADCs ever shift to another lane? It's not like Mordekaiser's gonna bully them... and if somehow he was OP, he'd just be banned and meta would stay the same.

Also... 140 over 4 seconds.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

If Mordekaiser begins getting picked in the bot lane, his team may pick an ADC in another lane (i.e. Vayne or Quinn Top, Varus or Corki Mid) for their high consistent damage and ability to siege towers.
