Kog'Maw's Bio-Arcane Barrage goes through Jax's counterstrike

FalconPawwwwnch··29 votes·1,785 views

The autoattack damage is dodged, but the %health magic damage goes through completely.

Meanwhile Irelia's Hiten Style is completely negated. Vayne's Silver bolts will not proc on Jax unless she uses condemn for the third stack, and Warwick's passive is completely dodged/

Additionally, Gangplank and Ezreal's Q are completely dodged, but Nasus's Q's bonus damage is not dodged. Both are autoattack modifiers that fully proc lifesteal.

Can we fix the consistency here? This has been in the game for years but has never been addressed by Riot. Either make all on hit effects go through or make none of them go through. Don't just pick and choose

Yeah, the need to fix the interactions between all the various AA modifiers and Block/Dodge/Blind/Parry

Block/Dodge/Blind/Parry should negate ALL the effects of auto attacks, including base damage, on-hit effects, and any CC, buffs, or debuffs that come with the attack

Gangplank and Ezreal's Q are straight up AAs. They arent AA modifiers, they are treated entirely as AA.

Nasus's Q is a modifier. The AA portion of it gets blocked, and the bonus skill damage doesnt. Just like with Bio-Arcane Barrage.

Vayne's Silver Bolts wont apply until an AA is landed. Her AAs dont land during Counterstrike.

There are a few outliers, but Counterstrikes makes sense with literally everything you listed.

Ezreal's? So is Ezreal Q an autoattack with scaling that can't crit?

Durzaka3 votes

Yes. It is treated entirely as an AA (spellshields also treat it as a spell obviously).

No it doesn't lol

There is absolutely no difference between the mechanics of the on hit damage of Warwick's passive and Kog's W

Okay sure... but why? Why are the two that actually have nothing to do with auto attacks (aside from the scaling) considered auto attacks? Whereas the ones that are actually auto attacks don't count as auto attacks? And also, if the damage from bio-arcane barrage goes through, shouldn't damage from items like item 3115 go through as well? Since it's an "AA modifier"?

It is pretty easy to understand.

Gangplanks Q is coded as a melee auto attack. Kog'maws W is coded in such a way that each of his AAs during it are a spell.

that surely explains why gps Q ignores spellshields while Kogs W gets blocked by them...wait, it's the otherway around, kogs W ignores spellshields and Gps Q get's blocked...

Also, Ez Q actually hit's through jax E, so does GPs Q, atleast last time i had that matchup, so i don't know why the OP says they get dodged...

I have played about 200 games as Jax. Ez Q and GP Q do not go through his E

while at it, cleaning up on-hit, on-spell and on-attack would be a nice thing to do aswell. Why does Jax's ult proc on-spell(rylai's, spellvamp...) every 3ed aa, but diana's passive doesn't, neither doe's tf's E... why does Fizzs W active apply on-spell, but kogmaws does not? Why do elise spiderlings apply on-spell, but malzahars voidling's don't? Why do zyras plants apply on-spell, but heimers turrets don't(atleast not with normal attacks) Why do double strikes count as two seperate AAs for all purposes, ust not for devourer? Why is Cho's E a on-attack and doesn't work with devourer, but Xin's Q is on-hit and does work with devourer?

even though most of those questions culd be answerd with 'cause balanceing', but ther still is simply a massive lack of clearity...

I can at least guess why cho isn't triggering devourer Vorpal spikes are an on-Attack effect, not an on hit effect That's probably where the disconnect is

If it works that way it's probably because it's an on-hit effect. Aatrox's full W also goes through Jax's E.

Nasus Q goes through. Only reason Nasus can beat Jax.

Another reason is because Nasus can slow Jax's attack speed

Well, Kog's W is stopped by Jax's dodge... I know that one for a fact. Nasus's Q though is known to not be dodged. Surprised it's even parryable or Blockable because let's be honest, a 1k Q shouldn't be mitigated by a puny shield or Fiora's steel blade. A magic shield, sure, but a physical, mortal object someone stopping that Q or a Jax attempting to dodge the ungodly pimp cane of DOOM? SHOULDN'T HAPPEN!

But yeah. Susan's Q can't be dodged, but it can blocked or parried. Which is funny, 'cause.. you know... his Q has the destructive force of a little over 300 souls (Minion or jungle monster souls, but still souls) but Panth can put his shield up to block it and Fiora can deflect it with her blade.
