New Karma Rework Not Addressing Any Issues *Meddler*

Meddler, this ridiculous comment needs to be brought to your attention.

> Yeah, I'd agree old, old Karma (pre 2013) went deeper into fights, though even then not as deep as some champs. One of the issues we run into here is that the majority of people playing Karma at this point never played that original version of Karma. If we're making changes using that as guideline of what's desired we're then serving a small subset of the Karma player base ignoring feedback from a lot of others. Reverts on things like that can work a lot better when the change was more recent by contrast and the majority of the engaged audience have experience with the older version.

Many years ago, and you know who I am because I have specifically tagged you in almost every thread and had several conversation with you about Karma, I told you would use time as an excuse to never work on Karma. Look what you just said. I told you and everyone that you would use this excuse. You said it and you basically admitted it.

Karma's place in this game right now is a result of your work ethic. The champion remains the way she is the past 5 years because of your work ethic. There is friction and confusion between new and old Karma mains because of your work ethic. This entire argument and, another thread, talking about your ignorance towards this champion is a result of your work ethic.

After talking to Riot NeuroCat in Discord about Karma, none of her character, art, gameplay and identity problems are being addressed in any capacity. All of these problems are the result of a relaunch (VGU) that is still not accepted by the vast majority of Karma mains and proves in itself with time that it is a massive failure. You continue to sweep the problems under a hypothetical rug and use time and new Karma players as an excuse for nearly anything you do on her. Karma's identity in game is not being addressed with this rework. Karma's art problems and incomplete art assets are not being addressed with this rework. Karma's character and theme is not being addressed in this rework. What is this rework going to do that is going to tackle all of her problems that every single person in your company knows is the 2nd worst VGU/rework in LoL history?

The lore retcon for Karma was not received well because of the same mistakes that every Department in your company makes: you give us half arsed work that is not acceptable on any level when you refuse to actually listen to the players that care about the champion and want what is best for the champion. There was a major backlash because of that very reason alone and there is still backlash about her art, kit, and theme for that very reason.

You basically said you are aware of the problems but you have to honor new Karma players because they are the vocal majority. News flash, they are the first ones to stop playing her and buying content related to her, because she is no longer meta with her shields and shield enhancing items. News flash, they are the first ones to insult Old Karma players who have always been more accepting of their views on new Karma (not me in particular but other people) but hate on Old Karma players asking for favorite parts of their old champion back. News flash, new Karma players will be the first ones to say she is a support backline champion when 5 years ago Karma was considered a mage and was more successful and fun to play as a mage (backed up by your own Development team 5 years ago).

The rework is not addressing problems with Karma:

  1. Passive is remaining in place and still feels like a missed opportunity to give Karma an actual direction in this game and to give her a cool theme.
  2. Q and Mantra Q is still blocked by minions and the blast explosion is useless.
  3. W and Mantra W is not going to give her a direction and it was even stated that it would open Karma up to jungling more. What does this do for her kit, theme and direction in the game? Nothing. It's just another role she can abuse when she has no place in it.
  4. Mantra E is probably going to remain the way it is and shield bomb isn't coming back. This will continue to be the ability that dictates how Karma functions in the game, because you want an Enchanter that mass shields and disengage.
  5. You will not address Karma's rushed and sloppy model update and the fact that her new and amazing splash arts do not match in game models. She still doesn't have a shield casting and running animation.
  6. She will still be ignored, have no direction in this game, be in the same state for the next 5 years, and you will not work on any part of her art or theme.
  7. Finally, the most requested thing that the fans want back are her actual fans. Ask NeuroCat . . . that is what they wanted back. They don't want some horribly animated taunt that is on one or two skins. Karma mains want her actual fans back. That's not happening either, now is it?

The realization is this is a cover-up and you continue to do what I said you were going to do the past few years: use time as an excuse to never work on this champion and address her actual problems created by the relaunch 5 years ago. None of Karma's problems are actually being addressed. This is just another baindaid fix you are going to say wasn't the actual work you wanted to do on her, but you cannot do anything because of new Karma players. NEWS FLASH! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT AND THE VERY REASON NOTHING CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WITH THIS CHAMPION. You created the division and you are not even owning up to it.

You don't have to deal with Karma mains and fanbase, when you keep her weak for two seasons and her players already left to play other game or other champs. ---Just look at voting, every karma player supports what you wrote, but looks like there are 5players that have not forgotten karma--- Why they are doing it't quite obvious since originally she was the ultimate tacitical counter to picks like zed and yasuo, and then they cried at boards and since rito prefers action over tactics. It has gone to point where karma is totally being destroyed by ad mid picks, exactly opposite she was supposed to.

That's what Meddler wants. He wants all of us to leave so he can say the relaunch was successful and they did a good job. That's how thjs Developer works. He twists words and situations that make himself and thr company look like they care. Clearly the past five years is evidence of that not being true.

Wait, what Karma rework? I just picked her up and I'd rather she not change soon!

Well, buckle up, because Karma mains are going to kick up a fuss to get her reworked asap.

I think it's about the latest re-iteration of her W that ended up being scrapped. But it meant that Riot was trying to change something about Karma that, as far as I understand OP, is not helping Karma in any regards and not the amount/style of change it requires to handle the mess of her previous update.

It's. Not. This doesn't gjve her a gameplay identity, improve her art, or make her thematic problems better. It's just another pathetic attempt to say they are working on her but continue to give us half arsed work.

Please do not hold Riot NeuroCat responsible. She wanted to do more but Meddler refuses to budge on anything. Let's just talk about and work on champs like Ryze, Lud, Ezreal and Ahri.

You were told about the rework in your last thread.

I can almost guarantee the rework won't change anything that you like about Karma, so don't worry.

She was given a mini, half assed, "rework" a few years ago. Basically Riot butchered her and left her in the dirt. And continue to ignore the people who are passionate about her.

Meanwhile they give Ryze a shit ton of new reworks and leave her in the dust.

It was a full blown relaunch and the very first VGU. Until Morde Karma was the worst worked on champion in LoL. The past Development team refused to listen, removed almost everything players loved about Karma, and they haven't done anything for 5 years now to rectify mistakes. Meddler and Reaves have a lot of excuses though.

I think he talks about the one where they finally removed the shieldbomb and thus the last link to her former glory and instead made the mantra E give a stronger singletarget shield along the aoe in 5.10

  1. Passive is remaining in place and still feels like a missed opportunity to give Karma an actual direction in this game and to give her a cool theme.

The passive might be tweaked a little, but yeah... I agree, it should've been moved to R so she could have a fitting passive.

  1. Q and Mantra Q is still blocked by minions and the blast explosion is useless.

Only Mantra Q should really be ground targeted, but I agree, it's a huge missed opportunity. The arguments against it have ALL been weak and paid no consideration to what it could offer, both in terms of skill expression and even counterplay. But hey, what can we do?

  1. W and Mantra W is not going to give her a direction and it was even stated that it would open Karma up to jungling more. What does this do for her kit, theme and direction in the game? Nothing. It's just another role she can abuse when she has no place in it.

I think if anything were to make her a better jungler it would be the passive. It's a possibility that she may be able to proc it on large and epic monsters, but that's speculation.

  1. Mantra E is probably going to remain the way it is and shield bomb isn't coming back. This will continue to be the ability that dictates how Karma functions in the game, because you want an Enchanter that mass shields and disengage.

Lol who said that? They know the majority of Karma mains want it back, and they also know the pre 5.10 version of RE was the healthiest. Period. If they don't bring it back it's an "L" and they may as well throw the whole champ away.

  1. You will not address Karma's rushed and sloppy model update and the fact that her new and amazing splash arts do not match in game models. She still doesn't have a shield casting and running animation.

Completely with you on the animations, although she is getting a running animation. It's not the greatest running animation, but it's a massive improvement and I'm grateful for it.

For the shield animation she could at least point in the direction of the target and have a separate animation for the self-cast. Something that can work whilst moving. But we know this isn't gonna happen.

  1. She will still be ignored, have no direction in this game, be in the same state for the next 5 years, and you will not work on any part of her art or theme.

Erm, well... I-... lol

The fans are out of scope, sadly. I don't see how they could implement them without updating her model and giving her a completely new set of animations. They haven't given NeuroCat enough time or resources for that, but who knows; maybe something could happen with Ionian lore which prompts them to update Karma's model? It wouldn't be a stretch to give Karma a single fan with her current design. Super unlikely, but eh... we can dream, I guess.

About 3 games on the original Karma (system specs too low). Had a great time maining new Karma Top/Supp S4.

It was really jarring in the Neurocat thread to see people who viewed Karma solely as a support when she's always been versatile in her roles.
A negotiation between Soraka and Janna intended to deal w/ AoE damage comps sounds cool, but it just ain't Karma.

Whether Karma gets a full revert or gets some of her non-'enchanter' power back into her kit I'm happy. As the way things are going currently, her rework is only slightly less of a failure than Aatrox's

I feel bad for fans of old Karma, but it's been so long that significantly more people like the current Karma than still remember and liked the old Karma, and it's bad business to piss off 20000 people in order to make 2000 happy.

I hope someday they add a champ that fills the niche she filled for people, but I don't think it's reasonable to ask them to say screw you to all the fans of the current design...

I wouldn’t say that people like it, but they are used to it. I never played the old Karma, but this current version is pretty boring to play in addition to being quite weak at the moment. In lane, press q at the enemy. Shield adc from damage. Then after laning phase it’s even more simple. Press R. Press E. If R isn’t up, press E. Maybe press Q to slow someone. How is this enjoyable or interactive in any way?

You're talking to someone who legitimately likes the new Karma. So.. uh... ya. There are definitely people who like her now, and I imagine they're probably are more of them than you realize... just, people who are happy rarely come to the forums unless they're really bored.

I'm not going to try to argue with you because you clearly have your mind made up and it's absolutely 100% pointless to argue 'enjoyable' - it's just too subjective to possibly quantify or try to validate an opinion on.

I will simply tell you that acting like your opinion is the only right one is not healthy.

You're making some pretty wild assumptions here. I never said or assumed that my opinion is the only valid one. It's just my opinion, which is that people who play Karma post-rework (myself included) are just used to her as-is. If you disagree then tell me why you disagree, but don't make wild accusations about me that are 100% not based in reality.

Perhaps they can change her and force the new players to like the update version. Not like they didn't do that to old fans with any regret.

Why act as though they aren't willing to screw over new fans?

Unless the champions are Lee Sin, Yasuo, Zed, Ahri, Katarina, Yi, Riven, Lux, or Vayne, any champions is subject to being throttled by Riot's rework team.
