My point?

There are so many people in these two ranks; it's ridiculous. I feel like the game would be better off if the huge rank inequality was more balanced.

Why? The current system rewards effort by granting an exclusive rank. If you just redistribute ranks, people will start to look at bronze-plat the same way bronze-sliver is. It just moves the goalposts and takes away achievement.

and thats not even mentioning how bad master tier players will be effected suddenly having low diamond-high plats starting to join the ranks

Especially when they refuse to get better and every attempt you do in order to make them improve ends in ad hominems/trolling/ignoring reality.
