Unpopular Opinion: Simple champions are boring!

Boring =/= OP or weak. Just getting that out there.

I see everyone asking Riot to stop making complicated champions. My question is, how can they create a simple champion that’s fun and fresh without copying mechanics from other champs?

Look at some of the “simple” champions that we have now, Annie Malphite Amumu Pantheon Sona

Without their ultimates their kits are boring and easily countered against anyone with half a brain. Nothing would draw me to play that champion unless their numbers were just crazy.

To each their own I guess. I'd sacrify simple gameplay over more difficult macro-play tbh. I'm playing a MOBA, not a FPS or Mortal Kombat, but I guess it's because I've always been playing RTS and RPGs. I don't like complicated and quick gameplay, I'm more into decision-making gameplay.

Though I can understand that maybe the target audience has changed, and people enjoy their champion rather than the decisions they take outside of their kits

Perfectly understandable, but you can see why people like "simple" champions since they tend to have a lot more feedback to them. I for one really enjoy melee right clickers quite a lot, and I appreciate how champions like reworked Taric and Shen have tried to preserve attack speed melee auto attacking whilst giving them gating for balance.
