One of the reasons why
can be tanky and deal so much damage at same time
graves is so dumb like riot why
Forgot
this does not reduce the damage its just delayed and you will still take it
It gives you what you need to out heal it though.
This meta is the absolute fucking worst. Glass cannon should be viable.
Yeah becasue no one ever complained about glass cannon assassins, mages, or adc's.
That... is the build that most battle mages always used?
always used those items, and
too without RoA.
The real problem at the moment is that Azir and Viktor rushing Rylai's put the item into the spotlight, with everyone and their mother calling it OP being the new bandwagon. The item always existed, the real reason why its being built a bit more of champions that didnt before is because of the mobility creep, or because the MYMU made some champions too unreliable without it.
because of mobility creep
Yeah this is why i cant take you seriously LMAO
Except he's right and you're jsut flat out wrong....It gives great ap mp and has an amazing effect? Are you trolling? Are you memer?
This season has really narrowed the diversity pool of different builds in game with one dominant build staying atop all the rest for pretty much the entire season. I wish Riot would take a look back at items in the preseason, I am really sick of seeing how much better the armor pen. adc build is than all the rest. We need more diversity in champion build paths so that players are actually thinking about what they are buying as opposed to just pulling up champion.gg and seeing the highest winrate build that works under all circumstances.
Since when is Yomuu and Dominiks considered tanky items?
i think he meant cleaver and maw which are both rather strong and help you survive most scenarios
i think he meant cleaver and maw which are both rather strong and help you survive most scenarios
and pd
yeh pd is pretty much one of the best items ( and one of my favorites ) in the game atm and i like it's design a LOT. but add maw and cleaver and the adc can facetank burst and flash heal out and then continue manslaughter you. dont get me wrong i dont mind adc but when i jump on it and i do 90% of his health and he flashes out heals and then gets 180 health per hit with 1.6 attack speed then yeh dunno. at least its no the old bt where you would heal 900 health per auto with nocturne and olaf
PD too, gives around 500 extra HP effectively.

Since when is Yomuu and Dominiks considered tanky items?
they are "tank busting" items, becaue of the tanky meta. plus the pd/bc/maw for some self tankyness

Sorry misunderstood what you said, lul
Youmoos is terrible for "Tank busting" it's used to kill squishies early because of the flat armor pen

Since when did an assassin go that build.
Ekko.
Really, Zhonya's is a poor choice for an AP Tank build. Frozen Heart is much better. Also, Rabadons is usually better than Liandry's.

"tanky" not tank. And the OP is right, everyone is building somewhat tanky even if only slightly because damage (with the help of keystones) is unbelievably fucking high right now.

??? It's called a defensive item. Zhonya's is a defensive item, too. The only difference is that the stats Zhonya's Hourglass gives are shit compared to what Frozen Heart gives.
By your logic, if you build Randuin's Omen on Darius, but all of your other items are AD, you're building him as a tank.

No it's bruiser-like more oriented towards damage, or as the OP was saying, "tanky"
No one is saying league of tanks, just league of tankier than normal builds.

Then couldn't you say the same for someone who builds a Frozen Heart on Vel'Koz?
Who the fuck builds Frozen Heart on Vel'koz?
Oh god, please don't tell me people actually do this.
I know a Master tier Syndra main who does this when against 4-5 ad champs. Overlord Forte in case you were wondering.
Syndra makes sense, she requires quite a bit of setup and needs to get in relatively close to most kill ranges of enemy champions. But artillery mages should not have to build pure tank items like Frozen Heart unless they have accepted that their team has no CC or don't know how to peel.
Wouldn't you be better off just buying another AP item with a better effect?
Wouldn't you be better off just buying another AP item with a better effect?
I'm not saying I do it. I'm saying that's the logic. Frozen heart works on anivia though. Late game, it takes forever to crush your egg with the armor bonus from egg passive and FH plus attack speed slow.
I can see Anivia and mages that have shorter ranges like Swain, Ryze, and Malzahar, but Vel'koz? He's an artillery mage and if you need armor to deal with enemies in your face, either get Zhonya's or figure out why enemies are getting in your face to begin with, especially with your team being around.
Who the fuck builds Frozen Heart on Vel'koz?
Someone who isn't a sheep and wants a cost efficient item that helps you to spam abilities while being tanky.
Frozen heart isn't optimal unless you have a high health pool. I think it's better to build items with passives that can help you utilize your range against your opponents, because if they are able to get that close to you anyway you might as well be dead.
People on the boards need to be more consistent in what they say. People say there is too much damage in this game, and now people say there are too many free tank stats.
So which is it?
Tank stats to somehow survive all the dmg in the game.
This.
Too much damage makes people have to build defenses to be able to play the game/react if they are hit by so much as a stray CC.
This is the braindead meta, where the easiest champions are the strongest, and anyone with skillshots or complex mechanics is just a waste of fucking IP/RP. ADCs are gods, tanks with % max health damage are demigods, and targeted damage is king.
... oh wait, that's just F2P.
I would not say that champion like Volibear and Garen are particularly strong atm.
Both are strong if played properly, both can just about one shot you.
According to OP.gg Garen is 98th (out of 132) in winrate in ranked (all Elos) with a 47.91% winrate. Voli does a bit better at 89th, with a winrate of 48.30%
However, in diamond only, Volibear is 82nd, with a winrate of 49.51% which is better for him, but still in the bottom half of champions. Things look much worse for Garen, as he's the second lowest winrate champion in the entire game with a sub 40% winrate (38.78%)
I'll grant that Voli can situationally be okay, if a bit sub-par. Garen however is only good if the people you play against are garbage, and could really use some love.
Oh, and one more thing, neither champion can one shot you. Even if you're the villain, you need to already be at roughly 1/3 hp for Garen's ult to kill you. That is, in no form, a one shot.
Likewise, the only way Voli can conceivably be a burst threat is if he uses his w on you. . . which is also an execute which already tells you its not gonna one shot anything. Additionally, he needs to auto attack 3 times in a row in quick succession before he can activate it (so at best a 4-shot) but even then, if he uses it at its strongest (which would mean you're at 1% hp, meaning its massive overkill at this point) its only 517 + 29.85% of his bonus health in physical damage, and a volibear will not have any armor penetration or reduction. That wont even half health most champions-- neglecting the fact that it would do far less damage if they weren't basically dead to begin with.
