Aatrox is just gonna be built straight tank like malphite

Hibeki··2 votes·1,548 views

You gave him everything a tank wants.

Healing, auto enhancements, max health damage, great CC and disruption with minor mobility and a pressing threat.

MAYBE he will will build one damage item. But because of the stupid fucking kit you gave him hes not gonna be built bruiser like you want him to

Which is why he is most likely gonna have trash base stats and good AD ratios

Hibeki1 votes

That wont stop him. If thats what you have to do to stop him from being built tank its horrible esign.

I disagree, Steps should be taken to prevent abuse from building out of class. Theres a reason abilitys stopped being AP exclusive like they used to in early seasons. Sion, Trist, WW, Yii, All had AP abuse. Now we have scaling for the intended role. Pykes Passive, Bad base with good scaling, things like this are good design for game health. Items can be stronger for their intended roles with out completely breaking the game by abuse cases.

Hibeki1 votes

Sion is entirely Bonus AD and AP yet is still built almost solely tank.

AlienPrimate1 votes

He is referring to this by mentioning Sion. He used to be played one of 2 ways. As a hyper scaling top laner similar to Nasus who is garbage early game and impossible to deal with late game (his intended role) or an early game bully who built straight AP with boots of mobility to roam and gank side lanes (his actual role).

^ the prerework sion was my reference yes. And in the rare time AP sion did not win the game for his team early or mid game then that fucker could just sell his shit to become a hyper scaled nightmare. Admittedly I think I only saw this twice.

Also @ hibeki, Sion has HP scaling on his passive as well as his W. More up time during passive with higher HP, Better shield and bit more damage on his W off HP as well as AP.

The point remains that abilitys on the whole are more tied into your build to allow for riot to make strong items per class, you can cross classes on some champions, it usually has a trade off. For Aatrox that trade off should be the damage needed to sustain himself off his kit and to put out much weaker damage from his abilitys, his base Ratios should be weaker and his scaling being how his kit hits.

Jarring1 votes

that's what they did for ekko except it was AP .. and his design is awesome imho.

Hibeki1 votes

And then they had to nerf two fucking items that he used, an entire keystone, nerf all of his base numbers and insanely overbuff his cooldowns and ap ratios, just to stop it.

Its bad design

Jarring1 votes

what items did they nerf for him? also the nerf to grasp of the undying wasn't intended for ekko. Pretty sure that was well after tank ekko was dealt with. They got rid of it by reducing the base dmg of all of his abilities and most importantly his passive while giving them higher AP scaling, so that people would benefit more from playing him AP and less from tank. They also removed the slow from his passive making him much less sticky as well as extending the time it can be placed on enemies, which was the final nail in the coffin. No items or rune changes were changed based off of ekko. It wasn't a design flaw, it was the misappropriation of his skill set by players.

Hibeki1 votes

They nerfed both sunfire cape and iceborn gauntlet. Because basically solely ekko top brought about new top bullshit where you basically had to go them

Jarring1 votes

They didn't nerf them because of ekko... They just happened to go well with him. They didn't have to go either, either. They could easily go triforce instead if they wanted and completely ignore sunfire cape altogether. I almost always went iceborn gauntlet myself, but i oftentimes wouldn't get sunfire cape if i was facing AP top so i could finish spirit visage earlier. sunfire was literally just rushed first to make clearing easier...just like every other champion that rushes it. It wasn't any different for ekko. Iceborn gauntlet was used in the exact same manner as well, to make him more sticky/tanky. That was really the only item that was abused with him, especially when his passive still slowed and had no c/d timer. but the nerf did nothing for ekko...because it wasn't for him. just b/c he used these 2 items that happened to be nerfed doesn't mean they were for him.

Jarring1 votes

i think you're onto something. gonna be the same problem they had with ekko ...but i liked the old tank ekko :( was my favorite

Malix Farwin1 votes

Cant say that for sure without knowing his new kit.

He got a gameplay spotlight or w/e it's called

BeatzBoyFTW2 votes

Scaling matters too.

ZackTheWaffleMan1 votes

That's true.

Pika Fox1 votes

And? I mean, malphite is probably the best, if not one of the best users of triforce in the game when he builds it. I dont see aatrox being a disruption tank to be a bad thing, he'll deal no damage as he will likely have AD scalings.

Hibeki1 votes

Malphite literally does not build triforce. Ever.

Malphite literally does not build triforce. Ever.

Has one of the highest base AD and AS in the game with high growth on both, low ability CD to pop it, strong dueling potential....

People not meta playing him bruiser and focusing too much on R doesnt mean its not a great item on him.

Hibeki1 votes

No its still a bad item. Iceborne is 100% better on him, hes given the kit of a tank and he is most effective as such.

Literally the only part of his kit that is a tank's kit is his R. QWE and even his passive are all bruiser abilities.

?????

W gives bonus armor, and auto attacks that scale off of armor

E gives damage based off of armor, and slows attack speed in an area. Area disruption is a tank ability not a bruiser ability.

Passive gives extra health and triples the bonus armor

How the fuck is this not a tank kit

AS slow isnt disruption and is a bruiser/fighter trait.

W gives an on hit AoE AD steroid.

Q is a gap closer, and since it has a weak slow with a movespeed bonus to malph its better to keep him ontop of the target instead of keeping him locked down for his team

Passive gives a shield that requires out of combat to restore, emphasizing short trades instead of long engages. Tank defensive stats emphasize longer engages where as fighter/bruiser kits emphasize shorter trades/combat defensive stats.

His kit was literally designed to be a bruiser/fighter kit. Its just that his kit is so old and people emphasize his ult that hes ever played "tank" (he cant fill the role of a tank, he lacks disruption outside of R)

Hibeki1 votes

The AOE part of W was implemented solely to give him better waveclear, and was stated as such.

Attack speed slows are in fact disruption and no, it is not bruiser. Literally only one source of attack speed reduction is available to a bruiser (fiora riposte, which shouldnt even be on there anyway) and is entirely exclusive to either full tanks, Nunu who is basically forced to build full tank, or tank items.

Q is mainly a source of harass and to keep the enemy in range of more auto attacks. This is a definitive trait of almost all tanks top, incredibly high base attack speed, some sort of damage steroid, and a way to keep that train going. If it was meant to be a gap closer, it would not give him movement speed and would solely be a strong slow.

Passive used to be that way, but now that it triples his W's armor, thats only part of its purpose now.

Also I love how you dont even attempt to refute anything that doesn't directly support you

Fiora, Nasus and Nunu all have attack speed slows. None are tanks. Two are bruiser/fighter types. Nunu is most like a fighter/bruiser for the most part, hes too old and has no clear decision on what he should be.

W is an on hit damage boost and applies AoE. The on hit boost combined with his high base/per level AD and AS means he can win melee auto trades very easily, especially combined with his armor scaling, meaning he can build trinity + gauntlet and build tank after, just like BRUISERS.

His Q keeps him in range of his target. Its not strong enough to be an effective single target disruption, meaning its more of a bruiser esque ability than a tank.

Literally only his R is his only tank ability. Everything else is more of a bruiser trait providing no real disruption or control. Only his R provides any form of CC strong enough to be considered a tank. Tanks arent things that just build resists/defensive items. Tanks provide CC to control the battlefield and support their team. Malphite's R is all that really does that.

If you think Nasus is a bruiser fighter then you dont have any basis to make these points on lol

Do you know that there was a certain point where Malph was nerfed to specifically stop him from building Triforce + AD?

You obviously haven’t smelled what Mal “the Rock” Phiatimus is cooking. Or was cooking.

Do you know that literally only one person builds triforce on malphite on championgg and has a terrible KD?

Riven Q with knockups on ALL three attacks LARGE Viktors W Graves E twice Animation Swains Ult tryn Ult without being able to attack but heals

Riot has no creativity anymore.

UnboundHades1 votes

the only thing similiar between the q is they are both on q and have 3 uses the w isnt even close to vik and if you somehow think that i dont know what to say to you the e works differently in both kits so once again not the same besides its on e and a dash and his ult is basically his old ult mixed with his passive.

if you want to shitpost go do it somewhere else

5050BS1 votes

Toxic much?

Everything I said is fact.

Q has three uses and knockup on each use (very much like Riven) W is a larger version of Viktors bubble. It slows you and pulls you to the middle if you stay (also does damage) It has range and size the same as Irelias Ult and activates the same. E Is just like Graves dash but gives you AD instead of AS and you can do it twice (has charges that refresh) R looks like Swains Ult gives AD, fears minions and makes you regen large amounts of HP if you are killed. Its Tryn Ult with a twist.

There is very little creativity in this rework. Its other champs powers reworked.

UnboundHades1 votes

aatrox has a knockup on every single use and changes after every1 along with locking him in place without his e thus its not for mobility like riven q his w isnt close at all to viks w because vik can use his to zone areas and isnt limited to 1 person while aatrox needs to land a skillshot on somebody for it to pop up so it cant zone off a path and it only works on 1 person along with no stun like i said with the e they may seem similar but their uses in each champs kit vary completely and his r is not swains because it looks similar or trynds because he revives its a mix between his previous ult and his passive along with new features

Warlord Rhinark1 votes

This is what I think the typical build on new Aatrox will look like:

item 3748 item 3071 item 3812 item 3065 item 3026 item 3047 / item 3111

Jarring1 votes

idk about that. i feel like he'd want to build a triforce first so he won't be completely useless vs other toplaners with better all-in potential such as irelia, camille, renekton, etc. I feel like anything that could quickly get in his face and deal high amounts of quick consecutive dmg are going to pose a big threat to him.. oh and fiora? wow. won't even be fair. The only way to balance this will be to build full tank, and try to outlast them as he runs away loll. warmog's should be great by the end of it. Honestly i don't see this champion working at all anyways. so whatever.

I didn't include Trinity for two reasons:

A. He doesn't use mana (as far as I know atleast)

B. The Rage passive doesn't stack with the Rage passive on Black Cleaver.

Damage in the game is way too high IMO

Jarring1 votes

ahh yeah i forget sometiems that triforce has a mana boost on it. though it is pretty irrelevant in comparison to its use. and Black Cleaver will probably be the better option with that in mind. i just feel like he's going to ultimately need a lot of help vs other bruisers that will easily be able to access his face before he ever lands a knock-up. i was just thinking another triforce might somehow compete with another triforce user in that situation considering the amount of buttons he has at his disposal to proc sheen. black cleaver alone i feel will not be nearly enough to compete with a triforce camille/irelia/jax/etc.
