You guys all know what this means, don't you?...

Morello is bringing a comeback tour for Irelia nerfs. But don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years.*

*Morello's nerf tour will not be visiting mages. Extra stops at tank items have been added to tour destinations. Fighter rework is tots still happening trust us.

Irelia is insanely overpowered right now and needs nerfs

ProfDrDeath15 votes

Insanely overpowered? Not really. Slightly on the strong side? Yes, definitely.

I feel like a good change to diminish her power, for now, would be to change Equilibrium Strike from magical to physical damage.

Why would that nerf her now, more than before? Because nowadays, Irelia's most commonly maxed ability is E, due to Flask covering you on the sustain side of things. This gives her a strong magic damage nuke for laning (high base damage), coupled with access to long duration CC. But, even as she maxes her magic damage, you can not afford to build MR against her, as she builds for physical damage at the same time (Sheen, Phage into Triforce). By turning E into physical damage, it is possible to itemize against her in a better way.

If this change hits Irelia too hard, they could think about swapping its AP ratio for an AD one, possibly affecting Irelia's build options to favor a little more AD in the path. They could even use a total AD ratio, with nerfing the base damage, so E's nuke potential scales throughout the game, too.

Oh yeah?? Well I looked in ur match history and you played two Irelia games! You clearly main her, therefore you no longer get to have an opinion! get rekt kiddo

Edit: Are we upset because my sarcasm was too vague, or I'm trying too hard to be funny?

Someone had too much NaCl this morning.

A Slime Appears2 votes

Someone lacks a sarcasm detector. Seemed pretty obvious to me at least...

IcyPepper5 votes

Have you seen some people? It's hard to tell sarcasm from... well, you know.

So I went with a chemistry joke. If he was actually salty, then it wouldn't be that rude (because puns). If he was sarcastic, then I was just going along with the joke. Win-win.

Stacona2 votes

she is immune to CC while having insane long cc durations herself while being full tank with insane damage and mobility--- her E being magic damage is fine, the duration need to go down --- also long standing issue for years, the tool tip states the duration is 1 to 2 seconds based on rank while the actual duration is 1.5 to 2.5 seconds (do not know which figure is suppose to be correct, whether tooltip or actual, but it needs to get fixed either way)

Whats stupid is an ADC getting a 2 second knockup.

doublelift fg16 votes

you don't mind irelia having 70% tenacity and reduce every cc without an exception :^)

Duke Anax1 votes

He says something about using knockup>stun.

I think they take the suggestion of reducing the stun part, by a % of the total ability duration.

So like if you have 2s knockup and 1s stun, 15% tenacity will remove 0,66s from the stun.

That would make the most sense and also be the easiest to implement animation wise.

I think when he's referring to knockup>stun, he's referring to that past argument that a rioter (that may or may not have been morello) about clarity:

Knockups are way more readable in terms of duration than stuns are. stuns have that duration bar, but in a messy fight, that bar becomes very difficult to pay attention to.

In a teamfight, if you see your ADC stunned, it looks like they might be afk, if you see your ADC getting knocked up, you can quite clearly tell that they're in danger and need peeling.

LoLKiru2 votes

Gonna be honest, this is gonna be really wonky animation wise I feel (if we assume that tenacity will now actually shorten the duration your in the air for)

Thats not to say I don't agree that Kalista having a 2 second knockup is stupid (no, thats absolutely retarded); very few ADC's have hard CC, even on their ults, and those that do have it pay in spades what Kalista does.

I'm not sure if making tenacity affect knockups is the right way to go though, rather than just tuning the problematic knockups.

Thryale2 votes

they might be developing tech to allow height modification. ala janna tornado. So that when you have tenacity reducing the knockup, it'll cause you to not get knocked up so high and thereby ending sooner.

Serenity Now1 votes

This. Animations will look fine, and it only took 5 years.

They may be able to do the same with knock-backs, where the distance is reduced by Tenacity.

That leaves pulls as the only CC to which Tenacity doesn't apply, and I don't see how they could even if they wanted to.

Thryale3 votes

I feel that move blocks (such as knockbacks and pulls) should not be affected by tenacity as they are carefully balanced under the assumption that they will always do the exact same thing every time.

Imagine a vayne in perfect position to knock a target into a wall to only have them stop moving half way and wreck her face. Or a blitz hook bringing them only 2/3s of the way to him and having him sitting dead in the water when he can't land his knockup.

manbearswine3 votes

I'm so sick of this idiotic kalista QQ,a 2 second knockup makes perfect sense on an immobile utility adc with no steroids.

Enough calling every part of her kit insanely stupid, yes her objective control is somewhat silly, yes her knockup doesn't fit on her even thematically(I mean let's face it,a stun would be more thematically fitting, but then she wouldn't have yasuo synergy),but what's really fucking retarded about her kit is that idiotic passive(I bet everyone is shocked at that statement),and just because one part of her kit is stupid beyong belief to the point I'd say she should've never been created, doesn't make every single ability she has as stupid as that passive.

Slushi Simcambi20 votes

Kalista. Immobile.

I Stopped reading.

Nameless Voice3 votes

And completely missed the meaning of manbearswine's post - which was that the rest of Kalista's kit would be okay if she didn't have that passive.

Not sure why "I stopped reading and missed the entire point of the post" gets upvoted?

WarlockLaw7 votes

Because you called the most mobile adc immobile, why should we keep reading

manbearswine8 votes

I never said she was immobile,I said that a 2 second knockup makes perfect sense on an immobile(/not kalista) adc with no steroids(again not kalista,e is a steroid),in contrast to what hashinshin said about how adcs shouldn't have a 2 second knockup.

But you idiots were so busy being smartasses you ended up looking like...well...idiots. Hell, you can't even notice that guy isn't even me,but sure, blame me for your illiteracy.

The indirect nerf to Yasuo

Direwolfiez6 votes

It's an indirect nerf to just about every new champ, since most of them have knockups. Singling out Yasuo makes you look biased.

A Slime Appears2 votes

True, but it hurts Yasuo the most because he depends on those knockups to get an ult off against competent players.

If knockups are more clear and satisfying then why do stuns exist in the first place.

Samflash32 votes

So that Yasuo doesn't ult off of Lissandra's ult.

DubaZuba2 votes

Isn't the point of a knock-up to be cc that isn't affected by tenacity? What's the difference between it and a stun now besides Yasuo ?

Champion Skin1 votes

Well knock ups are still better... because well Yasuo... and they can't be countered by summoner 1 or item 3140 or item 3222 (Or maybe they will fix that as well...??) It is kind of silly that suppression which is exclusive to ults is currently weaker than knock ups...

VDc0zCqe0w1 votes

this is COMPLETELY retarded, it will totally break champs like Janna or Zyra (wich you pick mostly for the AOE knockup, wich was ALREADY HARD NERFED)

time to quit if this happens

First everyone complains that there are too many knockups and that they have no counterplay.

Riot provides some counterplay.

Now people are talking about all the champs that will be ruined if this change goes through.

aperson11 votes

Some champs have long knockups stupidly tacked on to their kits that ought to be reduced by tenacity (e.g. Kalista)

Some champs have long knockups that are integral parts of their kits that now are meaningless against anyone with merc treads (e.g. Janna, Malphite, Alistar)

The latter camp is hurt a lot more than the former, because they don't have a bunch of other stupid tacked-on crap they can rely on.

Also fun fact: Kalista's ult knockup duration is equal to Malphite's at 6, and strictly better past 11.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

You talk like Tenacity made you immune to CC. There are champions that rely on stuns and they aren't "non viable" because of Tenacity. See Leona.

Champion Skin1 votes

I hardly think that Zyra will be the one that is the one that will be hardest hit by this... As you don't pick Zyra only for her ult... you also pick her because she has pretty good damage (for a support anyways) and she has decent peel with her snare + slowing plants + ult (which will be nerfed by this yes... but it might be buffed then it will be better against ADC and APC who generally don't build tenacity but possibly worse against bruisers/tanks)

no it won't be buffed, don't worry

Zyra has never been buffed and Rito doesn't care a shit about the fact that they overnerfed her with the 3.13 patch and now she's useless as hell since more than 1 year

i'm a Zyra-Janna main btw, she's completely useless, i still manage to have a pretty nice winrate but she just sucks, every pro player says that you just have to search, and they kept on nerfing her by reducing her mana regen in preseason

also they got a pretty huge bias towards tank supports since they are never nerfed (Leona nerf, lmao, what was that? -5 armor on W, shit that's huge son, kappa) and they are always in meta, while they shit on poke supports and they just don't give a damn about that (Sona, Zyra, even Lulu is not a poke support anymore after the nerfs, even if she's still quite good)

Champion Skin1 votes

Wasn't that "nerf" to Leona when they made her W scale with armor/mr? Yeah.. Zyra can just get so destroyed by Leona so hard... since Zyra is so squishy and vulnerable and have no mobility... And Leona doesn't care if she is snared/rooted if she is already on your face

Well Leona is just in general rather strong... though if she for some reason should fall behind... she is just so screwed... since all Leona has to offer is all in... and when you are behind going all in.. doesn't work..

And yes.. most of the tank supports are rather easy and straight forward and the fact that they are tanky often make them more forgiving should they be hit by something bad... And they can handle pretty much most lanes most of the time and of course are really good against other lanes... like Leona against squishy poke supports (as long as Leona and her ADC isn't poked down before they go all in)

And if riot really love tank supports so much then hey maybe Alistar will get a buff on his Q
