Jungling Lee Sin without a complete jungle item?

I recently unlocked Lee Sin and have been playing him as much as possible so I can become better with him. I noticed I was having issues in the jungle where the monsters were really eating me alive. I could avoid execution most of the time, at least. So, I always start with machete, pots, and a ward when jungling. I usually rush to finish the jungler item; however, with Lee Sin, I found that the jungle item did not help my damage against monsters and made me a bit useless to my teammates for ganking. I started a game where I began with machete and never finished it. I simply jumped to other items and was much more successful.

Does anyone else do this with Lee Sin? Or perhaps other jungler champions?

Bad idea. You're passing up hundreds if not thousands of gold from conservation, plus objective control from butcher. You're not doing your team any favors by ensuring that you're hundreds of gold down from the enemy jungler and adding an extra couple of seconds to every dragon and baron you want to take.

As an aside, I checked your lolking, and you should really get some runes. Jungling without them is basically asking to die to your second buff.

Like I said, I stopped finishing the jungle items because I didn't feel like they were making any difference. When I play Lee Sin jungle, I take so much damage, so I find I'm rushing lifesteal items instead... This also lets me gank more. I personally find ganking way more important than farming in the jungle. But, you are definitely correct that I end up being far behind in level and gold compared to the enemy team.

You are also right that I need more runes. I joined League about five months ago, so I've been unlocking champions with my points instead.

This is because you don't have any runes. Seriously, that shit is ridiculously important, especially in the jungle - if you're being forced to use suboptimal builds (BT and Hydra are awful on non-Top Lane Lee Sin), you're going to be way less effective than if you were able to build more standard.

Quote. Also remember to prefer flat runes instead the scaling ones for jungling, since you need more early power instead scaling one. Get first the armor runes ( or maybe better half armor and half health? ) then go for ad and then maybe scaling magic resist ( this one scaling because you will be affected by magic damage mostly on late game); these are the basics, don' t know if Lee has some preferences.

About itemization i agree you need to finish the jungling item first, Lee is really powerful without items aniway compared to other champs since he has double activation skills and a high steroid at AS. Remember you can "dash" on yourself in order to reactivate and get the shield plus lifesteal and spellvamp.

I would recommend finishing your jungle item as soon as possible on any jungler. Ever since the spirit items received the buff of giving bonus gold through conservation they have become pretty important towards a junglers gold income.

I feel the best way to play Lee is to abuse your early game advantage as often as possible before you fall off due to poor scaling. Lee Sin is a power house early game and not many champions can handle him 1v1. Just apply as much pressure as possible and with some good set ups you can snowball yourself and other lanes.

A lot of people have been telling me that Lee Sin has a huge advantage early game. I don't doubt it.... However, I noticed that when I jungle him (which is my preferred way to play him), I take so much damage from the monsters and don't really clear that fast... This is why I've been rushing lifesteal items instead.
