Is unit collision intentionally supposed to get you killed?

In the many years that I've played this game, unit collision has always been a problem. My first year or two of playing, unit collision was the occasional "oh shit" moment that screwed you over, and was mostly forgettable. However, in the recent years, I've seen it only get worse, as in, almost every single game this is a noticeable issue.

When I say "unit collision", I am referring to a moment where you tell your champion to go somewhere, they turn to that direction and weeble wobble between some minions, in a display of "should I go this way or that way hmmm", essentially leaving them spinning in place. Needless to say, most of the time, my enemies are smart enough to pounce on me in this "fish in a barrel" moment.

Is unit collision intentionally designed to get you stuck on minions? Or this a bug that is less important than releasing new skins? I understand we cannot have champions walking through minions or other champions. They need to go around them. However, it's pretty ridiculous to have your champion pacing back and forth between a couple of minions because they can't decide if it's better to go left or right.

Also why is Fizz of all champions allowed to ignore unit collision?

i miss so much cs as a melee champ due to unit collision and pathing. And some times it does kill me. At least my own minions should be helping me and not the enemy

I dont know how its supposed to be or if it has gotten worse or not, but it sounds like something you have to stay aware of and play around. Just think of it as an obstacle and dont make moves that are gonna put you in that situation. Dont click far away and rely on autopathing, click around them.

The problem is they haven't figured out how to put a code stating "if champion walks left, then minion walks right." and vice versa.

Riot has already said why. Go read it.

I picked up poppy recently and dear god the unit collision with her small model top lane is insane. She's melee and small and she just gets stuck over and over on minions item 3070

The skins team and the team that handles this kind of stuff are likely entirely separate. I don't understand how that fact hasn't been made transparent yet.

Also, fixing something like this isn't as easy as it sounds. Riot tried implementing a fix quite recently, and they recognized that it made the problem worse and reverted it.

People really underestimate it. A big reason Evelynn top is strong is because her W lets her ignore unit collision, which gives her a huge advantage over other melee tops when it comes to engaging and disengaging.

I hate when I get body blocked by that random minion you're walking next to on your way back to lane.

I play a lot of big tanky champs (sejuani, shyvana, malphite, nautilus, etc) but by far the person that I cannot play anymore because of unit collision problems is Vi. For some reason she is always taking dumb routes around minions and getting me killed.

Riot developers have no idea what they're doing

Best unit collision is the poro getting you killed in Aram.

Which you can't kill.

I tried to make a post discussing this and looking for solutions, but it was dead on arrival.

If anybody wants to jump into that discussion here it is:

I like how SMITE did unit collision. You collide with enemy minions, champions, camps, towers and allied champions. But allied minions or pets DO NOT block your movement. However they do block certain spells and basic attacks.

i think riot wants items and effects that "ignore unit collision" to feel more impactful

Well it makes sense that Unit collision has the potential to be extremely dangerous. It makes Phantom Dancers Passive and Champion passives like it(I.E Janna's W passive) That much more valuable.
