What am I supposed to do against Nocturne Jungle?

Not QQ, just a serious question...

I just had a game as Gnar top against Udyr in lane. Was poking him relentlessly, developing a CS lead, forcing him to use turtle form to lifesteal. Big lead the whole time. Get my first kill on him at 5.

Then once Nocturne hits 6, literally every time his ult comes up he ults me and I die. I have deep wards but they don't matter when he just runs up the lane. Am I supposed to just stop laning altogether and give Udyr my turret for free? Like, the rest of my team is losing, I'm the only pressure we have on the map at all...

So in general, if you're against a Nocturne jungle and your allies aren't winning, what do you do? How do you carry that when you know every time you try to make a play in your lane you'll get ulted?

Save your jump as gnar for when Nocturne uses his ultimate because if he can't fear you by keeping you in tether range he won't be able to secure the kill.

What often happened was: I'd have Udyr pushed under his tower (I couldn't help it, he wouldn't touch the wave and I'm obviously going to last hit, and when I harass him his minions target me so it pushes anyways) Nocturne would ult I'd lose vision of Udyr, so I can't land my Q on him to slow him He'd run at my in bear form as I tried to run away Nocturne would ult on me I'd try to hop off of Nocturne Udyr would stun me mid-hop I was dead.

There were 2 times Udyr wasn't there to stun me, both times Nocturne flashed past me as I went to hop.

There is no specific danger when playing against Nocturne jungle. He's just like any other jungle.

Blind jumps on Gnar will beat Nocturne... but sounds like this Noc was dialed in as he knew to save for you... Sometimes getting beat is just getting beat.

this is where the term "wave control" comes into play. You arent playing the match up right if you have minions frozen under your tower and they try to dive you and can still get away with it. Also you dont make plays to win thats your big problem. You wait it out for mistakes that they make. Unless this is challenger they will be making hundreds of come back mistakes that you being smart and playing with your team can turn it around.

  1. try to frez the wave close to your turret if you know your getting camped
  2. if all other lanes are loosing and your junglewr doesn't counterganl top, that means you are winning, but 4 are loosing. You are not supposed to win a 5vs5 game if 4 of your members perform worse than ther opponents. As strange as it sounds, bout your not supposed to be able to carry games all on your own.
  3. how does a noc ult translate into a straight kill vs gnar? I mean his only cc is bound to a leash that can be broken by your hop... if he ults and your close to your tower, try to get in towerrange befor he arives. If not, wait with your E till he arives and youse it after he uses E, if possible on a minion for extra range. If needed add a flash. Get frozen mallet and boots of swiftness, one aa+hop and you should be easily able to brake the fear-leash It also helps alot at kiteing udyr without useing E, so you can be sure to have it up opon getting ganked.

Yea I understand I'll lose those games.

I'd just rather lose them with the score I deserve in lane, say 3/1/2, rather than a score that looks like I was feeding just as much as the rest of them, say 3/6/5.

i.e. I want to play it well. So when I get a team that's not quite as far behind and can come back, I'm not making misplays that stop us from coming back.

The items idea is a good one. Should probably have gone swiftness instead of merc treads.

For point 3 see the comment above. It was the Udyr stun since he managed to get in range when I had no vision to land my Q with to slow him.

i haven't faced noc in a time, the limited vision might indeed be ugly vs udyr. Try to keep udyrs rlative position and the minons in mind, and throw your Q blind into what would be his most direct path to you. Even if the initaial Q misses, chances are high it hits on the return if you keep moveing away from udyr. If you ad no vision on udyr to begin with, you were in a bad potions or wardesd the wrong brushes. Deep vision only helps vs noc if your jungler uses it to react for an countergank or making plays on the other side of the map. If you can't rely on that, rather ward your lane brushes so udyr can't use them, as warding vs noc and his ult is rather pointless.

That's a good point, all of my River and/or Blue buff wards are pretty useless against a Noc. May as well save them for when Udyr tries to run in to a bush to escape me.
