All the champions that you guys complain about all have a below 50% win rate

Guy Fox Teemo··6 votes·717 views

Lee Sin : 45% Nidalee : 46% Kalista : 48% Zed : 47%

I know win rates aren't everything but if a champion is so OP, why is it that they lose more then they win consistently? Each one of them is played well over 500,000 times each month. You'd think if they are so OP, wouldn't they be winning more then losing? And by a significant amount? Heimerdinger has a 54% win-rate, and don't say he isn't played a lot because he has well over 200,000 games played each month. Thats more then enough games to know that he wins consistently by playing Heimerdinger.

So screw all your QQ threads about Zed, Lee, Nidalee, Kalista, being OP. They aren't really OP just for many people they seem annoying to play against and jump right on to the conclusion that they are OP.

It's not the winrate, they're just not fun to play against.

It's boring. Repetitive. Lame.

The champions people complain about are flashy. Maybe they do bad most of the time, but when they do well it tends to be noticeable. It's harder to notice when your team just rolls over nidalee's in a hard engage while she sits back and hits the tank with a single spear...it's easier to notice when you walk into her spear in the jungle and get 100-0'd. It's just observation bias.

Idk why people still complain about lee. He is borderline trash right now.

I don't care if they have a 35% winrate. They aren't fun to play against. Period. You think I like seeing Lee or Zed get away with a kill after whiffing half their kits? Or how about successfully landing 100% of my moves on Kalista only to have her troll away, completely immune to my entire team?

Or losing a teamfight because an invisible Nid spear chunking someone?

Thats because those champs are all overpowered a bit, so a bunch of people who arent any good at the game in general play them often hoping for freelo.

(cept kalista. she is meh)

I do for the most part agree, but take into account that the more a champion is played, the more people learn how to counter it. Some people just don't think about killing Heimer's turrets and die to them while they focus Heimer (who Zhonya's anyway) because they haven't played against him in 6 months.

i damn hate kalista played as ahri vs one recently, i throw charm, she damn hops and i miss, she shoots me, i throw ball, guess what? she again hops and i miss the ball, she shoots me again, eats foxfires which is not enough, i try to jump away, she hops the third time and kills me bunnygirl kalista where

Agreed with the others...they're not fun to play against. It's completely binary. You either pick hard counters and/or build & play a certain way or you lose. There's no diversity or middle ground.

If 10,000 good players played a champ and won, that champ would have 100% win rate. Now 90,000 lesser players try to get a free win but they lose, now that "OP" champ has a win rate of 10%. That's why win rate doesn't matter.

Anyway, a champ could be OP and still lose due to many things such as mistakes, teamwork, etc. There are champs that are very strong or very annoying/hard to play against, but they can still lose due to getting picks and what not.

See now this is over 500,000 games even if a person sucked or was good at a champion thats MORE then enough to accurately see if they are consistently winning or not.

Noobs see that they are OP but suck and fail with them and lose the game.

because win rates are mostly representative of bronze and silver.

you can check winrates for any skill rank also, imo each person should care of the winrates of their skill range and most of people are bronze/silver/unranked

The only win rate that should matter is challenger and LCS, because they bring out the full potential in each champ and determine whether they are OP or not. Lets say there was a champ with a skill cap so high that only 1 person in the entire world can play that champ at full potential, with anyone playing below that potential guarenteed to lose, but at full potential, that champ is guaranteed to win regardless of what the other team does.

Is this champ not OP due to having less than a 1% win rate? Or is this champ OP for being a free win whenever he is picked by that 1 guy?

that champ would be a bad design, champs should be somehow viable for any level of play

also you are not challenger or pro, their winrates are irrelevant for your games

I don't want the game to be balanced around my elo, otherwise champs like Annie, Morgana and Sejuani get gutted while Zed, Lee and Kalista get buffed. My elo's trash. Just as you won't balance the game around Bronze because that means Master Yi, Fiora and Tryndamere need to be nerfed.

500,00 is the average for most champions, only 2 out of those 4 are high pick rates. The highest picked champion which is Graves, has 1,600,000 games played each month, and he has a 52% win rate.

LoRdJeSuS69694201 votes

Pick and ban rates don't correlate with op'ness at all. They correlates with what people think is op--which is often wrong--and with comfort picks. Win rate is really the only way for non-riot people to judge the strength of a champion, with just a few other considerations (whether a champion is free week, the current meta, etc.).

Not op, most of them are just annoying to deal with.

Lysdexic11 votes

I hate how annoyingly slippery they are. They all have high damage but when you try to focus them they just hop away and laugh at you.

Winrate means jack shit is a terrible way to view the game, it does not show whether something is toxic and overpowered - the reverse also happens where balanced champions have high win rates
