Why SOLO Q was actually removed

We know RIOT will NEVER bring SOLO Q back, but have you thought about why they removed their most popular game mode?

Everyone enjoyed solo Q, but they removed it because it caused friction between random teammates. THis is part of Lyte's plan to make all players friendly. And if you're in a full 5, theres no toxicity between the teammates. Therefore they're trying to get everyone to queue as 5s and minimize solo players in order to remove toxicity.

Thanks.

It's not a bad plan to reduce toxicity. Much of the toxicity you experience tends to come from your own team rather than the enemy team. If you know each other well enough to queue together then odds are you won't be as toxic to each other.

Sure it is harder to climb now, but it is also more rewarding if you do manage to climb on your own. I rarely duo queue or queue with anyone else and I still find it possible to make a reasonable amount of "climbing". This also shifts the focus of this game from "Me me me" to "team team team". This is a team game. Solo Q is nice, but it fosters a certain kind of thinking; the kind that suggests your wins were due 90% or more in part to your individual capability and not to your team which is simply not true.

It's hard to climb for the wrong reasons now.

What do you mean by wrong reasons?

It is easier to climb, if you go premade you can get boosted way above what you deserve. It is hard for solo players some of whom can't even get near to the place they reached last season.

I guess if climbing means that much for people.

DQ has basically turned ranked into normals where you get a border at the end of the season. So what is the point? On top of that it is forcing a large segment of the population(solo players) to play the game in a way that is not fun to them and unfair (as premades have a higher % chance to win) <-- even Riot agreed that was the case.

So the only thing you gain from DQ is now you can play with your friends. Well you could have played with your friends in normals. Why was it necessary to screw up ranked?

Ranked has a stronger sense of competition. I like doing competitive play with friends without having to make a ranked 5s team. The fact that premades have a higher chance of winning is more common sense than it is a statistic.

I don't see a problem either way. Whether it is solo or Dynamic is irrelevant to me. I am only responding to these kinds of posts to try to understand both sides. I like seeing the logic in things.

Thats what norms are for - fun Who cares if ranked "serious" players are bitter with each other

  • People get upset/rage because they honestly care

Umio exactly! Just mute them if they annoy you that much..... is toxicity such a huge issue ?
