ExHentai14 votesWe actually tested an AP version of the item as well (literally had an item named AD GA in the shop for testing at the same time as AP GA) because my gut told me that was fair as well. However, after a few weeks of testing, people almost always preferred to just have Zhonya's, and fighting against champions that had both AP GA and Zhonya's wasn't particularly fun (and it was very possible), and so I came to the conclusion it's not something that AP champions need, despite how appealing it sounds.
tl;dr unfun and unneeded.

a spellshield with an EIGHT second cooldown at level 18. good luck getting picks on people late game as someone like lux with new banshees, edge of night, etc.

Ya it would be very frustrating.

ADC raw DPS with those 3 items arguably makes them tankier than mages in general. so a mage gets 50 armor and like 65 mr? You think that'll do anything against an ADC or Assassin? Jesus you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for arguments here. Edit: Oh forgot to mention that Abyssal will no longer give AP so it's no longer a mage item.
