Is Titanic still too strong? Or is Rav weak? Why isn't Rav more popular?

Camille item 3748 Jax item 3748 Trundle item 3748 Renekton item 3748 Yorickitem 3748 Warwick item 3748 Kayn item 3748 Riven item 3074 Fiora item 3074

I understand that Titanic just makes more sense on these champions.. But is there a way we can make Rav more appealing? Does Rav need an active buff? Does Titanic need an active nerf? Or is it fine to keep Rav a rare buy?

I said this last year and it still hasn't been touched. The meta trolls want it in the game for how strong it is. It gives AoE damage, additional damage to intended target, gets stronger as you get tankier, and resets your AA. Tell me what other weapon in the game comes close to that.

Yeah.. I mean i like the item, but i feel like its still too strong for being both defensive (HP stats) and offensive (damage tied to your hp)

Rav AoE is static in damage and there are better sustain items that don't require you to AA (like DD).

Simple.

So what are you trying to say exactly xD

Ralanr1 votes

You can't make rav do more damage.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Why not?

Ralanr1 votes

Because it doesn't have a ratio like titanic.

UNIQUE – CRESCENT: Deals (60% to 100% AD) physical damage to units around you – (60% AD near the edge) (400 units radius) (10 second cooldown).

The reason people choose this over the other version is because of the tank stats. It gives decent damage while making you more tanky which is always good for those champions who get in the middle of the fight and don't want to pop instantly.

Exactly.. So shouldn't there be a more significant trade off?

you forgot rengar......titanic syncs with cinderhulk more then warrior syncs with rh

Dreadlocks1 votes

I left out a lot of champions who buy these items because its not really a core... Rengar rarely even buys a tiamat item.

khorney1 votes

i buy tiamat due to helps clear times and helps wave clear there is nothing bad about getting rh on him

Dreadlocks1 votes

It's not "bad" there are just better options.. which is why it isn't seen on him much. His Q is AoE so adding a Tiamat is a little overkill in terms of wave clear.

Ravenous Hydra is for squishy champions who want to animation cancel things. In a perfect world, it would be the sustaining item of choice for Assassins like Talon and Zed and Rengar and Kha'Zix, all of which have neat interactions with it (Hydra active damage is replicated by Death Mark, Kha and Rengar can activate it while jumping and the damage applies where they will land, etc).

I think it's Life Steal takes a lot of it's power budget.

I feel like Titanic does those things better.. AA reset, strong burst even without building health around it.. and it gives you HP..

Like I said, I think the Life Steal actually ends up holding it back, especially compared to Death's Dance or even Bloodthirster.

Perhaps if it built into a Lethality item instead of a Life Steal item? And since it's melee only, wouldn't need to worry about ranged champions abusing it.

I don't think we really need to go to that extreme to be honest.. The item was fine until Titanic came out.. Now it's competing with that... I still think Titanic does too much damage and that is by far the biggest reason why its picked up so frequently.. So i think toning down Titanic would be a better option. As much as i like the item, i still think the design is flawed, and at the very least, should be toned down as i said.

Need to be careful there, though.

Perhaps nerf the base and buff the hp scaling so it still comes out as best for tanky Fighters like Renekton.

Because most people want the guaranteed, upfront, life of titanic hydra over the potential life gain of ravenous hydra.

If you run the numbers, you'd have to do well over 3,000 damage with ravenous hydra to heal the 450 health that titanic just gives you. If you live that long. In a team fight, you probably won't. Titanic hydra's damage also scales with HP while ravenous hydra heal scales poorly with damage.

Rav actually is more gold efficient than titanic in terms stats. However, Titanic give more tank stats and is teh safer option, where you dont die even if you make some mistakes. In some of those characters like camille and renecton and trundle rav can work better if you play perfectly. You would be walking a very fine line where one mistake and you could be dead.

I don't think that makes it better in anyway lol. I know back when you could swap the 2 around Trundle would start with the Rav Hydra then swap for Tiamat later in the game.. But thats not an option anymore.

For trundle specifically, rav is a split push build and titanic is a team fight build. 2 trundle on equal farm and level, the one with rav will win. The trundle with titanic can survive more in a team fight to allow for his adc to deal damage.

I think even if i was playing a splitpush role i'd still buy Titanic.. it has far too many "pros" than all the "cons" of rav.
