Where has Ignite and Grievous Wounds Gone?

I read the article on Top Lane the other day and was quite offended that when whats his face from whose it's team was discussing the many options of top lane he not once mention the Summoner spell combination of Ignite and Flash. He even had the audacity to say that Teleport and ignite was more viable top lane.

Ignite and flash (for me) has always been THE summoner spell combination, since the first time I started playing. Once I hit level 30, mastering these spells in conjunction with one another was what got you clutch kills, and got you out of clutch deaths.

Now I'm starting to see less of Ignite everywhere, even in mid lane. Is it simply that weak?

Is it the Grievous Wounds that it applies so toxic to the game that Riot just wants us to brush it off? Maybe this is the reason Grievous Wounds is being treated like the new Silence. Little do we know the Swains and Vladimirs will soon come for our butts to make us regret not taking Ignite.

Perhaps Ignite should have better scaling in the late game. Maybe make it so it stops ALL healing and not simply half it.

The reason Flash Ignite is no longer a top combo is because top lane is no longer an island, or at least not as much of an island as it used to be. You have to be ready to impact the rest of the map in the late-early to mid game. Ignite is great for countering sustain and getting an early snowball, but there are stronger spells out there when it comes to the longer goal of winning the game.
