I just lot a game at 24 minutes where the enemy team mowed down tier 1 mid to nexus
Before I begin, allow me to provide some context:
-Gold was practically dead even -Before the rundown of my towers, we were up in towers 3-2 -The game ended at 23:36, the bloodbath began at roughly 22ish minutes -They had baron (sadly our Yi got outsmited but the baron rush was a bad play) -We certainly made our mistakes, I probably should've teleported back while they were zerging our team down mid, but I honestly did not think we were in danger of straight up losing the game off of the death of 3-4 teammates. -You can find the game here: https://lan.op.gg/summoner/userName=chogathsson I was Jax vs Neeko top (this hurt my life)
I am not even complaining that we lost necessarily. I am not here to attribute this to some overpowered champion. I am not here to write off the 23 minute game I had as boring. In fact, it was quite the opposite. It was a game we had a strong hold on at one point but we made a few bad plays that kept them in the game. They were also farming better than us, so I doubt they were ever truly far behind. The game was actually a lot of fun, I was really enjoying myself.
But lets cut the bullshit: I don't care what the circumstances are. It should not be possible for a team to get 2-3 kills then just proceed to mow down 3 towers (granted mid tier 1 was at half health, but this really wouldn't have made a difference), an inhib, then 2 more towers, then a nexus. Yes, if you watch the replay, you will immediately criticize me for not backing right away. Zilean teleported to mid tier 2 after it happened, and he got killed instantly. But again, I really just did not think they were going to push down mid and win like that. When I noticed Zilean had died, I saw death timers at 30 seconds+ and I realized there wasn't anything I was going to be able to do anyway: they'd run me over without it really delaying them anyway.
This is somewhat of a rage post, but I'll be honest: I am not even really mad. I'm in shock. But I shouldn't be, because I see this shit happen all the time. And I still don't think these pathetic excuses for towers are any better than they are last season. Turret plate gold is free snowballing and only means that snowballing is a little harder pre-14 minutes, but once a team gets rolling, they get rolling fast. Your games on average might be longer slightly, but they don't feel competitive and they still end way too easily. That is because late game towers are a joke. They do no damage and they die to everything with AP and AD.
Though I am not mad, I am frustrated. I do not even feel like we had an opportunity to respond. I would not feel bad if this happened with 30-35 minutes into a game, because players will have more items, levels and cools more readily available. But dawg, 23 minutes? Are you being real right now? At one point, for a very long time, laning phase would END by about 20 minutes. And honestly, I still find games ending so abruptly often enough that my takeaway from many games that I play is that I really didn't even have enough time to really enjoy it.
Honestly, I really hope Riot looks at changing this gameplay. Yes, it is true that come backs are possible now - far more than they were last season. But the games swing so hard so quickly now, because damage is still absurdly high, and cooldowns are absurdly low. Factor in laughbly weak towers, fucktarded minion AI, stupid ass minion block, and you have a recipe for a game that offers more negatives than positives. I still love League and enjoy it, but I am getting to the point again where I look at playing this game more as a chore to fulfill a hobby rather than organic experience of enjoyment and worthwhile-ness.
