So sick of people playing their m7 mains in norms....

How the hell are you supposed to learn a new champ or come back to an old champ you used to play when you have these mastery 7 spamming Zed Yasuo who are in every single game.

Like, I want to pick up Irelia again, but I can't because I'm ALWAYS without fail, matched against a Zed or Yasuo main who has at least 100k on their champ. I'd also love to learn some mages...but I can't do that when I'm matched against these pieces of work.

Imo there should be a limit to how many times you can play the same champion in norms every day, just to ensure that everyone is treating this type of game as a place to learn and have fun, not a place to essentially be turned into what is essentially an anti-fun budget ranked game.

I'm seriously sick of it, I play the game for fun, not to tryhard every game.

I don't want to play Katarina every game man...

You should be able to play whatever you want in norms with no limitations outside bans

Śhunpo3 votes

Then how do you learn new champions without wanting to throw your monitor out the window?

Eedat5 votes

Well you're going to get bodied a bit. Learn and try again. Norms aren't just your personal training grounds and people should be able to play whatever they want.

Śhunpo2 votes

How the fuck am I supposed to learn a champ then?

  1. Pick him, play and lose, learn from your loss
  2. Pick him again, play and lose, learn from your loss ... n. Pick him, play and win
Śhunpo1 votes

Learn from your loss in a damage meta. Aight, bet.

Yeah, others have echoed this sentiment in this thread, and on this point, I'll side with OP. You learn nothing from getting stomped on by smurfs. It's just not true.

By losing till your vs lower skill players or other folks who are trying to learn a champ.

enshine6 votes

but... if they main the champion, that obviously just means they think it's fun. why wouldn't they play 4fun in norms?

Śhunpo2 votes

No, they legitimately tryhard, especially when they're duo with their jungler.

Doctor Shabbos4 votes

There are some decent players who only play norms. They don't play ranked at all. A few of the players with the highest mastery points in certain champions never play ranked (although some of those also are rather low MMR).

M7 doesn't mean all that much. You're really putting too much significance on that status.

If you only want to become proficient with a champion's mechanics, then maybe make a custom game with multiple bots. You can give your team as much of a handicap as you want and play for an hour. But that's all that you'll get out of it... how the champion works.

Śhunpo1 votes

Bots are nowhere near good enough practice, and facing someone with 200k+ on a champion is too overbearing. There needs to be a middle ground in norms.

Bots have excellent champion mechanics, in general. (That Veigar intermediate bot is a #$%^.)

The difference between the bots and the M7 in your norms, would be in macro play, and not to do with champion proficiency.

Besides, as I said, you can handicap your team. Can you win the actual 1v5 vs an intermediate team of bots?

I think the bigger point is the fact that they are playing a mastery 7 champ in norms, beating his ass. Not the fact that they're using their emotes lol.

beating my ass when I try champs I'm foreign to*

I don't want to play the same champions every single bloody game.

Sucks to be you, then. If you're allowed to ruin games for your team by playing something you have little to no experience on and feeding your ass off, then I'm allowed to play my 800k M7 Jhin and take advantage of you. Deal with it.

This statement from you really surprises me, Cadence. He is talking about normal games, not ranked. Where else are you expected to learn new champions if not in normals?

It's right that no one can forbid you to play your mains in normal games (I do this myself, since I don't play ranked), but claiming that someone who learns a new champion is "ruining the game for their team" is just wrong.

To be totally honest I'm fucking done being nice at this point and am actively contemplating suicide/running away/doing something rid the world of the cancerous growth that is me. I hit my breaking point a long time ago, and Riot decided to final deal the killing blow by giving Jhin a face reveal in Zed's upcoming comic. I now have nothing again. No game to play. No character to love. No friends to talk to. Nothing. Every time I'm feeling better, something happens to make me feel a million times worse than I was before. I'm sick of it, really. So tired of losing everything over and over and over again. I don't know why I bothered trying for over 18 years when I know it will always end the same way.

18 years of relentless harassment and bullying. 18 years of knowing that my family didn't want to keep me and doesn't love me. 18 years of being so alone that I don't even know how to associate with other human beings. 18 years of physical, emotional, and mental agony. 18 years of watching this world crumble.

I don't know how any human being could keep living like this. I really don't.

I don't even care what people remember me as, because they won't remember me anyway. I haven't done anything to make me worth remembering.

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

The thing about a face reveal in Zed's comic is news for me, where did you get that information from?

About all the other stuff, I know how you feel, I've felt the same way for many years. I would like to offer to talk with you about this subject, but I think it is a bit too private to put it here on the boards, but maybe there are some other means I can contact you about this?

Just don't give up, please. I unfortunately never had the pleasure to know you in person, but I really enjoyed exchanging opinions with you here about the world we both love so dearly. You can make friends, really, I wouldn't hesitate to become friends with you if I ever had met you.

You can make it through, letting the people who bullied you win is not an option. You will find happiness and there is nothing they can do about it. Take that from someone who went through similar experiences in the past.

4 Step Cadence1 votes

On the boards... From Jhin's writer himself, Odin...

And I'd rather not. I'm done talking about it. Selfish and self-centered anyway.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Alright, sorry if I came off as pushing.

But you should work on not putting yourself down like that. There is nothing selfish or self-centered about getting sick of shit. Just make sure to punch through it.

I'm just not coming back. I hate Riot and League as much as the next person. The only thing keeping me here was Jhin. He was the only thing I cared about. Losing him, to me, is comparable to losing a loved one. I feel that level of emptiness and know that its not going away anytime soon. I sat in the client for at least an hour just staring at him and my collection and just crying because I put in all that work and money only for Riot to fuck him over like they do with every other champion. At least other people got to spend longer with their champions before Riot got them, but I got 2 years. At least I got to see his legendary, but now I know why Riot didn't save it for his 4 year anniversary. I think they knew his face reveal would trigger a lot of people, so they wanted to maximize the profits before then.

I just... Wish they cared less about money/LC$ and more about the integrity of their characters, their world, the community, ect, that's all. At least reworks are just a re-imagining of a champion to make them the same, but better. But constantly changing the lore and changing the champions into something that goes against everything they're supposed to be is just... Wrong. I get that the lore is always changing and shit needs to be updated with every new release, and I'm okay with that, but why needlessly retcon stuff that doesn't need to be retconned? Why remove stuff that doesn't need to be removed? Its just so frustrating and I just can't anymore.

You still learn even if you're against a M7 champion.

Śhunpo1 votes

Do you really though? Especially against the two champs I've mentioned...

Lovelle1 votes

Getting your ass kicked is the best way to learn your champ's weaknesses, along with what builds don't work. Going against diamond+ and M7 players makes playing against normal players a breeze. You get better without even realizing it, assuming your goal is to actually improve.

If I can do it with a champ like Trundle (who has a plethora of exploitable weaknesses in this high burst meta), you can definitely do it with Irelia. She has the capacity to take teams apart near-singlehandedly when played well.

Śhunpo1 votes

I'd argue that this logic is less applicable this season due to damage meta and atrocious matchmaking.

But... I enjoy playing my main. That's why I main him... It...

Timethief491 votes

So if i havent played for a month and play my main in ranked i will do badly cause im out of it and will get flamed, but i shouldnt be allowed to get used to him in normals either cause i should theoretically be good at him?

Śhunpo2 votes

That's not exactly what I'm saying, I'm just saying people shouldn't be able to spam games with them in normal games.

What if i hate playing every champ but one. I want to have fun in normals. Do you want me to have a bad time with any champ or have a good time with the one i like.

Śhunpo1 votes

Then learn more champions. Overwatch tried to dissaude one tricking, League should do the same, just in casual play.

Its not about beeing able to play them or learning them. I play normals for fun and enjoyment. Why should i play those i dont enjoy?

macspam1 votes

Lol I agree it's annoying but just don't stress too much about losing and you'll be ok.

I recently hit M7 on Talon and I still struggle with some match ups like Ahri or Xerath. It's wrong to practice or even play the champion for the sake of fun? As you said I also play the game for fun, it's wrong that I enjoy playing Talon, he is not even my most played champion, he is not even near that...

Harden Stepback1 votes

That's how you improve

Lovelle1 votes

Some of us only play normal games. The problem is that ARAM, SR and TT are too damn snowball-heavy, where a couple early mistakes cost you the whole game. Dominion and Ascension used to be perfect modes for getting used to new champions, because of the short game length, lack of snowballing, and reaching full build pretty much every game. Why Riot got rid of those modes is beyond me.
