"They just had a bad game."

I hear this often as a justification for the enormous skill disparity that exists in lower elo, and I kind of feel like it's a poor excuse.

What is having a bad game? Having a bad game is I gave up 2 or 3 kills, and am slowly losing cs to the enemy cause im stuck under turret. Going 0/11/1 which my top laner did last game, or my 2/14 kindred who couldnt get sated in a 43 minute game then talked about how he 'carried people to diamond', this is not a 'bad game' this is people with a fundamental lack of understanding on how to play the game.

Solution?

Is it fair to consider a game # requirement of normals after hitting before someone can solo que ranked? Would this tighten up the skill disparity that exists in bronze / silver?

Nothing to do with skill disparity. People DO have bad games.

I usually keep it together, don't feed that bad in a loss, contribute to a win, have my share of 12/4/17 games, etc.

But I HAVE went 0/22 before.

Also on my record:

1/21 5/25 2/17 2/15 2/14

Gold 4 and climbing.

i once decided to watch one of the random games that you get on the bottom right side of the client. you know given that they are "high elo" and YES they were no lying about that. BUT, but... 13 mins... blue team AFK in Base dancing while red team is pushing nexus already...

that day i realized, that it doesnt matter where you are, who you are, what you are... this happens at all levels of play. so i didnt bother with ranked except gold for rewards and thats it.

The answer is: no, it wouldn't tighten up the skill disparity that exists in bronze / silver. It would merely add another layer of requirement to enter ranked play. The reason is that if the players you are talking about really view their losses as simply "bad games" then it suggests that they don't particularly see how they would have played differently. And this suggests that even if they played the same game over again that they would have made similar decisions through out the game. Therefore, playing more games wouldn't really change that they have "bad games".
