Wukong QOL Changes Suggestions

Wukong is a champion that currently sits in the neutral stat of not being crap, not being really good and is generally perceived as just good, this I believe has lead to him not getting much notice when it comes to some QOL changes that his kit really needs to make him feel alot more fluid as a champion, this can range from simple changes that make his kit feel much nicer to use to some bigger changes that would make him that much better as a champion, so I will point out the areas I think he could use tweaks ranging from small to big that would help him grow as a champion.

Small Tweaks

R

The Problem His ultimate tick rate, now currently his ultimate has a tick rate of 1 second what this means is that there is a 1 second period between each "hit" of it this means that often you can ult, move to an enemy and it takes the ability awhile to realise they are in the area of it and as such should take damage and be knocked-up this often allows people to flash or dash out of the ult when it should be hitting them.

The Solution Make his tick rate every 0.25 seconds so he applies 25% of the damage every 0.25 secs so it adds up to 100% damage at 1 sec this makes the ability apply more fluid vs enemies and ensures that they get hit and knocked-up by the ability when they come into range, this would not change the damage of the ability but would make it much more fluid and nicer to use.

Medium Tweaks (Major Idea Throwing)

W

First I expect this to be controversial as a suggestion but I want to put it out there and see how the idea gets received and what people think of it, so I know it sounds crazy but hay lets see.

The Change Make the W stealth time scale, it currently sits at a flat 1.5 seconds which is ok and nice but when it gets to late game with fast MS and lots of disengage this becomes really low amount of time and not as useful, so I believe it should be changed from 1.5 sec's flat to 1/1.5/2/2.5/3, this makes the ability slightly weaker early but much better late game and makes the ability more usefull into the game and opens up more options for Wukong when he levels up the ability.

Large Tweaks

P

The Change Whole new passive, simple as.

Wukong currently has one of the most boring and unintuitive passives in the game, for those that don't know it does:

Wukong gains 4 / 6 / 8 bonus armor and magic resistance for each visible nearby enemy champion.

This means early to mid game when you really only be vs 1 other person, maybe 2 if jungler there you get 4/6 (1 guy) or 8/12 (2 guys) to to put simply 1 armour = 20 gold, so his passive is worth 80/120/160 gold per person near him.

so using the early game examples it gives 4/6, 80/120 gold passive or 8/12, 160, 240 gold passive.

This makes it not really useful early and by time its late game that small amount of armour you get when you can see 5 of them 8x5 = 40 is not really useful and seems really weak as a passive.

Conclusion

Small Tweak I believe that the small tweak should defiantly be implemented to make his ult feel alot better to use and feel much more fluid in the game in order to make the champion feel much better to play, and not feel like the game robbed you, where often due to the tick rate people wouldn't not be knocked up.

Medium Tweak This medium tweak i would like to see how people see it and what they think of the idea and how it would work in game because at the minuet you don't really get anything from levelling up W cause of the ability scaling with AP and how the ability works often the damage doesn't hit the enemy, it feels like the ability should focus more on the stealth and out play aspect that with the game of the ability.

Large Tweak I know I left this open as just "something new" but it does feel really bland and boring as a passive and should be looked at or changed to make it more interesting for the champion and give more interesting interactions instead of just + armour and MR when near enemies.

Overall

I hope some of these ideas can get implemented or at least get the champion looked at to see ways to give more to him without making him OP or increasing his damage numbers as I think he needs to just be given a few QOL changes to really open him up and allow people to do more with him.

Maybe change the invisibility time for w scale 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 Three seconds is a little long, and one second is just a little short.

I like the ult change, as it makes the ult damage more reliable.

The W stealth scaling is a lot though. A 3 second stealth on a basic ability is really long; Kha'zix's ult stealth doesn't last that long even when evolved. Maybe a max of 2 seconds, if that. Longer than that gives him much more surprise engage potential. This would also make a clone fake out manuever harder to pull off since it will stand still longer. Most people won't think it's you if it lasts a much longer time doing nothing but standing still.

The passive is roughly equal to Shyvana dragon form passive in a full 5v5 (she gains 40 mr and armor, so does he) late game. However, I wouldn't call it "weak," I'd argue it is a very strong passive, since that's the equivalent of 4 cloth armors or 66.66666% of a Randuin's Omen + the mr on top of it. In essence, 4/5 of a G.A. without the revive capacity. I think it could have an additional effect to make it more interactive but not scrapped completely, as it adds to his identity as a teamfighting god.

Just some thoughts. Good ideas though!

The stealth isn't that long other champions have alot more and they do more damage, such as Shaco Q but I see where your coming from and it would need to be balanced carefully but I think it would open him up to change it.

Oh yeah definitely. Shaco's can last a total of like 5-8 seconds or something like that. The only issue is that if Wukong is invisible for too long, he can stealth into a teamfight and engage with his e into ulti and destroy a carry quite easily since his ult ratio is a 1.0. That's just my thoughts on it. Shaco's stealth may be pretty long but he doesn't have the sheer power that Wukong does (in teamfights and such).

Wukong just needs to be brought up to the level of other champions or other champions need to be brought down towards wukong. To me, wukong is the gold standard for balance, but ironically the most balanced champions are pretty underwhelming because most people play OP champions
