Jax and Riven both have defensive steroids for building damage

Except Riven has a better early game, is manaless, can roam better, can shove lanes better, has better itemization options because she needs way less stats to function, and is a better teamfighter

and Jax is a monster late game that can destroy everyone, is an excellent splipusher, his mana costs are meaningless as soon as he gets out of the laning phase and he deals physical and magic damage making it harder to itemize against him, his autos get faster the longer he is in a fight AND can take 0 damage from auto attacks and 25% less damage from AoE abilities.

so easy to just completely ignore the other champion when you are comparing them

Yea, no

Jax is trash, that's why he has buffs on the PBE

RIven outclasses him at every stage in the game currently

Keep thinking he's viable tho

Well they nerfed Jax's base armor and mr stats so now he's quite papery in the early game which is why he he has all but vanished from the top lane, just can't really compete early on with trading.

Although I'm pretty sure he is considered a counter to Riven, purely because of his e negating that early damage Riven gets on her empowered auto-attacks, Now add in Jax's leap strike which allows Jax to stick to riven despite her dashes. Jax's w just allows him to win a trade harder than he already does in the match up provided that Jax was able to dodge the empowered autos and leap strike to riven after she blows her valor's dash and lets the shield decay.

Despite what I said though, I don't think Jax is quite viable overall. He's just too fragile in the early game and doesn't clear a wave as fast as other split pushers like Fiora or Tryndamere (Although man he shreds those turrets fast.) Jax may have a god-like late game, but the ramp up period to that late game period is too long.

Perhaps thats why Riven is complained about so much. The counters aren't able to do their jobs. But hey, now that Garen has seen the juggernaut changes and that Jax is getting some buffs on the PBE, maybe Riven won't be such a big deal when her buffed-counters start prowling back into the top lane.

i'll keep thinking he is viable and way better than Riven late game all you want, its the truth and you nothing you say will change that

Why did you bring viability into this? Viability has to do with the meta, not champion strength. Yes champion strength determines whether a champion can be viable, but it does not directly impact viability.

You shouldn't use this as a crutch to ignore all of the things Jax hypothetically beats Riven at, even though you said all the things Riven hypothetically beats Jax at.

Jax usuallly shits on Riven late game 1 v 1. Jax is the prototypical duelist.

Jax has monstrous late game just with Trinity Force and full tank. Jax destroys pretty much every champion late game. Jax's E is more superior imo. Dodging auto-attacks and reduced magic damage, while Riven only gets a 1.5 duration shield for ~400 health late game. Jax'E and Riven's E have almost the same cooldown.
