Psychologically, what do you have to do to make your tank believe he can go in and tank?

LIke, I need them to engage n shit. What do I need to do to get them to do this? Do I need to pet them or tell them they are pretty? Rito, please. I suck at this game. Do something.

Target pings help.

Also, consistency. Danger ping when you're not ready to go in, target ping when you are. If you are consistent with your behavior in that regard, they'll recognize the pattern and start following it.

When it gets to the points where they see the ping and react on reflex because they don't just know, but feel you're going to be there and follow up, you know you've done your job right.

As a jungle main, engaging has often been my job. Trust is a serious thing here.

as a tank main i would agree that the best way to get anything done is to pet your tank and tell them they're pretty

Make it so that your tank actually knows that there will be a followup. Can't tell you how many times I've went in and no one followed. Eventually, your confidence in randoms just fades and you never want to go in, because your team will only follow you 1/4 of the time.

I...I got nothing. I tend to engage on instinct.

When it comes to engaging in my opinion it has to occur naturally. I've rarely ever forced an engagement that ended well. While Blitz can just pull someone in, sometime it's just better to wait until an enemy is out of position and engage at that point. While some tanks come with an easy built in engage like Blitz others like a lesser experienced Malphite might feel a little different about rushing in.
