His wings don't appear large enough to actually fly. He can jump high and dive, but flying probably takes an excessive amount of energy. Think of his wings like a chickens. Chicken's wings make them faster, give them better balance, allows them to climb better, and allows them to glide. And while they are capable of flying (well, domestic chickens are often too fat), it takes a massive amount of energy, so they avoid it if possible.

His wings are big, but so is he. His wings don't look like they would generate enough lift to make him fly.

But then, why are we applying logic here? Nautilus literally swims in thin air.

If we just say throw logic to the wind, then there is no more reason he should be able to fly the that he shouldn't.

His wings are big sure, but his body is also big. Plus, he carries a large weapon. His wingspan would need to be massive to fly efficiently. And his wingspan is about comparatively the same as a Chicken's, and chickens aren't carrying weapons. It is only because he is so incredibly powerful that those wings can lift him at all.

Why can't a powerful creatures use wings but not fly? There are plenty of animals that do that. It is a very effective method, as bipedalism is more effective than flying. Also, the game is filled with powerful people that can't fly. Aatrox can already do more than most of them, as he can fly for short periods.

Wild Chickens can fly for short periods of time. It is just domestic chickens that can't fly.

That is why I think Aatrox is the coolest looking champion. He looks like he is a completely outfitted warrior, but everything is natural. He has a built in banner, his sword is a living organism, and he has horns that make a built in helmet. He looks like what a creature that was naturally designed for conflict and nothing else would look like.

Exactly. He doesn't look/feel fallen or really brutal at all. It is elegant and natural. Birds fly, fish swim, and he kills.

Actually that aren't even his wings. It's more of a decorative part, almost like a Flag.

The actual wing part at the top seems OK, but it is really small.

They have holes in them, which would only make him able to glide for a period of time. They also seem to wave in the wind, meaning it probably isn't too strong material.
