How accurate is the op.gg MMR?

I ask this question, mainly because my MMR keeps fluctuating between "higher than this league" and "normal" I've won 3 in a row and my total MMR dropped. Last game i earned 16 lp, but the opposing team had all 5 players about my current ranking of Platinum 5. Any answers?

The number is probably pretty accurate but w.e the worded text says is not very accurate. If that makes sense.
