Why did it take so long to nerf Zoe?

AirKingNeo··2 votes·432 views

I'm glad Zoe was nerfed and I think she's bullshit, but I completely don't understand why it took so long to nerf her?

It was very blatant she was overpowered, and the excuse not to nerf her would be "we're gathering data." However, if they were gathering data, wouldn't her nerfs be targeted to what was broken about her rather than "nerf everything about her"?

If they were really gathering data and that's why they didn't nerf her quickly, why is she just getting nerfed into the icebox?

Riot thought things would change if people could adjust to the champion. For real, think about paddlestar. She needs to cast it backwards to cast it forward. E is ridiculously telegraphed too. They thought, well people just need to adapt, but no one was willing to try to adapt to her play-style.

Because she isn't and wasn't overpowered, only thing I ever thought was bullshit was her E being too easy to land.

Her paddle star could 1 hit you off screen.

If you let it hit you, if a skillshot you have to fire off screen behind you lands from that far away, it deserves to.

it's not really a skill shot. you get a crosshair telling you where it will land.

Regardless of how you feel about Zoe, her Q(and E) is a skill shot. Skill shot means it is not point and click, thats all.

That's what I'm saying. Why wait and gather data if you're just going to icebox her?

Hoping the community would see her flaws first so they wouldn't need to.

Zoe's situation is more complicated then you are trying to make it seem. For starters i want people to get the idea of her being overpowered out. She was not overpowered and her performance even among the absolute best Zoe players was average at best.

Zoe's problem is her kit design. having a majority of her power into 1 button created the pre-rework Nidalee syndrome that promotes toxic game-play which is increased by the fact that it was AoE and longer range. You mix that with an E that is similar to a morgana root you spell disaster.

Now the main problem with the design is her E has to last that long to setup her combo or it doesn't work. Her R then in turn is designed to help set that combo up. The W lost a lot of the worst summons that were causing issues with it so it is mostly okayish(as far as i can see the complaints on W(rightfully so) were mostly summoner 12 and item 3146 being able to spawn on minions and that has since been removed).

So whats likely going to need to happen with Zoe is they are going to need to completely change her burst combo to something else meaning Q,E, and R will likely need to be something else entirely and they will also probably want it not be something generic as well.

All these things considered is probably why they do not yet have an idea down for her changes yet simply because they have to look at those spicific things.

She was nerfed the patch after she was added to the game. In fact, she's been nerfed every patch since her release except 8.2.

Your thread's premise is founded on bullshit my friend.

You people keep baselessly saying how it was "obvious" she was op? Tell me by what metric? When she's a tier 4 laner on op gg PRE NERF and solidly 50 percent or below wr what exactly is so OBVIOUS about her apparently being so op?

Akali is SO HOT2 votes

It only took them like 3 or 4 patches to gut her tho. That's not exactly long compared to other champs.

They wanted to see where all the frustrations were to play against her. They didn't want to keep chipping away each patch.

So the gutted her, and put nerfs across the board. Now they want to slowly add some power back so she's still in a decent place and fun to play, but still fair to play against.
