That is a pretty harsh nerf, but I figure it will make a lot of people happy. I hope she gets a slight power boost elsewhere in her kit since the previous nerfs chunked Caitlyn down quite a bit already and this is definitely a substantial nerf.

I just hope Riot isn't so fixated on whipping Caitlyn into the ground that they forget about the other ADCs who are actually dominating the meta. Jhin Draven Twitch

This does hurt her early game potential. At this point, Caitlyn players are well aware of how Caitlyn works, so the 2 second window is just large and unnecessary.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

As if that 650 AA range isn't enough for you.....

Rand0mH3r0X1 votes

What?

I'm in favor of this balance change. The stun gives Caitlyn too much time to get a follow up shot, as well as allow junglers to complete travel down into a lane.

Zielmann27 votes

This actually gives those laning against her a fair shake at clearing her traps out without eating a max-range headshot. Most of the time it feels like the only safe time to clear traps in the lane is when she's gone back to shop. If she's anywhere nearby, she currently has 2 seconds to get close enough to take that headshot (and from so far away there's really nothing you can do about it).

Highjacking here: Rioter stated the actually stun on live 1.5 seconds at all ranks, not 2 seconds.

>.< Okay, that's actually not that bad. Darn misinformation. :/

She definitely doesn't need a compensation.

Glory ln Death2 votes

Considering that she's, like, the third lowest winrate ADC after her previous nerfs (the rise of lethality again can be blamed a bit, as well), she could probably use some compensation. Nothing huge, but a little something to keep her out of the trash can.

This doesn't seem as harsh of a nerf as you make it sound imo. I mean that way they're actually traps not 50% Morgana snares, waiting for the Cait to run up to range and shoot them. This way she has to think meaningfully and shoot fast.

To be fair, at the time of my typing that there was a typo on Surrender@20 that said her current live trap time was 2 seconds, not 1.5. So yeah, it really isn't as big of a deal as I thought. I wasn't trying to make it sound harsher than it was though. 2 second trap down to .9/.../1.5 would have been pretty significant.

Yeah I hope Caitlyn gets back some of her base attack speed and attack speed growth though knowing Riot they are quite rigid at reverting their nerfs.

Profirix3 votes

I think after all these nerfs though she will need a little compensation. These have not been small nerfs by any standard. She definitely needed it though.

Galio is also getting Azir'd/Rek'Sai'd/Shen'd.

  • Galio Hero's Entrance (R) Cooldown increased from 160/140/120 to 180/150/120 Ally damage reduction lowered from 20/30/40% to 20% at all ranks

Olaf'd sounds so much better.

SweedishGunner12 votes

That's old school. People might not get it.

He's actually been alright for like 2 seasons now, I'm surprised he hasn't seen any pro-play in the current meta.

Enlegacy3 votes

He does occasionally, although he was bigger last season.

Big Lincoln8 votes

i think this is closer to season 4 kassadin where Riot nerfed everything but the problem to preserve niche and then nerfed that thing

Why are they continuing to nerf him when he's fine?

BoilTheOil2 votes

Because hes good in pro play literally only because of that hes not a problem anywhere else

if they keep up these heavy handed nerfs he'll just be another rek'sai.

Melledoneus4 votes

This is Shen'd for sure.

Champion is picked in pro play for one reason, Riot nerfs everything but that one thing, then nerfs it afterwards, leaving said champion in a bad place.

BlueBilberry8 votes

That looks like a step in the right direction.

An Enemy Sutando8 votes

Yep, Riot caved into the demands. Yet again.

Sexy Jack Rabbit11 votes

Riot's caving because her ban-rate is quite high. Which is often pretty indicative of a game health problem.

The Blue Rajah3 votes

It can be. Not always. It often takes banrate quite a while to drop after a champion stops being overpowered. Like back when zed had a 70% banrate and a 46% winrate. No changes followed that, but patch after patch his banrate fell as the population at large realized he wasn't strong anymore. Remember, the vast majority of people don't check winrate websites. Hell, most people don't even read the patch notes.

Sexy Jack Rabbit3 votes

She's been nerfed for quite a while now and her ban-rate hasn't budged much. It's seems pretty indicative that her ban rate being roughly the same after 3 patches that her kit has game health problems.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Literally 100% picked or banned proplay last few patches. What chu smokin'?

Reaper Soraka6 votes

All they really did was increase the skill required to take advantage of her trap bonus damage. You can't position yourself 2000 range away to take advantage of a 1400 range shot anymore.

I like it at least. They can't play so safe if they want to use the trap bonus damage.

Nevrankroaton6 votes

Won't stop people from b*tching about her, not understanding how she has to work with her trap in duel/TF to properly duel and how it is going to make her feel clunky.

Honestly, I hope they will give her something to compensate because while it isn't that bad (you max trap once you put 3 lvl in Q anyway), the AS nerf was hard enough to make her feel kinda clunky.

A Liberal1 votes

Shouldn't an ADC not be able to duel though... like unless you're Vayne or Draven adc's aren't really supposed to be duelists.

Saga185 votes

This is way too harsh considering they already nerfed several other aspects. This is just gonna make the other really strong adcs even more prevalent and essentially creating another cait.

Cavesloth5 votes

She been on top so damn long, she kinda deserved it at this point.

Durzaka3 votes

This is a very good change.

But I really hope they revert those stupid ASP nerfs, but those were just uncalled for. She needed this nerf only.

Rainfall2 votes

she is already at 48% winrate and she lost half her playrate,i guess they just kept her in the meta to sell the legendary skin. I do not consider playing her in ranked anymore.

Why? There's challengers that made it with champs at 42%

That 48% winrate means you will lose 2 more games than pre need. Every 100 games...

2...

Rainfall4 votes

42% winrate with a realy low playrate is not a trustworthy number. sure there are champions like nidalee always on low winrates because the moment she gets buffed she gets picked by pros but champions like that are almost exclusive to the LCS,like ryze, lissandra etc.

yeah well Nidalee has no form of CC and relies on voice coms for decent ganks... for of course a 5 man team of the beats players is going to make her look OP if she is actaully BALANCED..

Bârd1 votes

Remember when Nid was a laner?

I miss when Nid was a laner.

Reaper Soraka1 votes

I miss being Niddy support. Start off with the enemies blue if you spawned bottom-side!

RacoonHunter2 votes

And yet Morgana can point blank root you and cause the AFK warning to pop up on your screen at rank 1...

ChaosThief3 votes

Well it's 2 seconds at rank 1. Rank 5 is 3 seconds.

And anyway, at least you can auto and use spells. Fiddle and Rammus didn't give you that luxury back then.

Danjeng1 votes

Well you can still auto against Rammus... you just won't do much damage.

ChaosThief4 votes

I mean that's exactly what rammus wants you to do

A Liberal1 votes

The difference is that at rank 1 morgana can't take you to half health with a single snare

Wulfy2 votes

I am...okay with this. Except the max rank is too low.

I'd do something with a harder scale, weaker early. .8/1.1/1.3/1.5/1.75

(Not gonna do real numbers that make sense, but the idea is there.

Revali2 votes

I feel as if people aren't gonna realize the repercussions of this, at this rate Caitlyn may very well resort to lethality to get power in her traps and to amp up her sieging making her traps more deadly, and her poke/clear going to hit harder, they're going about this in a poor direction with ripping so much power from her attackspeed and growth of it.
