-item which prevent the target from attacking, a target can't be disarmed more than one time for 10 seconds -item which only silence spells, a target can't be silenced more than one time for 10 seconds -same thing with a snare -banshee buff can be given to allies and grant AD with health reduced from 450 to 200 -cdr aura item -an abysal scepter item but with armor debuff instead of mr -item which reduce by a % the damage taken by critical strike -thornmail passive deleted, have an active which return 100% of the damage taken
Most of these have some pretty meta-altering flaws and run into some bad design.
Can't auto-attack, silence, and snare are forms of much harder CC than a simple slow, and in each case will make a fight considerably more 1-sided than Exhaust. Even with mediocre combat stats and long cooldowns, those items would be increadibly easy to abuse. Champions designed with no CC would suddenly have a powerful disable, champions with CC might be able to pull off 12 second disabling combos by applying this in their GD gap. In both instances what you're generally be doing is placing a significantly larger emphasis on gold/CSing capability than tactics, which would be a fairly jarring change for how LoL is played.
Banshee's as an active you could place on allies sounds pretty troll.
There was a CDR item that existed, it was called Spirit Shroud, it was only purchased in old-school ARAM. Zileas tends to describe auras as running into a significant power without gameplay problem where people don't value them as much as they're really worth, which makes auras feel unsatisfying in general - and many auras have been phased out of LoL. Also, CDR in particular runs into the issue that it's only calculated once, in the moment a skill goes on cooldown. CDR auras run into the issue they're 100% useless if you step out of the aura's range to cast things.
An armor shred aura would be neat, not gonna lie. While armor pen itemization usually runs into the issue of armor pen being about as saturated as the game can support and further armor pen pushing the game's ecosystem to far: debuffs apply before penetrations, causing an inverted (sub-optimal) scaling with % penetration, where it's flat first then % second. As this has a clear lack of synergy with existing armor pen items, it wouldn't really add to an armor pen issues, and short-ranged auras could add melee-only capabilities, which could easily be worked in without causing massive balance issues.
%crit damage reduction has no reason to exist.
armor, ninja tabi, %AS slows, and HP all reduce the effectiveness of crit damage as-is. As crit is AA based and physical 100% of the time, and armor items often have anti-AA passives, crit is already easier to counter-build than, say, physical abilities, magical sustained damage, or hybridized damage (especially seeing as phys abilities use armor pen as their multiplier).
Also - if you wanted to reduce AA DPS by the 15% of FH with crit reduction, you'd need no less than 45% crit reduction against a standard, 50% end-game crit. You'd have to go into obscene enough values people would wind up going
instead, rendering a crit item useless, or changing the meta so it's useless, leaving no niche for such an item to fill.
Thornmail being changed to 100% reflected damage wouldn't solve any problems, it would simply exaggerate that item's tendency to disproportionately screw over AA champions based on their lack of range. You could essentially no longer play Master Yi with that item existing, due to how her ult works Fiora would be unplayable, Vayne would have serious issues, Lucian, Corkie, and Caitlyn would like that change more - they're either in a good position or dead, where shorter range locks you into kill or be killed situations. Also - while DotA has such an item, they also have an item that grants 200% life steal, one that grants 14 seconds of stealth, one that makes you immune to magic damage and CC for 5 seconds, and so on. DotA actives have no real place in LoL, as they're at an entirely different level of power to things like Kingblade's active or Zhonya's.
bump
So then the ADC just waits for your thornmail buff to go on CD and murders you with impunity? slow clap
An adc waiting to kill you is an adc already dead...
I disagree simply because they can move around still. I just feel they have any number of opportunities to kill you and something with 100% damage return will have a very long cooldown. Especially considering that an ADC that can drop 3500hp tank in 4 seconds will drop themself in 2 with 100% damage return.
Besides that, the Thornmail already has counterplay in that it deals magic damage back to the aggressor. So a person knowing they will face the Thornmail can already reduce the 30% damage return with magic resistance.
Not arguing or anything. Your point is fine. Just saying that it seems kinda pointless if they can bait out the active, then set up another engage while it's on CD.
