Check out this mind boggling hindsight.

2014 Renekton was an unstoppable bully early game.

Essentially, he was a strictly better Jarvan IV top.

Instead of nerfing him, riot revealed their new protocol: Buff underpowered champions so they could keep up with the alligator.

Incoming buffs to top lane Jarvan IV, a cheaper shield and more burst on his passive early game.

They are now an even match in lane.

2015 Renekton is underplayed! We need to give him buffs! His early game and late game are improved.

2015 Jarvan IV is overplayed! We need to nerf his passive armor!

Essentially Renekton is once again a strictly better Jarvan IV top.

DID YOU GUYS JUST UNDO A YEARS WORTH OF WORK??

To be fair, it's not like they're setting Renekton back into the same position he was in before. Top Lane's changed quite a bit since then.

Didn't Renekton take a net nerf in 5.1 to his laning phase in exchange for more teamfight power? (less fury gain/heal off minions, more fury/heal/dmg when hitting 2 or more champs, etc?) Or you talking about something pbe/5.4 patch I don't know about yet?

The meta is Jarvan in the jungle so why are you comparing him to Renekton? Renekton is better at bullying in lane and Jarvan is better at ganking with his circle of YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!. Renekton is now more balanced between lane and late game and J4 is slightly more punished for being such an escape block. It sounds good to me.

didn't think Riot believed in the meta. hence why they buffed his top lane in the first place. He's broken in the jungle, he's healthy top tho.
