Can someone explain why I'm getting these LP gains?

Not a very experienced League player. But from what I heard, the more you win, the bigger your LP gains are. Well, about a week and a half ago, I had a win loss record of 68-84 (44.7% win rate), in Bronze 5. Now my win loss is 91-96 (48.7%), in Bronze 3. However, I've noticed my LP gains getting lower and lower . When I was in Bronze 5, my LP gains would vary every game, ranging from 15-25, usually at 19-21. In Bronze 4, I painfully climbed up gaining 15 lp every game while losing 21. I went 7-1 yesterday and got promoted to Bronze 3. Now here in Bronze 3, I am gaining 14 per game despite winning 23 of my last 35 games. I have never gained 14 lp in a game before, this is the lowest ever. Someone explain this please?

There is a "secret" MMR(old ELO) skill rating system that works behind the ladder system (visible Bronze, Silver, Gold etc.).

Just theoretically imagine both of those systems are numbers. For example your Bronze 3 is 950. Your MMR(the invisible thing) however is on the level of Bronze 5 and equals to 800.

What does that mean for you? You managed to climb too fast and your MMR haven't caught up yet.

Eventually it should normalize, so don't worry about it.

because of your elo rating.

You don't see it, but if your elo rating is to low in comparison to the rating of the division, you won't be gaining as much because you're losing or beating people that are considered worse than you

Basically over time your LP gains will get lower and lower because you've hit about a 50/50 win ratio and are where you are supposed to be. To prove you really deserve to be higher you will have to win a lot of games in a row and slowly climb. This is because they don't want to reward a lucky streak of 10 games and push you up like 2 divisions when you have played 200 in bronze 5. Those 10 games alone dont mean you are suddenly bronze 3 worthy.

It's all about your MMR like Vistha Kai said. When you have low MMR you loose more lp for a lost game and gain less when you win.
