Is nobody talking about Yorick right now, really?

Gets sheen and hits level 6 and suddenly becomes impossible to 1v1 then he finishes trinity and gets raptor cloak and then can push towers alone faster than 5 people.

Let's not forget how fast this dude can solo rift with his ult then just completely obliterate towers by himself and REQUIRING at LEAST 3 people assuming he's not fed.

Easily winning games by himself while his team just watches lol

Impossible! If i learned anything from the boards it's that bruisers are shit and toplane has the impact of a caster minion.

He's not exactly destroying the game statistically.

As a Splitpushing Juggernaut, of course he becomes impossible to 1v1 in his powerspike and of course he splitpushes hard. Many Juggernauts are the perfect combatant for Rift Herald and of course it takes a lot of people to stop him splitpushing.

You're literally complaining about everything he's designed around doing.

Yeah he's a beast pushing but useless in a TF unlike Nasus. Yorick has no motility and his ult maiden is totally stupid @ the best of times.

I really don't see your POV. I play Yorrick I DOMINATE top.....get to 3rd tower and by then my team have fed the enemy non stop, engage in 4 vs 5 fights constantly, all die & fail to push objectives when the enemy have to all come top to the tier 3 tower and gank me to stop me taking inhibitor.

With games ending as quick as they do and respawn timers as low as they Yorick may get tower 1/2 quickly but by tower 3 he's useless. He cant 1 vs 5. He is entirely dependant on a non retarded team who know what to do when he pushes. I mean I've had games where I use TP and push bottom have all 5 enemies come to me @ tier 3 tower AND STILL my team won't take a free baron. its infuriating. Yorick's strength is actually his weakness.

I agree with this. I've been playing top a lot more and as soon as you drill through initial towera, that's it.

The problem with being fast top lane is that it makes you closer to the enemy and then they can come over and pick up kills.

All champs he's got a sub-50 winrate against, some of them being as low as ~38%.

I've started to Main Yorick (Mastery 7)

I cannot stand having to fight Heimerdinger. - Static points of damage constantly shooting + actual stun + Missiles/Auto Attacks at long ranges.

Could try that when you have to fight him next time. Just walk around and take pop shots + Aeryie/Comet.

Jaspers2 votes

Try to aim your E at him, he only has autos to kill ghouls as turrets count as area of effect damage and won't kill them. Hit an E, summon minions and they'll just jump to him, while he is backing off dealing with those turrets. Keep pushing the wave.

Don't go Grasp route, you won't be hitting him often anyway due to range, go Dark Harvest with Resolve as secondary, Domination comes with Dark harvest which works on towers too, a heal when hitting champs, better warding and more healing/movement speed out of combat for taking towers. Resolve demolish then either extra MR with healing MR boost or extra healing in the 3rd set.

E's Range is about the same as his Auto attack, and this Heimer constantly had 3 towers in front of him so there wasn't any trading possible. Grasp isn't very good on a melee with no dive/close ability when Heimer simply has to walk away. E does maybe 50% of the damage needed to kill a turret and has a few second CD. Can't get to minions when he pushes his turrets up into your tower range, then harasses you under tower going so far as to stun you under tower and killing you with out the need to dive you.

It was a fairly bad game.

I've never build / unfamiliar with - Dark Harvest Yorick. I may attempt that as an alternative.

Take my words as you will as I'm unranked (don't intend on even playing it either) and many people don't like that but I'm about 85% win on Yorick at the mo (Heimer is my second highers mastery champ). I feel if you harrass Heimer and push him out of lane with E and minions, instead of trying to take the turrets out, you'll get better results.

I prefer Dark Harvest, be safe, farm safe, get a cannon minion then smack your laner for additional damage. Let ghouls do the harrassing. I find Grasp only good when in sustain lanes vs tanks.

So what's your mastery set up with him? I've been trying out a couple but would love some help.

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

Uhh ... lemme see. Primary: Grasp, Demolish, Conditioning, Overgrowth. Secondary: Transcendence, Gathering Storm.

I build item 1036 item 1006 - Into item 3077 - into item 3078

If I'm ahead then it's item 3748 into item 3053 (REALLY FAR AHEAD then into) item 3812 (Ghouls give life back for life steal)

Otherwise either ZZROT or Armor/MR Depending.

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

and boots after tiamat. this build usually gets me a S- or better each time I've carried. Also using the Maiden in the Jungle (simply take enemy jungle or clear it with your own jungler) makes doing jungle very quick excelling you into late game early.

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

Power spikes are item 3077 item 3057 item 3044item 3078 item 3748 item 3053 . After each of these there is a marked amount of damage your Q does against your lane.

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

In an ARAM it would be different I think. Cause you have to survive damage, likely start Phage into Triforce and then gage and then tank. :p

Friendly Ram1 votes

really overgrowth? doesn't it generally not amount to much?

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

Titantic Hydra scales off health. Squeak in a little more damage with it, and while yeah Second wind heals more, it's harder to deal with a yorick who's farmed all game pretty hard and can nearly 1 shot people with Q.

Not the most effective, but .2% of your total health basically per minion wave when you have 3K health begins to stack up quickly since you 1 shot waves almost with titantic hydra.

He was 'impossible' to 1v1 at level 6 before because it's not a 1v1. Dude's got backup but he struggles against some people. Just if you leave him alone in your lane don't expect to come back to a tower.

Here's the thing, all you mentioned, that's the point. That's his niche and his job.

Just play Urgot into him, your flip (he's immoble), W shield and damage will be enough to get him away.

Yorick struggles with teammates who get themselves killed before he can get his push set.

A team with one less front liner requires their squishies to have brains, which honestly is hit or miss in solo queue

I can personally attest to games where I have a zed wasting ults on poppy, 3 of my teammates getting caught out hard pushing mid, while the jungle farms raptors, and just general feeding while complaining the split push centric, team fight allergic, Yorick is their "front line" and they "need to group".

I feel like Yorick is slightly underpowered, but still strong enough to be fun. Yes he pushes like a champ, but he will not carry a team. His tower pushes are amazing. His ability to zone and burst a single champion is huge. He is still not a carry and fails in team fights.

I actually have been jungling him lately. I used to go jg on him before the rework, but with his new kit I stopped because it didn't seem to match well. After going back to it, he is pretty awesome. His ult gives you the fastest jungle clears, dragons, rifts and barons. If you have ult running, you can go into enemy jungle all day. When his ult is up he can 1 v 2 well. Even in top lane I love seeing someone go in to gank him, the ult comes out and he kills top and jungle :D

While that description may seem strong, here are some negatives that keep him from being OP:

  1. If his ult is on CD, he is easy to take on and has no escape other than an easy to remove/dodge/leap out of circle. If he ults, just retreat and watch his maiden suicide into tower. As a jungler, it is a victory even if you don't kill someone in a gank if you get them to burn a summoner skill. I see that as the same as getting Yorick to pop his ult. Go in, get his ult out, use whatever to get away, and then as soon as its over go back in and finish him. If you go in with a slow jungler with no escape (some of your tank off-meta junglers) prepare to just get torn a new one the second his ult comes out.

  2. If his ult is on CD, he is so slow he is easy to gank.

  3. Once his ult Maiden is in lane, it is dumber than a pile of bricks. When his maiden is out of lane it follows you all day, the second it smells a minion it goes into derp mode. I have had it stand in place and do nothing at one point. Even the enemies were typing "wtf is it doing?" Oh, and nothing like playing ascension, backing to the store, and it gets stuck at teh shop and doesn't warp back to the map. His maiden is buggy AF, period. His ults real strength is in his flying monkeys.

  4. In a team fight his minions all get wiped fast, and he has very little to add. It does not matter how well you do in game, if your team is doing poorly, he just does not carry. If your team at least holds their own, then he can shine, but he needs help.
