Tristana is too easy and too hard to fuck up.

shes too safe. I want a response from @meddler. tristana is simply too god damn strong. she is very hard to punsh for anything she does. She Ws away. wtf do you do? if you chase her. She just clicks R on you. in team fights. she can single handedly disengage herself from two champions and then have resets.

her Q is a 110% on demand attack speed buff. the greatest attack speed buff in league of legends. in comparison at level 18. Jax passive gives him 88% attack speed after 8 AUTO ATTACKS. 8. am sick and tired of playing league of 2.5 attack speed perma AS buff carry. its ridiculous. and no am not gonna fucking look at winrates and complain about MF because MF has clear strengths and weaknesses. TRISTANA DOES NOT.

she is the best or the 2nd best sieger. she scales too well late game. does any ad carry have a bad early game anymore? fuck no. runes are gone and you cant simply opt in for armor seals or quints so they do damage early.

she is hard to engage on. and she pushes her lead by engaging on a singled out target. blowing them up as if shes veigar with 1000 stacks and then jumping out. the playstyle just doesn't make any sense in league anymore

this comes from a time where the game had pretty much no god damn shield. heal was a weaker summoner ignite and exahust were stronger and thornmail reflected 30% of physical damage backwards. and they were still strong champions

tristana kit DID not age well. because unlike ezreal and corki. two other champions from such a long time ago as well. they are skill based. they land skillshots. and they have one disengage and have much lower DPS

ashe is a utilitarian ADC that kind of doesn't do nearly as much damage as most other ones.

god even caitlyn is above and beyond more punishable than tristana. you can't do anything to her but hope whoever is playing is a MONKEY that will W in the middle of your team. because 670 Range perma as buff and self peel is just is disasterously absurd.

range is already an OP stat in league. you can't have a HYPER range ad among them. because look at caitlyn last two years. the #1 ad carry for two years straight because you insist on giving them more than 600 range. which shouldn't be a thing. even with that in mind. two self peel abilities is bonkers.

Tristana's Q also has 9 seconds of down time, and Jax's passive is 100% uptime if he maintains it.

On top of that, he has MUCH higher atk spd growth than Tristana (who has low growth because she has such a strong steroid).

ADCs have damage steroids. Thats literally what they do. Tristana's is on her Q. Deal with it.

She is also rocking a 48% win rate, but please tell me how hard she is winning games still.

Tristana's only problem is that she's too hard to pin down. Not her AS steroid, not her range. Just the fact that she's too hard to pin down.

Caitlyn's problem wasn't the range, either. It was her interaction with Runaan's, primarily.

Having a low win rate while also having a lot of mobility seems to me that she is "fine" for the moment. If she is getting a buff it should both buff her damage but also slightly nerfing her Max HP by about 50+60 at Lv 18 so she feels more like a glass cannon.

It was the range/traps/headshot damg. They removed her runnans interaction and her win rate actually went up. Cause in the end it was actually better for her to build shiv + Rfc for sieging (and 1 shiv + headshot would easily 3/4 ur health and force you to base, if you ate a trap just /ff).

Range is part of the reason why she's hard to pin down. Those two are not separate issues.

I hate Tristana and hope she stays in the gutter until she gets reworked. But those are my personal feelings - it doesn't mean she's OP. Tristana is annoying, but you've COMPLETELY looked over her faults.

  1. A lot of her damage is tied to her E - whoever has the bomb on their head just walks disengages in a teamfight she loses A LOT of her damage.

  2. Weak from behind. Her escape has a 20sec+ cd, so it's a COMPLETE disengage. AKA if you use it to escape, you have lost ALL presence for 20+ secs. Her W is best when she's able to get resets which is very hard when you're behind.

What does this mean? It means don't just run @ Tristana in a teamfight after she uses W. Run at her -> she uses W, then just focus on other people, don't chase her. She either a) just keeps running and contributes nothing to the teamfight or b) has to walk back into the danger zone now with her W on cd (pretty much every gap closer on the game has a shorter CD, so now you can gap close onto her again and she has no answer - besides ulting you, rinse, repeat). It is NOT A PERMANANT AS BUFF - if she does this shit she will LOSE her atk speed buff and does WAY less damg.

  1. Garbage base stats - low base attack speed & ad, and super duper squishy. This means she scales the worst out of ADCs when it comes to attack speed - that's the reason she gets the 110% attack speed buff. She is weaker than pretty much any other ADC outside of this window of power - abuse it and she can't dos hit.

There was a time when legit it didn't matter how far ahead you were as Tristana - you still insta-lost to Lucian/Corki because they'd burst you too hard.

Actually same reason Trist is weak against MF. If Tristana wants to jump on MF she will lose that trade 99% of the time.

I very much agree with this assessment. Tristana's mini-rework a little while back made her E interesting, but in the end, she remains a toolbox champion, i.e. a champion with a bunch of abilities that don't really relate to each other to produce interesting emergent gameplay. Instead, she gets a sprinkle of damage, mobility, range and CC, with no real specialization other than some tower-busting capabilities. Moreover, because practically all of these effects are on-demand and ultra-reliable, there is very little that can be done to outplay her, particularly since it's much easier for her to get out of sticky situations than it is for even assassins to get a hold of her.

I think the two main interaction-based problems that can be isolated on her are a) too much of her power is placed into on-demand or always-on steroids, and b) she has immense amounts of cheap self-peel that give her opponents very few means of threatening her. Because her innate is partially responsible for both of these issues, I think it might help to change it (gradually increasing ranges doesn't really do much in the way of clarity either), and I think beyond that she might need a new Q, as well as changes to her W and ult that would give more options to her opponents.

Looking at her Q, attack speed isn't really something you should give as an on-demand steroid to Trist, because her E is conditional upon attack speed to fully work, meaning that it reduces the usage of her current Q down to just comboing with her E, and vice versa. Additionally, having a steroid that mostly increases her single-target on its own isn't really the most thematically appropriate effect for a champion whose main asset is her cannon, a weapon better-suited for AoE damage. Because of this, I think changing her current Q to an effect that would empower her ability to damage multiple enemies at a time, perhaps going for a more balanced version of her old E passive (where she could one-shot enemies in tightly-clumped groups) could make for a more interesting and potentially more interactive ability, as well as start pushing her towards a better-defined niche.

As for her W and ult, I think her ult may be okay by itself, even if it could probably do with a higher cooldown, but her current jump is a problem because she mostly just uses it for additional safety. Thematically, a rocket jump is perfect for Trist, except it would be much more appropriate for her to use it to jump into the fray, rather than jump out. Because of this, I think it might be better to force her to dash in first before dashing out: for example, if her W were a two-part ability, with the first cast being enemy-targeted and the second being free-targeted, she could still potentially have an escape, especially against melee-range opponents, except that escape would be delayed by some amount. It would reward her for going in aggressively, more so than her current reset, because she'd have a guaranteed exit, but in doing so it would force her to put herself in harm's way, which I think could make her a much more interesting character overall.

While I may not personally be a Tristana main or expert, I think what she should be is an aggressive, almost assassin-y marksman who has lots of AoE in her kit, and who jumps into the middle of the enemy team to blow them all up. What she is right now, however, is a boring, ultra-safe hypercarry marksman with a ton of self-peel and stat-based power on demand. She deserves better, and so do her opponents.

I disagree tristana has plenty of weaknesses in her kit that can be exploited.

  1. She is limited to her auto range of 550-669 depending on level. This means she can't retaliate against poke unless she uses her w to close the gap making onto an enemy champion; making her very vulnerable without her w.
  2. She is entirely similar to twitch and were her entire kit is upfront damage that falls off after it is used. Making cc during this time or forcing her to jump away wasting time hurt her potential damage greatly.
  3. Tristana auto pushes the waves during laning phase making her easier to gank even with her w, and if you can get her under tower it makes it hard for her to cs under tower.
  4. Tristana has no tools other then her w to stick onto a target. This means if she uses her e and q on you without using w you can easily just walk away from her wasting her cooldowns and making her easier to fight after they are used. If you have a champion that has a free movement dash/blink she then has no way to stick on to you and you can just waste all her cooldowns.
  5. All her damage is single target physical damage with no % health modifiers meaning armor and health stacking is effective against her damage.
  6. If she uses abilities on a tower that means she can't use them in a team fight/skirmish greatly hurting her damage in the fight.
  7. Tristana's jump has a long animation this is a boon and curse in the sense that a long jump animation can be used to ignore cc for duration but it also means tristana loses a second - 2 seconds worth of damage if you force her to jump away plus the time it takes to travel make to the fight(easily making her loses thousands worth of damage well your adc is still damaging their front line). Her long animation makes it also rather easy for displacements/knockups to cancel her jump. Best example of this in practice is thresh against tristana. It also means quick burst is extremely effective against tristana's jump IE rengar, talon, et ceteria.

There are other weaknesses, but this is just the weaknesses I currently can think of well tired.

but like your first point applys to almost all adc which is a reason why brand and xerath supports are so succesful as they will poke you to hell

also the 4th point i get what you are saying but when a trist is fed enough she doesnt need to, she can jump on your face and auto attack which takes about 4-5 if you are a squishy and you die, her life steal keeps her alive even though she jumped right on top of you

Funny, i was thinking about Trist the other day, and this was the same conclusion i came to, lol
