You didn't see him combo it with last long ults then buddy such as Yorick, Annie, etc Add to it the fact he can multi ults at mid game.

For squishy mage that needs to be melee on you to maximize his dmg his heal and shield is ok, same as Neekos one on her ult.
You have to wait 200% cd of ult to pick it again so unless you havnt used it for long time, you are not going to use 5 ults in teamfights.
You can't talk about champ in first few days like it is holy true or something, wait few days/weeks or play dozens of game with him and then return.
