Why does Seraph's embrace have such a huge cooldown compared to blood thirster?

Lets just compare the items shields for just a second.

item 3040 has a huge 120 second cooldown until next activation. item 3072 life steal through minions until health is maxed in order to get shield. No internal cooldown.

item 3048 shield last only for a mere 2 seconds. item 3072 shield last until damage is taken.

item 3003 has to to be fully stacked in order to gain shield. item 3072 shield available upon purchase

item 3040 shield uses 15% current mana. item 3072 no resource needed.

Honestly, if item 3040 was an AD item just for argument sake, I'd bet it would have a 30 second cooldown, uses no mana and lasted more than 2 seconds.

because its bigger and mages who buy seraph get more damage out of it than the usual BT buyers

also doesn't require you to be full HP to get

also BT shield isn't permanent and decays over a (generous) amount of time

(also 20% cdr vs 0)

to be fair, unlike bloodthirster there isn't a cap on how big the shield can get, and you can increase its size based on other items, and its instant cast when you actually need it, ad champs have to semi stack it [the shield] first.

Most champs can easily stack it going into to battle

true, but the main point being that while both require stacking, bloodthirster requires stacking each fight, seraphs only needs the initial stacking from its predecessor

Because nobody buys Bloodthirster anymore

You forgot to mention the part where Seraph's is built on champions typically longer ranged than bloodthirster, and that it also gives a huge amount of mana and 40% CDR, as well as top-tier AP values considering its passive.

The item is 140$ cost effective by itself. A bloodthirster with a fully stacked shield is only 120%.
