Question about MMR and Placements

I'm currently in my promos for S1 but my mmr is 1480 at Gold 5 assuming op.gg is correct. I realized that I am likely getting match made against golds in order to get placed in S1. If you want to put me in MMR games for non-promos because of the way LP loss/gains work that's fine, but something feels odd about getting stiffer competition to get into a bracket that does not represent that competition.

Exaggerated comparison: I don't have to beat NFL players to get onto the high school football team.

In before: Lol im diamond and there's nothing different between golds and silvers huehuehuehue (is actually hardstuck plat5)

higher MMR and playing against player 1-2 division above gives u more LP per win and less LP loss if u lose. so u climb faster and lost game dont set u back that much.
Also, in ur cause ur own MMR can be as per ur division(op.gg is not 100% accurate its just an estimation), but the enemies on other team can have lower MMR than their division as well. like a gold 5 feeder can have silver 1-2 MMR if they're doing bad, so they end up in silver 1-2 elo games.
