At this point I'm expecting them to just add in next patch that removing the knockup was intentional

Look at the patch notes. The fix is in the 5.4 update.

QueenAqua1 votesAccording to other players and what i saw happen in my bf's game, it's not that it's not knocking up, it's just the animation not going through. Luckily, they fixed it in patch 5.4 so you shouldn't need to worry about it anymore.
